No surprise here but might be the biggest recruit of the Harbaugh era!

Like Hoke, the problem has not been getting recruits; it has been developing them.

I see no need to get excited until we see him play well against quality opponents.

I think the amount of players Harbaugh has put in the NFL compared to Hoke says differently

Michigan fans need to check themselves. If you expect elite players coaches and results then maybe expect better out of yourself and what you project on the Michigan community.

Those five 6th rounders last year are mighty impressive. We beat out Alabama!

If Harbaugh was getting paid $4 million, then I would expect Lloyd Carr type success, minus the national championship, bowl game wins, and B10 championships.

Since he's making $8 million, or elite coach money, it is totally acceptable to expect elite players coaches and results. It comes with the territory of making elite coach money.

Wasn't 2019 the season where we fired Pep (which fans wanted), who had shown offensive improvement year over year, and replaced him with a guy that Saban let go, that had never called plays before ? And then Patterson immediately regressed?

And then the same fans who wanted Pep gone and were praising Gattis as the 2nd coming before he called a single collegiate play, couldn't decide and still can't decide if our offensive struggles were due to Gattis' learning curve or because obviously HARBAUGH IS MEDDLING IN THE OFFENSE OMG!!!11

Yeah, forgive me if I think the evidence says that our fanbase is a bunch of fucking idiots. And you all bitch and moan on this blog so goddamn much, just stfu already.

Perhaps it's better for grown adults to treat an 18-year old like an 18-year old, rather than piling on the pressure of being a future savior before he even practices, which even a previously successful coach like Harbaugh, couldn't handle.

I hope he's successful, but I'm not anointing anyone a savior. When Harbaugh was hired, I said good, but I wasn't pre-planning celebrations for national titles and beating OSU.

I understand fans caring so much about player salaries in a salary cap sport. But why the hell do people care so much about how much is paid to the coaches? Are these results really more tolerable if he is paid half as much money? Sorry. That’s really dumb.

Because for the same money, other coaches are winning titles. That's like saying I don't get why fans are so mad that Michigan paid for a Porsche and were delivered a Ford Focus instead.

I can assure you that Michigan did not pay Harbaugh $8 mill a year to finish 3rd in the Big 10 East most years. If that was the goal, they could have found many coaches who could do it for $4 million or less.

Its actually nothing like that. It would be more like buying a Porsche and expecting it beat every other Porsche on the road without factoring anything else that might affect a race.

Are so many other highly paid coaches winning championships? because its more like 3 maybe 4.

Umm no. Every coach is not hauling $8 million a year and Harbaugh is getting paid as much as coaches that won championships, when he has never made the playoffs, let alone winning the Big Ten Championship, or even the Big Ten East.

As stated, it's like paying for a Porsche and getting a Ford Focus. Harbaugh, like the Focus, cannot even compete with the coaches in the top tier he's paid in, or even many coaches below his pay grade.

I've watched this kid play a lot.  I think this will go the reverse of what you're thinking even though he may be a Shea Patterson type of player in terms of his development here and that he may not advance that much or be a star in the NFL... his style is much more Johnny Manziel very elusive very dangerous.  I think his floor is high enough he'll come in and compete right away.  his work ethic will put him in position to be a very effective spread quarterback by the end of year two. I'm not saying he's going to win a National Title but I could easily expect him to be the kind of guy to lead us to ten win Seasons or better.

He's got the improvisation gene in him. He can make a broken play into big play. From what i've seen so far that is also a bit of a weakness of his. He sometimes throws off foot without needing to. If he had an arm like Aaron Rodgers or Patrick Mahomes it wouldn't be an issue. But I imagine a few missed easy balls early on. Hope the staff can help him hone in on this skill. We'll see..

But I agree, Manziel/Mayfield esque in their free styling type of play.

Poor damn Dax Hill...  His freshman year was largely a waste behind less athletically gifted players (though, in fairness, they were FAR more experienced).  His Sophomore year was wasted without a position coach to teach him anything.  His last year here will likely be under an entirely new defensive scheme that will take 2-3 years to learn and understand - hopefully he'll be fully enabled, anyway.
