OT: Letter to Kevin Sumlin after A&M's Loss to UCLA
There are idiots like this in every fan base, I know. I even recall some of the horribly racist letters the Fab Five received from so-called "Michigan fans." But this is pretty over the top, both racist and threatening violence. Here is the content of the letter, editing out the obvious worst part:
“You suck as a coach! You’re a n—– and can’t win! Please get lost! Or else.”

Hey folks, we all love football. But it's a game, played by kids young men. Let's cut this shit out.

Looks like a woman wrote it.
People of 2017: please tell me how any part of this is ok. And to the sender: did it occur to you that a child may open it?#orelseWHAT? pic.twitter.com/Co1s2Hb94r

You sure? I din't see any <3 dotting the 'i's. It is kinda loopy chic writing though.

The letter came from Houston. Clearly, the writer must have had water on the brain. Or, at least that's what I prefer to think.
September 8th, 2017 at 10:18 AM ^
have their flooded homes, cars, farms, jobs, possible lost family members/pets on the brain too.

Obviously the sender of that letter doesn't understand that the "or else" can be considered a threat to Kevin. Oh, and by the way, if you're going to send a letter like that and you don't want to get caught, it's probably best to not have a return address listed. What a moron.
September 8th, 2017 at 10:41 AM ^
is already on Google autocomplete...so I've been told.
September 8th, 2017 at 10:50 AM ^
You do if it's an address that's completely unrelated to you.
September 8th, 2017 at 10:57 AM ^
That address shows up on Google maps as a golf country club

September 8th, 2017 at 5:16 PM ^
Or somebody wants you to believe that is who sent the letter.
September 8th, 2017 at 5:15 PM ^
The otherwise anonymous letter has a return address of a private country club. So yeah, I'm going with false flag.
September 8th, 2017 at 9:28 AM ^
Not a surprise, unfortunately.

they are tweeners. They may look a little bit more like grown men than your average college student but some of them probably still have a Lego set or two still assembled in their dorm rooms. The law might have said I was a grown man when I was in college but I sure still felt like a kid at the time.
September 8th, 2017 at 9:39 AM ^
I changed it to "young men." While not vital to the point of the post, some of these kids are fully developed emotionally, mentally and physically, while others are not. I've known 18 year olds more mature than some adults, and I've known 18 year olds who still needed a decade to even approach "grown man" status...
September 8th, 2017 at 9:43 AM ^
Former military here and as the Marine's letter alluded to last week. There are 18-22 year old men and women fighting and dying, so I have a hard time classifying college students as kids. Just annoying to me. My college age "kids" aren't thrilled with my opinion either!
September 8th, 2017 at 9:49 AM ^
Very fair. Your opinion may be a little one-sided though. Military folks are, by necessity, some of the most "grown-up," mature people on Earth for their age, by necessity. Hang out with some random college age 22 year olds sometimes. They aren't that mature ;-)

People generally live up, or down, to the standards of behavior you expect from them. 17 year olds that join the military are expected, it is demanded of them, that they act with the same maturity as any other adult.
September 8th, 2017 at 8:56 PM ^
Much more disciplined than your average young adult and their training allows them to accomplish some amazing stuff, but get them outside of the military structure and it's clear their decision making skills are still developing.

The guy lost one game. Get a grip, A&M fans.
September 8th, 2017 at 5:43 PM ^
If Michigan lost a 34 point lead in the 3rd quarter, I doubt anyone on this board would be saying "we just lost one game, get a grip UM fans".
September 8th, 2017 at 9:33 AM ^
On the one hand my reaction is "why even post this?" It's not about Michigan and what's to be gained by it? It doesn't shed any new light on anything or bring us something we were not aware of already. On the other hand, I suppose it's slightly newsworthy....

Well done.

Slightly more relevant when you know that Devin Gardner was getting the same hatemail when Michigan was struggling in Hoke's last year.
September 8th, 2017 at 9:45 AM ^
I found this relevant to college football as a whole. It never ceases to amaze me that a sport with such a massive proportion of African-American players has rabid fans that revert to racism so quickly. Um, hey dumbass racist dude, that team you were cheering wildly for last weekend, and whose coach you just called a N*****, is 75% African-American.
September 8th, 2017 at 10:16 AM ^
I'm betting the same fans were thrilled with Sumlin for over a half of that game.
September 8th, 2017 at 12:14 PM ^
I'm puzzled as to why you think someone here sent this letter, or anything like it (given that your take from this in the OP is " Let's cut this shit out.")
September 8th, 2017 at 9:33 AM ^
we should be able to find this person and just beat the shit out of them.
September 8th, 2017 at 10:34 AM ^
Better yet, out them and confront them in a situation where they could not hide behind their envelope or their computer screen. Preferably with Coach Sumlin and a couple of his players (of various races) in the room.
It would be quite a teaching moment and no violence would be necessary at all. Just calmly attack each premise of his hateful idiocy. "Explain to us about your racial superiority. Also, now that we're face to face, would you like to call me any racist names or threaten me? "Why is it that you did not sign your letter - seems like abject cowardice to us, but explain to us why it isn't." Etc.

I hope the Jim Hermann making dumb comments in the Twitter thread is not the same Jim Hermann who was formerly a Michigan D.C. It doesn't look like him, but maybe if he's 15 years older and shaved his mustache...
September 8th, 2017 at 10:16 AM ^
quite a bit different these days but it's definitely not him commenting on the Twitter thread.
September 8th, 2017 at 5:47 PM ^
Wait, that's our Jim Herrmann? Whoa.

Hahahahahaha, yup, false flag. Racism is all gone, this never happens, it's only used to produce sympathy so the liberal left can defend affirmative action programs and eventually replace all white people with brown people in the new global world order.
P.S. Hurricane Irma doesn't really exist. It's just a ploy to send bottled water...

I thought it was a ploy to get me to drink all my homebrew before we lose power. 1 gallon down, 34 to go...
