OT: Bama fan has concerns for "foreign" qb
September 13th, 2017 at 11:48 AM ^
If real, then it's funny in a sad way. If it's a rival trolling their fan base, then it's brilliant.

In defense of us Yankees who learned to square dance in 3rd grade up here in the furren North, I'd suggest his confusion may be more basic.
September 13th, 2017 at 11:53 AM ^
I, too, learned how to square dance at the tender age of, ahem, 3rd grade (8, 9 yrs old?). And, like a good Northerner (Yankee, Canadian, whatever), I forgot how to square dance by the 4th grade and never looked back.

I think we all have the elementary school Canadian Stomp and Electric Slide deep in our Yankee souls somewhere.

Here are both your hands.
Here is a map.
Please see if you can find your ass.
We'll wait.
September 13th, 2017 at 11:41 AM ^
A map (and a flashlight) have been of no use in finding my ass. Plus, if I'm supposed to use a map, that takes both of my hands. (I put the flashlight in my mouth, mechanic-style.)
I'm told my ass looks great in these jeans, but I've no way to know other than hearsay.

Bama fans ass is a state? When the F*^# did that happen?
September 13th, 2017 at 11:27 AM ^
I don't think the guy was trolling because he looks like an active poster, based on the screenshot. I would love to see if the responses were just as ill-informed.

Ain't gunna lie, does make you wander, don't it?

"Bro, you didn't know we hired three Hawaiian translators? That's what sparked the NCAA's inquiry into Division 1 staff sizes."
September 13th, 2017 at 11:44 AM ^
Wow....just....WOW.

To be fair to Alabama, the responses are as incredulous and mocking as here.
So there's that, I guess.
September 13th, 2017 at 11:41 AM ^
Draped in his confederate flag typing away on his apple 2 computer.
September 13th, 2017 at 11:44 AM ^
Ha! Like someone from Alabama can afford an Apple 2.
September 13th, 2017 at 11:41 AM ^
in fairness, i've been through alabama and it feels quite like a foreign country.
September 13th, 2017 at 1:06 PM ^
Both Alabama and Mississippi are barren wastelands. Drove through both on the way to New Orleans, and I saw no reason to stop in either state save for gas.

FWIW, the US Government appears to designate Native Hawaiians as a race: https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/HI
It is apparent many disagree with my opinion, but I really think this (mgoblog) thread fails. I get the humor. I love dark humor myself. I hate over-the-top PC police. This just isn't that funny to me. I hate lazy humor as much as I hate over-the-top PC police.
My first reaction is that the Bama blog original post seems like a blatant troll job. The OP hasn't made a single other post in the thread, even though several Bama posters are mocking the OP. Assuming I am wrong, and some racist, ignoramus spewed this nonsense for real, I see no need to give it air time here.
I find it pathetic whenever 11W, RCMB, etc. magnifies an ignorant pro-Michigan comment. This is the same nonsense.

In Hawaii, generally speaking, only native islanders are called "Hawaiian." Everyone else is a "local" or "mainlander."

In the tradition (pronounced trah-DISH-in down there) of the Deep South he's taking his cues from one of his betters:

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the states and territories he'd visited at that point in his primary campaign, since territories do vote in presidential primaries, and he was in fact a primary candidate in a bitterly contested primary when this video was taken. But yes, a rhetorical gaffe nonetheless. http://www.fairvote.org/puerto-rico-and-other-territories-vote-in-prima…
September 13th, 2017 at 1:20 PM ^
more than one time. I visited 10 states, 10 times each. I visited 100 states.
A gaffe to be sure, but did people really think that a Harvard educated US Senator didn't know how many fucking states there were?
/then again tan suit and dijon mustard were an outrage.

Are there any replies from Bama fans on that page? If so, I'd love to see them
September 13th, 2017 at 11:57 AM ^
want to study up on the origins and history of square dance, too. At least he thinks the kid is smart, I'll give him that.
September 13th, 2017 at 12:09 PM ^
