Would have been a great hire by all accounts. Also, in many minds he was somebody this fanbase has wanted to replace drevno at OC. Wright will be a highly pursued power5 coordinator in the next year or so, so getting him early would have been wise. He was also a top nominee for the Broyles Award this year. In other news, things are getitng very, very interesting in regarding this programs search for another coach.

God I want to live in Coronado.

For about $1.5M you can have your very own ocean front condo. A modest house will set you back double that. I lived in SD for 11 years before coming to my senses and realizing that I would probably never be able to retire there on a middle to upper middle class salary. I loved the weather and proximity to Vegas though.

And I have told them if they are gonna sell their current house and use some of their nest egg on themeselves, they need to move out there, I think the weather and sunshine alone would extend their lifespans a few years after spending most of the last 50 years in Michigan.

No doubt he’s of joined up if it was for OC though.
What kind of offense does he run?

Will the band continue to play the Jaws theme with McElwain on staff?

Michigan went from the 89th-ranked offense per S&P+ in 2014 to 38th in 2015. So yeah, it is not beyond reason that a team can change year-to-year. And if you don't think a young team can imrpove dramatically year-to-year, remember that Notre Dame entered 2016 with one of the youngest teams in the country and proceeded to go 4-8. The next year, with a bit more luck and more returning experience, went 10-3.
So there is lots of evidence that a team, even with basically the same staff, can experience significant improvement year-to-year.

My God. This fan base can be the absolute worst sometimes.

Huh? 8-5 was Harbaugh's worst record. It was Hoke's second-nest.

It's also being reported by Sports Illustrated. LINK
REPORT: Former #Florida HC Jim McElwain has agreed to join the #Michigan staff as their 10th assistant. He will fill the spot that Dan Enos left and will work with the WRs. #B1G @BigTenNetwork @landof10

First, Enos uses UM like a handkerchief
Second, one true offensive lineman in recruiting class
Third, not being able to fill final coaching position
Fourth, considering mcilwaine for final coaching position, because to me that certainly seems like settling.
If anybody has the connections to go pull a good offensive mind/recruiter, I figured it would be Harbaugh.
This doesn't seem to be the year to settle. Next year is critical. On field success is going to be difficult, but imperative to flip the narrative of the staff, and turn the recruiting successes back around. I look at this hire as a chance for Harbaugh to regain some of his innovation.

First, good riddance to Enos. For all we know Harbaugh just stuck it to Saban. Given MSU's toxic sports culture I am not sad about this development.
2, yes, it would have been better if we had signed more OL. That is a sore subject but Bama and OSU will sign them and steroid them and we can't control that but I do believe we will maximize what we have, and coach them, and we do have some promising redshirts from last year.
3, wrong ... wrong. the position is coveted and will be filled with a solid hire. not named Enos
4 McElwain a good hire if that happens, and very interesting. Opens up some possibilities. I have to bleach my brain from the images as we will no longer be joking about him that way... definite possiblities
February 11th, 2018 at 6:53 AM ^
A repeat of last year is one of the most glaring. The eligibilty of a certain transfer will help though. Then there is the glaring issue of OL play. So if eligibilty for Shea is not granted and no improvement with OL then I can see a repeat. That being said IF my aunt had balls.....something something something
