Talking Cars Tuesday: What was your childhood dream car?
Let's stick to what was in production at the time.
What car got you going in middle school? Corvette? Ferrari? Mustang Cobra II....?
For me, my dream car being produced as a kid was the (brand new!) Dodge Viper. I also fancied the Corvette ZR-1 (C4, mercury marine version).
I had a poster of a Vector W2 up; but I'm not sure if that ever reached production.
Ferrari F50 was mine.
not the most outlandish or crazy car but I've always wanted (and continue to) a Porsche 911 Turbo
Datsun 240Z
When I was a teenager (late 50s and early 60s), the only real choice was the Vette. I have always loved the 1957-60 Vettes. Then, when the 1963 Corvette came along, WOW! I can still remember seeing it at the Detroit Auto Show in bright red. Years later, I did buy a used 1964 Corvette coupe and really enjoyed it; great car, very fast and (unfortunately) an unbelievable cop magnet.
Still want one of those two.
Orange BMW 2002 tii
OR
White Lotus Europa. Actually was able to use one for the summer and it was great fun to drive. I would constantly get pulled over by cops that just wanted to look at it. Having your date get out of it in a formal dress would drive the car parkers crazy. I would park it at the local bar under a semi trailer if there wasn't an available parking space. Never could get the damn thing into reverse.
White T-bird, for some reason....
Aston Martin DB5. White Mustang with blue stripe. Porsche 928 (TINS).
1968 Yenko Camaro
KITT
Now i look at the car, and i want to throw up! lol
What kid wouldn't have wanted the Batmobile?

I grew up in a Toyota family, and one of the baddest things around when I was a kid was the Supra Twin Turbo. They're few and far between, but I'd love to have one.
Still want one of the McLaren ones but it seems the only way to find one in proper condition is at Barrett Jackson or another auctioneer.
would that I could upvote this more.
I lived abroad when I was younger, saw a LOT of JDM cars in Asia that we wouldn't dream of stateside. One day, I hope to Grey Market import (It's legal now that it's 25 years old but I haven't the money) a 1993 Skyline R32 GTR. One of my dad's coworkers drove a black one like this and I remember being positively giddy as a kid hearing the engine fire up. I rode in it a couple times and what I would do to have that thrill again.
on Velocity? It's a newer car renovation show that deals with JDM imports. Skylines, Fairladies, et al. It's pretty good if you're into those shows.
but I will have to watch a couple episodes!
1967 Cameo ragtop.
I also loved the 1962 & up Chevy II's.
Unfortunately it was not until the ZX that the Z cars stopped rusting away.
Even the ZXs weren't great in that regards. In general Japanese cars were overhwelmingly rust buckets (at least in northern climates) until the late 70s. They were still a bit spotty through the early 80s, but by the mid 80s they had generally figured it out.
1968 Jaguar convertible I saw at the auto show one year.
It was absolutely breathtaking.
Almost bought a ‘65 for $6000 in the late ‘70s.
But is wasn’t a ‘63.
Now they are worth $70K to $100K
A red 1992 Porsche 911. I had a picture of one in my room for probably 5+ years and dreamed of owning one for a long time.
Porsche 959
Mid 90s Porsche 911 Turbo (993). Still so flawless.
