OT: ND AD wants to play B1G every year
With the announcement of ND/Wisconsin series apparently ND AD wants to play the B1G opponent every year. Then dump the ACC and work out an agreement to join the B1G I know one team we can get rid of..*Cough* Rutgers *Cough*

Notre Dame really likes playing off campus games...

Wonder why they're even bothering to renovate the stadium, when they're just going to play in Wrigley, or Lambeau, or Ireland, or Dallas, or in a Nascar infield, on an aircraft carrier, or on Mars, instead of in South Bend..

Most people today dont realize that the Irish and the blacks were direct competitors for low end work after the civil war and the irish were prejudiced against in a similar manner.

From the article, it looks like ND has an interest in playing at least 1 Big Ten team per year. That's it.

They'd get their ass beat worse than they are now by the likes of Duke.
They can't even beat Northwestern. They've lost to them the last two times they played, the last being a 43-40 game one week removed from M00N.

It's marginally interesting that they are branching out to some fresh B1G teams, but they routinely played 3 B1G teams per year in the not-too-distant past. Regardless, screw them.

The new ACC grant of rights signed last year goes until 2036. It now has language in it that says if Notre Dame is to join a conference it has to be the ACC. (If they void this deal, the ACC gets to keep all of their tv revenue, so it will never happen).
Basically, the B1G is ND's girl on the side that only gets attention when they need something. I'm already over the rivalry, I say the B1G just stops scheduling them.

I'm surprised ND would get shoehorned into a deal like that. Too bad the B1G wasn't able to screw 'em that way.

Charlie Weis showed how good they are at negotiating. They paid him $10.3M to not coach ND between 2010 and 2014 while he was a coach elsewhere.

No use trying to pawn off Rutgers. We could agree to an annual BIG-ACC challenge for football to sweeten the deal.
Not scheduling ND is pointless. It hurts our schools more than it would ND.

How does it hurt our schools? We dont need ND

They are gonna get murked by Ohio State. Wonder if they are regretting that matchup.

I love it. After getting a taste of Wake Forest and NC State, Jack Swarbrick comes crawling back to the Big Ten hat in hand asking for a game per year. Well, sir, you shall have your game....against Rutgers.....in November.....in Piscataway....every year. I think that will satisfy the requirements for their 5th win each year.

Big Ten should've said thanks but no thanks in hockey too.
I get why Harbaugh wanted them back on the schedule, but at this point, they can go be what they want to be.

I agree about every other sport but hockey. B1G hockey sucks so bad we actually need ND for the RPI

All of the B1G alums living in the NY area is what brings the NY market. Rutgers itself was never intended to do that. And adding Maryland brings the entire east coast population centers into the market.
I hated adding Rutgers and Maryland but in the media climate that existed at the time I can see the logic. However shortsighted.

It might be the result of the ND faithful complaining about the long distances for their road games or not liking their new rivals. Makes no sense for them to be associated with the ACC on a practical sense. But apparently the $'s and the ACC giving ND everything they wanted in the negotiations. The Big Ten should hold out for really favorable terms with them.

No Idea why Michigan and the rest of college football gives Notre Dame preferential treatment. Stop scheduling them and force them to join a conference or shrivel up and die. They need us, we don’t need them

I want to play them, but let's keep the B1G Notre Dame free. They would find a way to claim supreme control over the conference if we let them in. They need to stay independent as an outward sign of their cowardly behavior.
