Wow, they keep hitting rock bottom and finds ways to keep digging.

Academic and sports' rivalry aside, they constantly show that they are a despicable, 3rd class institution!

No way of knowing Nasser was a predator?  That is what is known as an issue of fact, and to be determined by the jury.  There is plenty of evidence based on what has been published already upon which a jury could find MSU had reason to know.  I get it, as a lawyer you file a motion to dismiss based on whatever you can conjure.  But if the arguments are as tone deaf as the article suggests, MSU really needs lawyers who are more sensitive to the broader issues in this case.  There is a way to make these arguments with some sensitivity.

I must admit I’m tired of hearing about as well.

As an institution they should apologize and pay the survivors.   I would not be surprised if more is discovered in football/basketball.

Holy shit...............this is one of, if not the worst, most tone deaf statements I have ever read on the internet, and that is saying something.  Whoever you are in real life, you should be ashamed of yourself.  This guy very badly damaged the lives of hundreds of people

Good lord this is embarrassing.  His take was bad and showed some serious insensitivity to the Nassar victims or survivors.  However, these responses are also bad and some are worse than the original bad take.  1464, you should  be ashamed of yourself.  Telling someone they are the reason abortion should be legal, insulting their parents with the C-word, and finishing up with telling them to die is outrageous in any capacity.  That is exponentially worse than having a bad take about victims of sexual assault being able to call themselves survivors.

Thanks for clarifying.  I didn't look at it that way when I was posting.  I can see a little bit how you would think it was hypocritical.  I was not intending to make it seem I was calling people out for criticizing that insensitive post.  I was annoyed with people attributing things to him he didn't say or implying things that weren't there.  My comment you replied to was meant to show disdain for the word choice used, not the tone of disgust.  In my view, calling someone out for a demeaning and insensitive post by using demeaning and vulgar language doesn't make you better, it makes you the same.  I wanted to express that because I want the world to be kinder place.  It looks like I failed to articulate myself and my intentions based on the replies I've gotten.  Thats my fault.  I want us to live up to the image we like to portray for ourselves as michigan fans.

When I was like 11 years old I was sleeping over at a friend's house, and I woke up and he was playing with my penis while I was sleeping. This guy isn't a friend anymore, but later I would found out he was gay.

Should I go around telling everyone that I am a rape survivor because of this incident?

Dude, I'm going to take you at your word that you really believe what you said, and are not trolling. What Nassar did was a terrible abuse of power. Some of these gymnasts were impressionable young athletes who would never dream that a doctor from a reputable university would abuse power and prey upon young women/girls. So, Nassar's actions destroyed a young person's perception of the world, at a crucial developmental age. The damage done will probably affect their future romantic relationships, relationships with future children, and likely destroyed their trust in humanity itself. In Dante's inferno, the lowest place in hell is to those that betray. Nassar betrayed his profession, his institution, the US Olympic team, and the trust of young athletes. As a parent, or as a human that can relate to one day being a parent, you surely understand the ire that you are getting in this forum.

To your example of being fondled as an 11 year old, I would suggest seeking professional help. You may not realize or want to admit, but you were victimized. When victimization occurs, the brain can freeze your emotions withing the mental state of when the victimization occurred, i.e. 11 years old in your case. Your response to this tragedy is of that of an 11 year old. I think it would be healthy to seek some help.

I'm writing this out of love of my fellow human and wish you well.

If you are a troll, pound sand.

I was sleeping over at my friends house, so I really would not have felt comfortable making a scene at the time. But it's a 100% true story that my gay friend was playing with my penis without consent while I slept.

Are you saying I should tell everyone that I'm a victim of rape, and that I am a survivor?

Seriously soak this in for a minute.

Young girls were molested.  They knew It was wrong.  They hated it.

An institution told them what they knew was not true.   Trust was lost

The institution of adults sworn to educate and care for children convinced their parents that their children had psychological issues.

The children then hated their parents for not protecting them. A father committed suicide out of shame and grief.  A daughter committed suicide out of shame and grief.

If they want to be called survivors I think that’s their God Damn privilege.

The first time you posted your story, I believed it.

Since you repeated it word for word, it just comes across as baiting someone into an argument with you where you get to frame the narrative.  I call complete FUCKING BULLSHIT that you were molested.

BTW, gay people just don't run around grabbing penises.

You are either a Sparty troll or a Russian bot, so I won’t argue with you. I will point out that at least one of the survivor’s parents committed suicide when they realized how bad they had fucked up by believing Nasser over their child. So, yeah, people did die as a result.

He did not kill anyone though. And to be honest, there's only so long a person can sit around and be sorry for something that happened to them in the past. I don't think we should encourage this victim mentality, as it's terrible for society.

Tone deaf indeed. On the one hand you blast people for using the term survivor, then on the other you say we shouldn't encourage victim mentality. Do you even realize the linguistic underpinnings of what is going on here? Your comments paint you as sexist and borderline evil.

sur-vi-vor

noun

- a person who survives, especially a person remaining alive after an event in which others have died.

- the remainder of a group of people or things.

- a person who copes well with difficulties in their life.

Point?  Survivor has meanings beyond simply remaining alive, so your premise is just beyond fucking dumb.
