Being in the same profession I completely understand, especially since employers are under no compunction to keep you around. However, if someone jumps around a lot it does raise eyebrows. If you're a consultant or a hired-gun that's one thing, but if you're interviewing for permanent positions prospective employers are going to see the resume and have second thoughts about hiring a person that doesn't stick around.
For Enos it isn't a good look and that may come back to bite him in the future. A lot of people will be laughing (or sighing in relief) if he falls on his face.

Define what an "Associate Head Coach" is first. How does it differ from an "Assistant Head Coach" or a "Head-Coach-in-Waiting"? How many "Associate Head Coaches" can there be? If it is only money, we probably could match it. However, there is probably someone better than Enos we could pull for that money also.

The guy was "uninspiring" a week ago and the architect of bad offenses at Arkansas.
Suddenly, he's Bill f'n Walsh.
Jeebus.
Time for a walkabout.

I think the point is more that half this board shit on the guy from the second he was hired, but now that he's leaving they're proclaiming how great he is and declaring the sky is falling that we're losing him. Seems more than a bit hypocritical.

For me it's about data points.
We now know that both of the teams that played in this year's championship game wanted him. That says that Harbaugh was probably right to want him.
And now we lose him to one of those teams.
At the very least it's not good for optics. It gives the impression that we are a second tier program and whether you agree with that assessment or not, it's not a good look.

What do you think is a better long term strategy?
Be an assistant (of any kind) at Abama where you are virtually guaranteed to play for a national championship within a couple years, and be able to jump to almost any other high paying SEC gig.?
or
be a somewhat better paid assistant at Michigan and perhaps wallow in mediocrity before jumping to . . . the MAC?
easy choice.

I wouldn't go that far. Durkin went to Maryland, positions coaches have moved up to coordinator jobs or NFL jobs. Both Brown and Partridge got offers. Being at M is still a place where coaches can work to move up the ladder, so that's not an issue.
Bama has certain advantages right now that few schools have. They're located in a talent-rich area with pre-built interest in the team, so it makes recruiting, one of the more arudous tasks, a whole lot easier. And having great talent makes winning easier. Enos doesn't have a strong connection to M anyway so he probably looks at it a lot more objectively than any of us.

Here's another fucking data point...
One a few days ago "Iowa with a bigger stadium" fended off this same NC team for Chris Partridge.
How quickly the romper room forgets.
You win some and you lose some (and I'll take keeping CP over losing Enos anyday of the week) but if anything this is indicative of Harbaugh's eye for coaching talent. I'm sure he didn't have a shopping list with one name on it. If he thinks he can upgrade the coaching staff I have no doubt that he will.

it does look like things are unsettled. I don't honestly see that we can legitimately challenge for the NC without massive luck next year, anyway. And given the sked that will hardly be Harbaugh's fault. Have half a mind to ignore mgoblog until 2020.
