You know that little voice you thought you buried? The one that said “I think they can do this” when the defense held Penn State to a field goal after the fumble gave up the lead? The one that says Erick All, playin' hurt, is a star? The one that attached itself to Hassan Haskins and held on through gang-tackles, over fools, and around the edge to win in penitence? Let that voice sing.

And you can’t have one without the other!

Also hockey swept, and field hockey made a ridiculous comeback, and Dos a cero II! Bring us home, hoops!

Well said, Seth! Congrats and kudos to the players and coaches. Some will come on the board and nitpick the play calling and say "Michigan deserved to lose" or " Penn State isn't even good". That's fine, let them. Much about winning football games is overcoming your imperfections and not flinching when the going gets tough. This team doesn't quit and they believe of each other. I'm so proud for them for how hard they fought and they never panicked when the momentum had a chance to consume the game in PSU's favor. This is a fun and easy team to root for.

Well done gents! And Go Blue!

Maybe PSU was not good for a 3 week stretch ending the week before last, but that PSU team today played excellently and super-tough. Clifford & Dotson played tremendously. The O line made running room and sometimes time to pass. (Helped by 1 total holding call, on a tackle to ground they tried to ignore too but couldn’t, on 65 plays worth of 3+ holds each, but still.) Only an even tougher and even better effort from our (also injured) team won that game!

This game really felt like their Alamo of the season, as it did for Nebraska when we played them. I agree with your point, and it doesn't get recognized as much as it should. When you have a competent or explosive team trapped in a corner with their season on the brink, that's a dangerous team; and if they have any fight or resolve in them, you're gonna get their best shot.

Penn State is a wounded team, but they have some really good players. Especially on defense. Michigan got their best shot with whatever they had left and still got the win on the road. That's impressive. Respect to Sean Clifford. That guy was beat to hell late in this game and he still hung in there and finished the game. That game was a battle of wills between two good teams and Michigan did what they had to do to earn the win in Happy Valley. They should take a lot of pride in that.

WOOT! GIGANTIC WIN over PSU. Worst Michigan can finish is 10-2. UM guaranteed of either the Rose bowl, Fiesta bowl, or a spot in the college football playoff. GO BLUE!

Seth, man, — can I call you Seth? — you are doing an awesome job in keeping up the sky high quality of this site’s content and analysis. So, for me anyway: put Seth in that list of stellar performers worthy of muppets!

What fun to win a big game against an opponent playing super-well and tough, because we’re tougher and better! Love rooting for this team!

McNamara's fumble recovered by Penn State a blessing in disguise?

Rather than recovering but with a 4th down, then kicking to PSU and letting them take time setting up the go-ahead field goal, Michigan gets the ball back, thanks to the defense, and  the offense has time to do something.

Where does THAT fit in UFR?

Stout game for the D. Dealt with tempo. Smart use of a timeout when not ready in second half. Not caught subbing. Mistakes of Lansing have paid their dividends already. That loss generated this win.
