Are our top 3 receivers all injured, or something else?

Submitted by WichitanWolverine on

There was some discussion on this yesterday after the game but I haven't seen a solid conclusion. We know Black is out with is foot injury but what is going on with Perry and Crawford?

According to MGoBlue.com, Crawford has played once in the last 3 weeks, against Minnesota. I did confirm this morning he was on the field for Evans' second TD run. MGoBlue also says that Perry played against Maryland but not Minnesota.

These guys have combined for 1 catch since the Penn State game (Perry had one against Rutgers). It's starting to make sense why Peters is only throwing to TEs and checkdowns to RBs. Does anyone know exactly what is going on with these two?

Was wondering the same thing yesterday.  Where are Perry, Crawford, and others?  Coming into the season we had a record WR haul, but where the f are they outside of DPG who is greener than green.

Preseason? I don’t think that many fans had huge expectations to be honest. I think most fans thought 9-3, 10-2 tops. 11-1 ceiling. Offensively I thought we’d be better than this but that was mostly because we were returning and 3rd team all conf QB. Was still very concerned with replacing most of the OL.

Johnson was moved to the secondary. Black is injured. Martin is redshirting. DPJ is starting. Collins was going to redshirt, but due to the Black injury, he's getting some snaps. They are freshman. freshmen wide outs are not good. We have a battery of talented and experienced Tight ends. that's why they are getting targeting more than the WRs.

I'm not sure but there is always the chance that throughout the season their spirits have been beat down. Not having an accurate passer through the first two quarterbacks and now a young rs freshman. Peters can hit those guys when they're open though. However, I'm positive that I wouldn't throw to guys if I were a Michigan qb that can never get seperation on routes or who drop balls the few times that they do. That's just what I see on tv most of the time. When the bucnuts receivers get targeted, they are wide open and they catch the damn balls. So boys, suck it up and get it right. That's what you have full rides for right and that's your only job? There you go. You're never going to have a better or more simple responsibility than this with a million dollar upside so quit your crying and wake up. Get some damn clear cut separation on your routes for once so your young qb can hit you. Go Blue!

The position has struggled and injuries haven't helped but next year we need to bring in a legit WR coach. I'm surprise they have not ripped off the redshirt on Martin unless his injury has put him way behind.

I don’t think I’ve seen our wrs make a contested catch all season. Outside of Crawford’s over the shoulder catch I can’t even remember making a semi-difficult catch. No separation is created on routes. Just seems crazy with the athletes and speed in the group.

seeing Durkin go ballistic on what was clearly PI called on the throw to DPJ, but it is the kind of throw where a seasoned and really good WR would have been able to slow down just enough so that either the PI would have been even more blatant or the DB would have backed off enough to allow the WR to make the catch.  We can only hope that comes with experience.

Basically everywhere on the defense. I suspect the depth on defense is more Mattison’s doing than Hoke’s though, but we had senior and deep position groups across the whole defense. Even this year when the cupboards are basically dry or super young everywhere else we have Hurst/Winovich/Mone/McCray/Furbush. This year is basically the first year Harbaugh’s recruits on defense are seeing the part of the field as starters.

Our WRs have 51 yards receiving total in the last 3 games.  Need to start using them to open things up.  We just played 3 really bad defenses, now we get Wisconsin who has the best defense we will face this season.

Everybody's hurt. We're literally playing jumbo TE sets with zero WR and dump-offs to TEs and RBs.

This is not good folks. It's like not having air-support and air-superiority on a ground operation.
