Anybody got a line on this chatter of something bad broiling within the athletic department. Stuff about hockey?
No, not a lurking OSU fan fishing for info, go look at my post history if you must. Ever since this fall any sort of message board ~rumors~ catch my attention more than they should because unfortunately a lot of stuff turns out to have legs. I don't know why or how so many random, unaffiliated people get info before the usual insiders do (especially OSU people what the hell is that about, it's like they've got every admin building wiretapped), but there are rumblings of a lot of egg on the face that will come out. Something about hockey assault accusations? Just in time during our big ten tournament run of course!
We literally had a law firm report detailing the toxic culture that Mel was permitting, so if we're reintroducing facts already in evidence, fine, the finger should be pointed at Warde for a). wanting to stick with Mel, and b). weirdly not keeping Mel from acting like the government in exile on social media last year. Which, again, things people are already pissed off about.
Now, if there's more than that, so be it, but it would hardly be shocking to find out that 1000SSS is letting a whole bunch of horrible ish slide.
Just curious. Other than the Pooper Scoop podcast I haven't seen one reputable source for any of these allegations anywhere, what am I missing?
As my original post said, just rumblings and rumors, and wanted to see if there were actually any legs to it from the couple folks on here who are plugged in and know people. Considering the unfortunate rep of the hockey team culture under Mel and then the JRC incident this fall, was hoping none of it was true, ESPECIALLY as the team heads out to play Minnesota on Saturday. Also tagged the post "hockey" thinking it would only really be seen by people who read that side of the blog, I tend to stick to commenting more than actual posting so I now I've got this cluster f*** on my hands.

Jewish Resouce Center at the intersection of Hill & Olivia. Johnny Druskinis and a girl are walking back from some tailgates back in the Oxford neighborhood and spray-painted swastikas on the walkway in front of it. Broad daylight, all caught on camera. He wasn't a huge contributor on the team but not a not a great look nonetheless.
And he was swiftly removed from the team. I don't think that incident speaks to the overall culture of the hockey program.
Link to article regarding the Jewish Resource Center issue, no painting of a swastika mentioned, also immediately removed from the team. Not sure how you can control for something like that if there's nothing presented in advance.
I saw a little bit of chatter about it on The Edge and people are alluding to Balas saying something (and despite people not liking Balas, he is right sometimes). Still may turn out to be absolutely nothing but the premise of the supposed article is plausible enough
It'll be fine, we'll just follow the MSU model of ignoring any felony assaults by hockey players.
MSU athletics lack ethical standards to be sure, but I actually think of the hockey program as being relatively clean. Conboy was rightfully booted out for his heinous assault on Steve Kampfer a decade back, but I don't remember anything else.
