Alabama players apparently not watching film individually on tablets due to sign stealing allegations
December 28th, 2023 at 1:38 PM ^
Oh good, performative claptrap as part of a bowl presser. Call me shocked.
December 28th, 2023 at 1:48 PM ^
If they're foregoing something that would have helped them get game-planning assimilated more quickly, we should be all for it, no? Maybe they're starting to prep their excuses?
December 28th, 2023 at 2:22 PM ^
So, are they overall spending less time watching film then?
December 28th, 2023 at 2:30 PM ^
Its definitely taking time away from their studies.
December 28th, 2023 at 3:00 PM ^
I think Alabama is playing on the same “school” level as OSU.
December 28th, 2023 at 3:22 PM ^
True to this day, Nick singing in the background.
December 28th, 2023 at 3:35 PM ^
"...stealin' signs, mostly say hooo-ray for our side" (that is, except for Hotel Putingrad's signs)
December 28th, 2023 at 3:00 PM ^
...and wouldn't that film be largely...michigan film?
December 28th, 2023 at 3:10 PM ^
Ha, great point. That makes this make even less sense. They're concerned Michigan would hack their film study of Michigan plays? Wtf? Lol.
December 28th, 2023 at 4:15 PM ^
Unless they are worried about Michigan hacking into their computers to change the plays on film to a different play. This is getting into time travel being the next step Michigan attempts.
December 28th, 2023 at 8:05 PM ^
The explanation doesn't make any sense at all. But the reason is actually that "first 8 games" part in what they told their players.
This is about them trying to give their players a mental edge from the idea that Michigan's no longer who they were in the first 8 games.
December 28th, 2023 at 3:13 PM ^
It would have some "here is what Michigan does and here is what we will do when they do these things."
December 29th, 2023 at 10:28 AM ^
Also, because it became on-campus initiated by the coaches, does it become countable hours for player compliance?
How will that work with the 4hrs/day and 20/hr per week limit?
December 28th, 2023 at 2:12 PM ^
I think they just want more time to play Candy Crush Saga.
December 28th, 2023 at 1:38 PM ^
time to roll bama
December 28th, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
Alabama is also not planning on calling "different" plays to prevent stealing. They will simply repeat the same play over and over again.
December 28th, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
December 28th, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
More seriously, are we really living that rent free in Bama's heads?
December 28th, 2023 at 4:35 PM ^
More seriously, are these players admitting they use sites like catapult sports that give away other teams videos?
December 28th, 2023 at 4:41 PM ^
That’s probably what they’re referencing.
December 28th, 2023 at 4:59 PM ^
What's this?
December 28th, 2023 at 5:55 PM ^
One of the Stalbombs allegations was that Alabama watches catapult video at halftime of their home games.
December 28th, 2023 at 6:47 PM ^
One of the players specifically referenced Catapult and said that was the reason. In this context, it's weird.
But the bigger issue to me is there was a lot of smoke that Catapult employees were in consistent contact with OSU video staffers and were getting paid. I'm surprised nothing more has come of that. Penn State was one of the schools whose film might have been shared, and under Franklin they do not seem like the kind of program that would shrug its shoulders and say, "no biggie." If I were running Catapult, I would recognize the threat to my bottom line if teams have any reason to think their film isn't entirely safe. I wouldn't give the Catapult employees who seemed to be close to the OSU staffers the benefit of the doubt.
December 29th, 2023 at 8:02 AM ^
Seems a bit conspiracy theory to me. I dunno, I would expect Catapult to talk to any large athletic department and it would be business suicide for them to share private videos. I would think there are a lot of firewalls around that stuff so random employee X couldn't just download everyone's practice film and hit the Silk Road or whatever.
December 28th, 2023 at 1:41 PM ^
Meanwhile, Saban has been publicly dismissive of sign-stealing discourse. Wonder why these players chose to get dramatic. Whatever. Go Blue. Beat Tide.
December 28th, 2023 at 2:02 PM ^
It is because everyone does it, and he isn't a hypocrite.
December 28th, 2023 at 2:03 PM ^
He's also secure in his job and thus doesn't need to grasp after every available excuse
December 28th, 2023 at 3:01 PM ^
ESPN told them to say it.
December 28th, 2023 at 2:04 PM ^
True on the first part of your comment, but not so on the 2nd half.
December 28th, 2023 at 1:42 PM ^
George Helow will perform 30 minute briefings to every player in lieu of players watching practice or game film on their personal devices.
December 28th, 2023 at 2:10 PM ^
I was going to mention George Helow too. Helow is on the 'Bama payroll for an obvious reason.
If Nick Saban wants to believe that adding Helow to his staff to give his team the advantage then so be it.
December 28th, 2023 at 2:31 PM ^
I loved Vance Bedford’s analysis on how Helow handled the linebackers under his watch.
he said they weren’t very good.
December 30th, 2023 at 3:23 AM ^
yeah, but he still is fully aware of Michigan's offense and defensive playbook, checks, etc.
December 28th, 2023 at 1:42 PM ^
nah thats why and not because tommy rees calls plays slightly less advanced than cave paintings
December 28th, 2023 at 1:43 PM ^
Tommy Rees is one Reeson I'm feeling hopeful about this game.
December 28th, 2023 at 1:42 PM ^
this reminds of kids who think they can become invisible by closing their eyes. that's around the 2 yr old stage, +/-.
December 28th, 2023 at 1:52 PM ^
I used to have a cat that would try to hide by sticking their head under the bed, even though their fat ass was plainly visible for all to see.
December 28th, 2023 at 2:19 PM ^
Code?
December 28th, 2023 at 8:00 PM ^
Sort of a lazy man's Schrodinger's tabby.
December 28th, 2023 at 1:56 PM ^
This made me laugh. I don’t think I ever thought that but I do remember kids doing it.
My Mom however once used a passing truck to explain how the moon was really big but because it was so far away it looked small. She pointed out how the truck looked smaller after it had traveled a long way.
So i asked her a few minutes later if we had traveled a long way and when she said yes I asked her if we were smaller.
December 28th, 2023 at 2:31 PM ^
Hold on! That doesn't work?!
December 28th, 2023 at 3:59 PM ^
well, it kind of did for burt in the old sitcom, 'soap'.
December 28th, 2023 at 4:02 PM ^
Ha---beat you by a minute with my YouTube clip!
December 28th, 2023 at 4:36 PM ^
What a great show.

Drax could stand perfectly still (while eating chips) and he thought Quill couldn’t see him.

But it worked for Burt Campbell...

Too bad Stallions wasn’t Bert.
