Any news on helmet stickers?

Submitted by kawter on
Haven't heard much about helmet stickers this offseason let alone how they will look with the new gear

Has anyone seen anything yet?

I don't follow your example.  It was Crisler himself who came up with the idea of having three stripes on a winged helmet.  We hired him and he brought his design here.  Not sure how he isn't receiving credit for it.

Well, all Crisler did was color in the template for a standard Spalding (IIRC) helmet. And he wasn't the only one to do it--Michigan State (er, MAC at that time) used a painted wing design as well. The only difference is when Crisler brought it to Michigan, UM stuck with it when everyone else didn't. It became the signature. Hell, Princeton didn't reintroduce the wings until the late 90s-early 00s.

IIRC, the template called for a single stripe across the middle of the helmet, which is what MSU used.  Crisler's idea was to have three - apparently to mimic tiger stripes (it being Princeton) and also to make them clearly visible to QBs looking for downfield teammates, since teams might not wear different colored uniforms.

I hate threads like these. It's the coach and players who decide. The players asked to keep the # after UTL1 and they did. If Harbaugh finds stickers create competition and the players like them, I'm down.

I didn't say posters can't talk about whatever they want here, sparky ...I said I hate threads like these because they're stupid. First off, no team or program decisions are made based on what's posted here and all his discussion boils down to is whining ...half-accurate truths about the uniform's history and tedious nitpicking. Don't like the stickers, I'm sure you can DM Coach on Twitter about it and get the results you're looking for. But above all else ...this 'topic' has been bludgeoned to death over the past year, plus. We get it ....you think the helmets are pretty and because Alabama doesn't use stickers, there's a real correlation between stickers and winning.

I am for winning. Let Harbaugh do whatever he wants. As a fan, I care about wins and not about the color or stickers. If it helps the game, go for it.

Actually looking forward to the stickers this year if only to cover up the satin finish. After seeing it in action, I much prefer the classic polished helmet (with no stickers).

Said McCray earned the most so I assume we'll have them. I liked it last year but agree with many that the helmet looks so damn crisp this year that I'm not sure i want them back (ha).
