Per Allen Trieu:
Michigan scores their first 2025 commitment with CB Chris Ewald from Florida, a heavily-recruited, highly-ranked prospect who the Wolverines started recruiting early and got to campus several times.

Nice! so now we've got like a 10% chance of landing him:)
December 16th, 2022 at 3:21 PM ^
Of course, there's only a 7% chance of that being accurate.
December 16th, 2022 at 3:37 PM ^
And a 4% chance that 7% is accurate.
At this rate, Zeno's Paradox might drive us nuts.

Regardless of whether this particular recruit sticks, this is a great sign for long term program recruiting. Being in on guys like this early helps raise the profile and get the name out more in certain areas of the country's recruiting circle for the '24, '25, and '26 cycles. More good players interested is a good thing!

Seems like a nice get. Where are we with the QB from Belleville? I can't lie, he looks impressive,
December 16th, 2022 at 6:40 PM ^
On a Michigan Recruiting Insider a few months back, they were basically saying that if we get Jadyn Davis, we're probably not getting Bryce Underwood. Just how QB recruiting works these days... unless you're OSU
Not getting any of Dante Moore, CJ Carr or Bryce Underwood is certainly going to produce some strong reactions though
December 16th, 2022 at 9:35 PM ^
Man, Bryce Underwood looked phenomenal and still has 2 years of H.S. to play. He already has two state championships and is legit 6'4 with all the tools. We have to continue to recruit him regardless. Could you imagine him going to Ohio and making us regret not showing him love.

2025 graduates?! Burn it all, I'm getting too old.
December 16th, 2022 at 4:18 PM ^
I grew up in the 80s and 90s. When I was younger I did the whole in year 20xx, I will be such and such years old... 2027 is 50. Sheeeeit.
December 16th, 2022 at 3:24 PM ^
Now ya got to keep him for 3 years.
December 16th, 2022 at 3:26 PM ^
A lot can change in a few years....Such as Will Johnson being a top 5 NFL draft pick 😁
December 16th, 2022 at 3:26 PM ^
Top 5 class in 2025 already!
December 16th, 2022 at 3:29 PM ^
Wake me up in 2 years then I'll celebrate
December 16th, 2022 at 3:39 PM ^
You don't have to sleep that whole time. You can just wait.
December 16th, 2022 at 4:13 PM ^
Is that you Rip?
December 16th, 2022 at 4:59 PM ^
Id suggest you stay awake for us winning the national title this year, beating MSU and OSU AGAIN next year and returning to the playoffs…
December 16th, 2022 at 7:39 PM ^
Take some Hibernol.
December 16th, 2022 at 7:40 PM ^
Wake up in 2 years!
December 16th, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
NIL / SEC / Just keeping it real. Let’s hope at some point Michigan will get with what’s needed in college football today. Not being negative by any means. Kids today don’t keep their words most times. Let’s hope this is a start of better recruiting for Michigan! #GoBlue win the natty!
December 16th, 2022 at 3:31 PM ^
Unfortunately a committment this early guarantees we don't get him.
I wonder if committing early and being a high level level recruit would lead to bigger offers from schools trying to flip you.
December 16th, 2022 at 3:44 PM ^
If he's a high level recruit, he'll have dozens of offers anyway, as well as coaches calling non-stop, whether he's committed somewhere or not. For a lower level recruit on the other hand, an offer from a big-time school could generate some buzz/additional interest from schools that might not have normally looked at the player.
December 16th, 2022 at 4:15 PM ^
This is right. This kid is going to be a national recruit either way. What it can do is start momentum for the 2024 and 2025 class.
December 16th, 2022 at 3:32 PM ^
Huge pick up, hopefully we can keep a kid from Miami's backyard committed
December 16th, 2022 at 3:32 PM ^
Hell yeah!!!
December 16th, 2022 at 3:35 PM ^
Oh hell yeah!!
December 16th, 2022 at 3:37 PM ^
even if he doesnt end up here, or doesnt pan out.. having a .98 can only help bring in more highly rated talent
December 16th, 2022 at 3:42 PM ^
also, my endorphins dont trigger with this kind of post. can we stick to.. HELLO: please???
December 16th, 2022 at 3:46 PM ^
Nice to have him! We'll see if he stays.
If he's as good as his recruiting rankings would indicate, it won't be long before Georgia, Alabama or A&M throws a Looney Tunes-sized bag of money with a dollar sign on it onto his living room coffee table and dare him to say no.
December 16th, 2022 at 4:15 PM ^
Speaking of hopeful early commitments and possible collisions with bags of money, am I the only one fretting over the growing distance between Jadyn Davis's end of season and no announcement? (Hoping there is just an orchestrated deluge of good news for the 2024 class scheduled around 23 NSD).
December 16th, 2022 at 4:53 PM ^
There are 6 QBs in the top 25 transfers along with a whole class that could flip until they sign on NSD. I wouldn't declare until I knew who each of my top schools will have in the QB room as well as how the rest of their class is shaping up with particular attention to the OL and WRs.
December 16th, 2022 at 5:26 PM ^
The new line in the sand is early signing day. If this day passes without a recruitment, I’d say it’s not unreasonable to expect talks about a new 2024 qb offer or potentially a transfer after spring practice finishes (or both).
December 16th, 2022 at 4:52 PM ^
To me, this is a sign that Santa has, indeed, arrived to Ann Arbor. No way an elite 2025 kid from Florida powerhouse program with no known prior ties considers committing unless we have some plausible pathway to a competitive NIL program that we are pitching or expect to be pitching by then.
December 16th, 2022 at 4:58 PM ^
It's the Clink factor. He was selling kids on Kentucky when they are perennial cellar dwellers in the SEC. Selling kids on a school that is going to the CFP again has to be a lot easier. Plus, a 15 year old might assume that the money will be the same no matter where they go.
For sure, the NIL funding and distribution is something that we need to address long before he finally decides.
