Beilein & Izzo's Demeanor Towards Players
I've noticed a trend in a lot of MSU games that Izzo benches his premiere players for random weird guys for 10-20 minutes a game (anyone find JJJ yet?) even to the detriment of the team. On top of that, he goes ballistic whenever his players make mistakes.
Beilein on the other hand lets the players go through the ups and downs and even plays different combinations of players especially earlier in the season much to the chagrin of the fanbase. You also never see him get in the kids' faces and scream at them.
It seems kind of obvious that these kids respond better to learning on the job even if it costs us a few games early on rather than getting screamed at for small mistakes and benched in big moments.
Yup, I still have no idea why JJJ plays so few minutes. He would play at least 25mins for any other team including Duke and Ky.
he never plays 25 minutes because he would always foul it.
This couldn't be more accurate. I've seen that reasoning referenced multiple times, but this is th first time I actually went to look at the numbers.
JJJ fouled out 5 times this year, but failed to reach the 25 minute mark in any of those games. Adding to that point is when he was able to play 25+ minutes in a game (13 games), it was only once (Michigan) against a tournament team.
He benched JJJ so that he would not be so prominent, his draft stock would drop, and he'd go later in the first round, thereby assuring he'd land on a much better team. Pure selfless genius. Sacrificing his own legacy and MSU's chances in the game for the good of his players.

year 3 either.....
unless you like that red-faced excuse maker, and that town where male athletes can do whatever TF they want with no negative repurcussions
In fairness to Izzo, JJJ looked pitiful today. Not the type of guy that has success against that zone. But yeah, Izzo is really not that good of a coach, I feel like guys get worse the longer they stay under his coaching umbrella.
Did you watch the game today? He was atrocious.
On the year he averaged one three made per game and only takes an average of just under three a game. Is that what you consider a shooter? Because I don't.

It pretty much is against that zone.
This just goes to show that you likely didn't play much basketball and don't know much about basketball strategy. Breaking a 2-3 zone like that is done by working through the man at the FT line. He needs to be able to shoot a mid range jumper, hit a pass, or drive. 3's are not the only way to beat a zone, matter of fact settling for 3's is a surefire way to lose against a zone unless your team is on fire that day. JJJ is a perfect player for this position. Miles bridges would be a great player for this position as well.

To be eligible for 3pt percentage leaders according to the NCAA you have to make at least 2.5/game, he averages less than half that. So I am not sure 3pt shooting percentage is the best barometer for what a "shooter" is with such a low volume of 3pt shots.

What Izzo has done well is recruit $ and keeping players for 4 years, where would our program be if if Trey, Nick, Mitch and Caris and others would have stayed
If you don't want to lose guys early to the NBA, don't recruit them.
While I agree JJJ didn't look great today, I completely disagree that he isn't the type of guy that has success against that zone. He has the perfect skill set to put in the middle and kill a zone like that. Unfortunately for him he didn't execute well today when he did play.
I don't even care if Izzo leaves, I feel confident in Beilein beating him most games.
and I approve
Can we stop creating msu threads? Our basketball program has some serious little brother tendencies on the basketball side.
I'm fairly certain our basketball program is not responsible for any of these threads.

And the answer will still be "No."
I downvoted all three.
So did I, very thoughtful of him to give us that opportunity.
He really destroyed Bridge's draft stock
