Offensive tackle recruiting continues to be an enigma.

The o-line is set for next year-in a very good way...a return to greatness of old. Four starters returning...Mayfield, Stueber and Filiaga ready to go-and possibly Hayes and Honigford...with other juniors and seniors ready to back up the top tier players.

OT: Higdon's graduation will be a big loss. However, I just watched a clip from one of the sites entitled something like "The most physical back in the 2019 class". It was all Charbonnet...and it is OMG!!! I think Michigan will be fine with the returning RBs...but this Mr. Charbonnet is an elite talent. The lights are bright at Michigan and it looks as though the seas are parting. No reason for pessimism here.

Edit addition: Regarding Mr. Benhart, he would have been a nice addition. My eyes, ears and head continue to inform me that Ike is the best of the three that were in play. If Michigan can add Ike and or Keegan this 2019 o-line class can be up-graded from very good to great. With Jones and Rumler Michigan can be assured of two high performing starters...and Barnhart, Carpenter and Stewart may well become just as good.

I think it's funny that you think I'm Maizen but I must say hijacking every thread that I post in with this stuff is getting old. You can speak with ClassofLSA2000 if you'd like that confirmed but I think you need to move on and find some new material instead of accusing people of being other posters every time they deliver news or an opinion that you don't like, thanks.

Also to the poster above, I posted this because he was arguably UM's top offensive tackle left on the board. Sam Webb just went down to see him in Minnesota and interviewed his entire family. He's not doing that if he didn't think UM didn't have a good shot or was a serious player. But you "just googled him" so clearly you know something I don't.

Hello Maizen Diagonal Bluey,

Your obsession with concern trolling is disturbing.  Your responses are textbook to what has come to be expected with any account you post from.  The name may change, but the content is always the same.  I would recommend that you read the FAQ before returning to posting, but I know you are well aware of the FAQ so it wouldn't really help you out much.  As for now, you can add this account as yet another one of your accounts that is banned from posting.  Have a great night!

Maizen will reappear under his actual user name when we lose out on a big recruit we are favored for, or we lose a game we shouldn't.

In times of success, he disappears.

All you geniuses screeching “Maizen!” are just as bad as any possible critical spin on recruiting.  Yeah, we get it...Maizen tended to be critical now anyone who posts a criticism is labeled Maizen.  Do us a favor, read the comments before you subject the entire board to 100 ”Maizen!”’s

It’s not that the post is critical, it’s that it’s entirely asinine.

1. We have two 4 Star tackles committed

2. Benhart was always going to Nebraska

3. We likely lead for Top 150 OT Trevor Keegan

4. OT recruiting and recruiting in general is not an “enigma”. It’s going extremely well right now.

1. We have one. Trente Jones. We've currently got one 4* (Jones) and two 3* (Barnhart, Stewart)... and both those 3* (along with Filiaga) look to be guards at the next level.

4. OT recruiting is not going "extremely well". Alabama with a 5* and two 4* actual tackle recruits is doing extremely well... we're just doing ok, and still taking a few too many inside guys and not enough tackles.

" Have you seen what Warriner has done with Runyan Jr over the course of the season? "

Yes - turned from a MAC level turnstile into a mediocre P5 starter.

Considering what he has done with Runyan - what do you think he could do with Jonah Williams, Greg Little, or Dalton Risner? Maybe a touch better than he could do with Runyan?

Making the "Would you rather have two good things vs. one?" argument is fairly dumb. Of course having the best coachable talent with the best coaching is preferred, however, recruiting doesn't work that way (unless you are Alabama, Georgia, etc which apparently can walk into the recruiting store with their no spending limit credit card and the NCAA doesn't care)

For Michigan, the pool to pick from starts smaller. It takes significant effort to find the right recruits. That is why I trust guys like Harbaugh and Warriner to be able to find the right matches for all five positions on the line and turn them into a cohesive unit. That means there will be a fair share of 3* big tight ends and tweener guard/tackle prospects who turn into very good college tackles.

Harbaugh and Warriner think those 5* guys are the right recruits - or they wouldn't prioritize them over the 3/4* guys they have been getting.

In general, Harbaugh/Warriner aren't prioritizing the lower ranked guy - they're settling after they fail to land the bigger fish.

In cases where the coaches believe the lower ranked guy is better - I trust them. In cases where the coaches believe the higher ranked guy is better but settle for the lower ranked guy - I still trust their evaluation that the 5* guy was better.

I will be happy with this years O line recruits to see Danielson Ike commit here. Apparently Alabama and Michigan are his final 2.
