I imagine they will look the same...only over a matte helmet.

What clothes do you wear exclusively? Where do you bank? Is your favorite pizza place not the place where they do the radio show?

Hopefully not at all.

Not sure what you mean by that. The snarling wolverine (at left) is unique and should be retained. But I agree that it should be a little smaller.

Glad the OP changed it, but no, the question mark indicates "I saw something, are these the new helmet stickers?" rather than "do you think there's going to be a new helmet sticker design?"

Helmet sticker?

The helmets look perfect as is. They filled up so quickly it's not like they were showing fans any distinctive play making. Pick whatever stickers their hearts desire and keep a big chart in the lockerroom.
September 5th, 2016 at 12:48 AM ^
The problem is the equipment staff are putting the stickers all over the helmet, with goofy spacing, and a much lower bar for what gets a sticker. Pre-95, the sticker standard was much more difficult, the spacing was tigher, and once the sides of the helmet were full, that was the end of it. Compare:
Desmond Howard in the 1992 Rose Bowl, at the end of a season in which he won a Heisman:
Last season, before the year was even over:
I know Harbaugh is all about competition and winning every trophy or sticker or whatever, but... It looks silly.
September 5th, 2016 at 12:53 AM ^
I'm sure they could find a preschool teacher to help them perfect the process. That's where this belongs unless it's a longtime tradition. Not on the most classic helmet in football.
September 5th, 2016 at 1:11 AM ^
Not sure what your precise definition of "longtime" is, but helmet stickers were a tradition here for a quarter century (the Bo/Mo eras) - including Harbaugh's whole childhood/playing days.
September 5th, 2016 at 8:10 AM ^
They'd all started to fill up the MIDDLE two blue sections. It was ridiculous.
Just make a board for the locker room or figure out a way to put them under the name plates on the lockers or something.
You can do the same thing and keep them off the helmet.
Even get practice helmets and put them on the practice helmets only would be okay better.

I'm wondering if Harbaugh rewards stickers to players just for showing up to practice.

The new helmet isn't matte finish, it's satin. And there is a blue neck bumper in the photo, so that is this year's helmet.
September 5th, 2016 at 1:47 PM ^
The is maize is still gloss on the new helmet; the blue is satin. That is an excellent image showing the difference and the stickers are indeed smaller. Going to be sharp!

Didn't we "invent' Script Ohio as well?
September 5th, 2016 at 8:45 AM ^
No. The MMB formed a cursive Ohio formation in 1932, but it didn't spell out the letters one-by-one. It's kind of a cheap claim to say the MMB invented it--it was two entirely different things. What makes the Script Ohio isn't just the final product.
September 5th, 2016 at 9:00 AM ^
It's the only word the slobber-knockers in Ohio know how to spell.

I'm late and you'll never read this...but thanks, always kind of heard that rumor/story, but never took the time to see if it was actually true.

Same goes for the winged helmets. Many probably have no idea we got them from Princeton when Crisler coached there.
