Title says it all, both Allen Trieu and Steve Wiltfong putting in 6's this morning.

Beat OSU.

Is this kinda wishful thinking? Not that it wouldn't be great to have Dante, but the kid spurned M twice for two west coast schools.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:51 PM ^
He spurned Michigan for two reasons: immediate NIL, and immediate playing time. The reason he flipped from Oregon to UCLA in the first place was Bo Nix returning to school.
The immediate playing time is back on the table for Michigan, assuming JJ is leaving.

Remember the last high-star guy who spurned Michigan for a payday then came back to Blue when his coach was fired? I think his name was Ray Batterson or something. Wasn't terrible, but he also certainly wasn't a program carrier either.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:50 PM ^
I was curious about Moore too. I heard on the Cover 3 podcast that there was an issue with his NIL deal at UCLA and that he may be looking to transfer regardless of whether Kelly stays. Kind of assuming that Oregon would have the inside track though with the NIL opportunities and Bo Nix finishing up his college career this year.

Pass. Let's roll with Denegal, if JJ leaves.
November 21st, 2023 at 6:30 PM ^
Why? We have seen him throw like 10 passes in garbage time.
Maybe the coaches see something in practice but from my seat outside you should be kicking the tires on some experience.
November 22nd, 2023 at 10:21 AM ^
Roll with a QB we know nothing about. Brilliant.
November 21st, 2023 at 6:30 PM ^
The rumor is he's being paid not to attend.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:30 PM ^
Long time between now and when he's looking to commit at the beginning of January. Wins against OSU, in the B1GTCG, and in the playoffs could lead to a massive swing. Then again, the NIL age does change things.

Knew I was missing something, don't post often as all the intel I come across is almost always already posted!
Had to triple check before I posted to make sure I didn't repeat too.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:35 PM ^
It's all good! Gotta provide the helping hand when we can.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:30 PM ^
Carter Smith has a higher ceiling.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:32 PM ^
No he does not.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:56 PM ^
More athletic stronger arm currently playing two sports at a high level. Once he focuses on one he will be better.
I never said underwood isn’t going to be great or elite. Right now Underwood is a better QB. But I have serious doubts about Michigan High School QB’s doing anything elite at the college level.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:33 PM ^
Ok. That's just a salty homer take. I'm glad Smith is on board and I do think he's slightly underrated, but Underwood is a game changer.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:38 PM ^
Please no. Underwood is clearly the top target and is a clear difference maker. It would be a loss. That said, Smith is a solid get and we can't whiff.
Also, if wonder if these CBs are simply in response to Michigan taking a commitment from Smith or based on something else.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:52 PM ^
I'd guess that they learned Underwood isn't coming for the game on Saturday. If we're behind, that was probably our last chance to catch up.
November 21st, 2023 at 6:32 PM ^
Probably the other way around.
November 21st, 2023 at 7:47 PM ^
The recruiting analyst (specifically Webb and Holland) have both said Carter committing to Michigan wasn’t a deterrent for Bryce. I personally call BS on that, and think this was known for a minute. IIRC, a CB came in at the beginning of the season from an lsu guy for Bryce to LSU
November 21st, 2023 at 9:19 PM ^
Not even close.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:30 PM ^
2025 is a long way a way. That is a bummer in the short term though.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:50 PM ^
2025 is indeed a long way away, but most QBs commit long before signing day. Sometimes a year or 2 before.
November 21st, 2023 at 4:32 PM ^
It'd definitely be a bummer to miss on him. We've seen with JJ that having a dude is super helpful. Jayden Davis looks like he'll be good, but you need to have a couple of horses in the stable. With the portal, I think they'll be a lot of opportunity to poach someone if we're in need. Maybe Dante Moore comes back with Chip Kelly being fired. Maybe Arch Manning transfers with Ewers coming back. Maybe Carter Smith is the second coming.
November 21st, 2023 at 5:49 PM ^
Also said when Carr and Moore committed. Just change the years.
JJ is a unicorn. QBs want to throw and show off their wares.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:31 PM ^
Oh, dear. Let the whinging begin. For good measure, definitely mention Dante Moore and C.J. Carr. Maybe SignGate, too.
November 21st, 2023 at 4:12 PM ^
Well, it isn't great that we missed out on two top-end QB recruits in our backyard and are anticipated to miss out on the best QB recruit in a very long time to come out of Michigan. We have done very well regardless, but it would be nice to have a pipeline of top QB talent rather than hoping JJ sticks around or a freshmen steps up.
November 21st, 2023 at 4:14 PM ^
Dante Moore won’t end up doing anything CJ Carr same.
November 21st, 2023 at 4:31 PM ^
That may be true, but we did try to get both of them. I am really glad we have Davis, because he looks solid, but I would also like to have a bridge option between him and JJ. Nonetheless, these are nits I am picking off the back of a national contending beast.
November 22nd, 2023 at 10:28 AM ^
Michigans style of play hurts their chances of landing any big time QBs. Look how much other teams throw the ball and how little Michigan throws it. And thats with Michigan throwing it more this year.
Another factor is the lack of big time receivers. Wilson is a very good WR and he's not targeted as much as he should be. I thought Johnson would have had a better season as well. Theyre hurting for guys to throw to and recruits see it.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:31 PM ^
Imagine wanting to play for Brian "faahmulee" Kelly
November 21st, 2023 at 3:32 PM ^
Sam said today that UM is not leading right now but they are still in the thick of things. If he doesn't show up for the game this Saturday not to read too much into it. Or something like that. I was multi tasking and that is the gist of what I heard. It seems we still have a good chance but have more work to do.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:35 PM ^
Sam is a bit of a homer so.....
November 21st, 2023 at 3:36 PM ^
Sam’s got a product to sell. I love him as a Michigan fan being a homer Michigan fan, I don’t trust his content when it comes to recruiting.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:37 PM ^
Lol, that's Sam speak for "he gone".
November 21st, 2023 at 3:38 PM ^
He is playing in the state championship game this weekend.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:35 PM ^
Least surprising news of the day.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:36 PM ^
Not unexpected. But a lot could happen between now and signing day that could change the momentum. It ain't over until it's over.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:37 PM ^
Can we just have one rich booster drop a bag. One time!
November 21st, 2023 at 3:54 PM ^
* Monkey paw curls *
Booster just public venmo'd Connor Stalions.
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:06 AM ^
I heard Uncle T has some extra cash now.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:38 PM ^
LSU is doing a great job of showing him what he has access to offensively
November 21st, 2023 at 3:40 PM ^
And also having a season that no one really cares about despite a Heisman-caliber QB.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:52 PM ^
True, but the highest level guys also want to put themselves in a position to blow away NFL teams.
Jayden Daniels has 46 touchdowns(10 of them rushing) and 4 ints this year, so I'd say LSU's offense is demonstrating that.....
November 21st, 2023 at 3:54 PM ^
Isn't that the point? LSU showcases their QB and Michigan wins football games.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:38 PM ^
Not sure you're getting a top 100 QB in the NIL age without ponying up $ and well.... You know the story with U of M.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:38 PM ^
Kelly kept Jayden Daniels in the game until midway through the 4th quarter last week, until they led 56-14. Partly to pad Daniels' stats (over 500 all-purpose yards), but also to send a signal to Underwood.
November 21st, 2023 at 3:45 PM ^
You're really going to be one of the only people who I trust in this situation since you live close to/in Baton Rouge. Do you think Michigan really has any shot with Underwood? As stated by others and myself above, we're grateful to have Smith on board, but we all know Underwood would raise the ceiling significantly.
November 21st, 2023 at 4:21 PM ^
Unfortunately I'm not in the know. I wish I was more connected, but I've heard more about Underwood on the MGoBoard than I have down here.
November 21st, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
The message being that he's not a great coach and will leave the most important player in a blowout increasing chances of injury?
November 21st, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
I didn't say what type of signal it was, just that it was a signal. 😊
