Glad the staff saw this coming and took a high rated QB.  I get missing on 3 5 stars from your state is not a great look, but much better to get two high 4's from out of state the last two classes.

Seriously, why would any elite QB come here? JJ is a Heisman talent and he just had fewer than 10 passing attempts in front of a national tv audience in our most tightly contested game of the season. I love M, but it’s frustrating to hear coaches say they believe in doing a thing until the other team can stop it, only to realize that this philosophy only applies to runs up the gut, which ofc we still try to force even when the other team stops it.

too bad, but Michigan was prepared for this with is why they went after Carter Smith.

Not sure what else Michigan could do though: 2 straight CFB playoff appearances (soon to be three hopefully?) versus what LSU has done in 2/3 years?

Michigan will be fine whatever his decision.

I'm usually pollyannish-to-realistic when commenting on Michigan (I don't come here to be miserable and wallow in pessimism like some of the obvious masochists on here), but what UM Football really, really needs is one "clean" year.  No controversies.  No rogue/sleezy staffers.  No lazy hiring practices.  No dalliances with Harbaugh and the NFL.  No organizational dysfunction at the HC/AD/president levels.  Continue winning on the field.  Continue all the good publicity of beating rivals, developing players into "freaks" and NFL draft picks and doing good work in the community (like BC2 with the turkeys).  You know--actually be leaders and best like the song goes.

Lately, it seems like OSU/MSU is no longer Michigan's worst enemy--Michigan is Michigan's worst enemy.  Cut back on the self-inflicted wounds and that would probably do an awful lot for recruitments like this one.

I don’t get it. Michigan’s record post Covid is 36-3. Why do people complain about “not throwing enough”. If we did and lose, they’d complain that we don’t “run it enough”. Get some 5 star running backs and give em the ball, they’d cry. The goal is to WIN!!! Whether it’s passing, running, or defense, the goal is to WIN!!!  If that’s not good enough for a recruit, so be it. Michigan is one of the top universities in the world. If winning in front of the largest fan base in the country and a hopefully getting a great education is not enough for some, then make room for those who strive to be elite at Michigan for Michigan.

This is no knock on Underwood. He seems like a quarterback with great potential. I’ve watched him in person and I think he’s the real deal with his talent. I’d love to see him at Michigan and watch his development. But wherever he feels is the right fit for him, I hope he does great. Either way, with continued strong leadership, Michigan will be just fine.

Cool, nothing shows what someone’s made of more than going to play for Brian Kelly and the LSU money machine. You can have the best QB in college football and you’re destined to lose 4 games a year. Enjoy. Will lose not one nanosecond of sleep over it
