2021 state of Michigan football prospects

Submitted by Umich19 on June 13th, 2019 at 12:07 PM

While I know we’re currently focused on the 2020 recruiting class, with J.J. McCarthy and Giovanni El-Hadi in the fold already we’re off to a dominant start to the 2021 class.  With that being said the 2021 state of Michigan prospects might be the best group of prospects from the state we’ve had in years.  Especially the top two guys in Garrett Dellinger and Rocco Spindler who both play for Clarkston and are composite 5-stars.  Problem is they both seem to be Notre Dame leans and the 3rd best prospect in the state not only looks to be an OSU lean, but plays at Belleville where Michigan has had trouble recruiting the last few years.  Basically just wondering if anyone knows anything on those 3 players recruitments and our chances with them. I know it’s early, but if we could land these prospects we could be looking at the greatest class in program history...

Michigan is in a battle with ND for Garret Dellinger. Michigan is leading for Rocco Spindler. I think that ND crystal ball is old and spindler has been high on Michigan recently. Don’t know much about Payne. Michigan will probably push for him but he may want to leave the state similar to a lot of other Belleville players. Michigan leads for Donovan Edwards.

This is a digression.. but just read 247's  5 stars for 2020...  we aren't in on a single player, so it seems...  we still haven't recovered from Martin/Lloyd/RR of 2007.

What happened in 2007 is unlikely to have a huge influence on guys who were 6 years old at the time. They are much more concerned about what Harbaugh, Brown and Gattis have accomplished recently and what they can expect them to do in the near future.

If Gattis is as good as people here want to believe he is, enjoy him for 2 years because he’ll be fast tracked for a HC job.

If Gattis is solid but not elite the ceiling is PSU 2016....as Jimmy Franklin says “very good, not elite”

If Ed Warriner has any role beyond OL coach, we’re doomed.

Recruits will care but the next OC hire will matter if Gattis is elite.

People like you are going to bitch about that until the end of time. Get over it. Getting killed by OSU last year matters a lot more to 2020 recruits than something that only football dorks and old farts still care about.

Everyone keeps talking about the two Clarkston guys being ND leans.  Dellinger has one crystal ball, from the ND guy, almost a year ago.  Spindler has 4 crystal balls, one from the same ND guy and then another from another guy who is in the bottom third of all 247 guys.  His other two crystal balls are for UM, one from a Michigan insider and the other from Trieu, who seems to be pretty consistent in his picks.

My point isn't that ND isn't in the running, but the talk of them having early favorites seems based on specious data.

I'd like to add here, how good Spindler's father Marc, was, pre-injury... he was to be a NFL HOF player, and dominated college, thats how good he was..the best player in college on D at the time...but blew out his knee, and bad... Lions drafted him early, despite pundits saying Spindler was done... did rather well on a gimp knee...   He was GREAT at Pitt....  if his son is anything like him, and probably is, we need to land him.

Allen Trieu as recently as a couple weeks ago thinks Rocco is leaning Michigan and Dellinger leaning ND, although they said they want to be a package deal. Payne has seemed like OSU ever since Mattison left which is unfortunate.

This Blog is a joke sometimes. Unless you are one of the "famous" MgBloggers you get downvoted and attacked for posting wondering why Michigan is losing an instate recruiting battle

Id rather posts like these than posts about Cavs hiring a female assistant or the plethora of other OT threads

Cass Tech... has at least four kids with offers. Three with Michigan offers Raheem Anderson(Oline), Kobe and Kalen King linebacker and corner.

Terrence Enos(Online) camp at Michigan but haven’t received a Michigan offer. He has offer from LSU, Kentucky, Maryland and few others.

If by "both seem to be Notre Dame leans," you mean that they have 3 CBs to ND collectively between the 2, then you would be correct lol
