Michigan Podcast (Ed-it's not a joke but it's a joke)
New Michigan Podcast https://youtu.be/zUNle-l2PxQ
[Ed-S: The podcaster takes himself seriously but you should know going in that any value you're likely to find there is in very much not doing so]
Actually not a trap. IMO, this is one of the better podcasts out there now, but we will see if it's sustainable since it's so new. Certainly looks good coming out of the gates.
This guy posts a lot on the Scout board. He's a professional radio broadcaster in Iowa (conservative talk show host), so that's why the quality of the production is pretty darned high & why his delivery is smooth in terms of production value/technical chops.
On the Scout board, he never mentions politics as far as I can tell, so I assume he'll keep "separation of church & state" if you will, on his podcast too. He's been a very professional/quality poster over on the Scout board so I assume that will carry over onto the podcast.
The big issue for the future will be if he can bring in quality guests & have insigtful commentary (either insider gossip or maybe X's & O's technical analysis) on a regular basis rather than just random dude's hot take of the week.
In the regular season there's enough content to keep me busy just reading the various sites. But in the dog days of summer I do find scouring the Internet for new content, and I was pleasantly surprised to find this one.
Figured I'd check it out and watched one of his Youtube podcasts. I must not be the average MGoBlog reader -- I thought it was pretty good, a nice combination of some original content, an interview with someone from the world of Michigan football, and some historical M football video. All done with unusually high production values. You may have found a clunker, but I sampled a couple more and found them worth listening to as well. Different approach than MGoBlog, but that's OK.
Maybe it's his politics (which are not present in the football stuff at all) you really have a problem with. That's clearly your perogotive, but I don't see why it should shade any reasonable person's impression of his football content. And what little I sampled of his radio show recordings were clearly conservative or far-right in some eyes, but not "extremism and hate speech" by a guy that "just pretends to be a garbage human for ratings".
Apparently he's just a huge Michigan fan with a background in syndicated radio who was deeply involved in the last cycle, being in Iowa and all. Interesting back story on him at https://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/08/magazine/steve-deace-and-the-power-of-conservative-radio.html
I'd recommend people check out his M football content, they might like it. If his politics aren't to their liking, try to look past them (not that they're discernable) as many including myself do with the politics of the operators of this site. I think the M tent is large enough to include the full political spectrum.
Dude, we were laughing our asses off at how bad he was before anyone had any idea what he did with his day job.
As for his politics, I said "polemiscist" which means a specific thing: he actively tries to create controversy through hostility. He uses the forms of political speech but only to poison them for the sake of his own notoriety. This is somebody purposefully damaging political discourse in a democracy to make a buck--I call that a garbage human being.
really started scouring the internet for all things Michigan content and found some good podcasts out there that I got hooked on here in the slow summer days

Wolverine sports radio has a pretty good collection of podcasts.

If it is, I hope he gets hammered as badly as I did when I Rickrolled the board. Cost me a buttload of points.
points are in a buttload?
asking for a friend...
It's definitely more than an armful of points, but decidedly less than a metric shit ton. I shall leave the rest to the imagination, as the amount tends to vary based on the mood of the board and the relative humidity in Helsinki.
now my rickroll post is unoriginal and jejune
I can tell you put a lot of thought into this post.
More elite than Lovie Smith.
Less elite than Nick Saban.
Boom, saved you a wasted click.
I have watched all of them as they are new.
They are a good follow on twitter as well.

This guy must know a lot. He has a doctorate in Michigan Football which was apparently given to him by Jim Harbaugh and Warde Manuel.
