Mlive's Nick Baumgardner with some news from the first practice in Rome.
Titanic? Pearl Harbor?
C'mon, Braveheart has some good competition for most inaccurate film ever... Pretty much anything Hollywood releases that claims its a (somewhat) historical film.
Gods and Generals was actually panned for being ~too~ historically accurate.
One of my favorite movies. But then again, I ~am~ a Calvinist....

I want to love "Gods & Generals" because I loved "Gettysburg" and "The Killer Angels" upon which it was based. So when "G&G" was released, I bought my ticket, sat back, and waited to be mezmerized.
I'm still waiting. It was one of the most long-winded, poorly-written, just plain boring movies I've ever seen - and again, I LOVE the subject matter. I desperately wanted it to be great, and it simply wasn't even close. It might have had historical accuracy, but what it needed more was a film editor and a script writer.
You're saying Abraham Lincoln never hunted vampires?
Mind blown.
just catch & release.
you have just won a month of up-votes!
You mean Abe Lincoln, Vampire Hunter wasn't a documentary?
Might be topped by another John Wayne offering, The Alamo.
without a bridge???
Without a doubt, Vertical Limit owns this title.
Abraham Lincoln didn't kill vampires? Next you'll say Caligula didn't really like orgies.
Resistance is futile.
Sometimes it makes the blade stick.

has Ruiz became the best center ever yet?
Peoples-Jones...
or Black...
or Bunting...
I'll guess DPJ, but it's hard to say with high turnover at the receiving positions this year. I think Evans will lead skill players in total touchdowns (easy prediction, I know).
The Hammering Panda makes it a less easy prediction.
And the buzz about Black is turning into a runaway train, if Nick's filing here is to be believed. Said he didn't let a ball touch the ground.
Let's not let a couple of his great acrobatic catches fool us: Darboh was good but not great at getting everything thrown his way. If Black is able to win jump-ball battles the way his spring has promised he is going to be a monster.

6'4" is going to help him and the kid can leap. He could become a real threat as a Freshman for this offense.
"Have you heard of this new sect, the Christians? First of all, they are so poor that they only have *one* God! But we Romans are rich. We've got a lot of gods. We've got a god for everything. The only thing we don't have a god for is premature ejaculation... but I hear that's coming quickly."
"We are so poor, we do not even have a language! Just this stupid accent!"
"She's right, she's right! We all talk like Maurice Chevalier!"
Your Majesty, you look like the Piss Boy!
Yeah, well, you look like a bucket of shit!
You don't have "History of the World Part 1" committed to memory?
April 28th, 2017 at 10:41 AM ^
I'm still praying for History of the World Part 2 to get greenlighted. But, you know, without Dom Deluise, Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman, Gregory Hines, and about 90% of the rest of the cast already "no longer with us," it might not be quite the same...
I was surprised by the sheer amount of info generated by a helmet only practice. Some good filler material regarding Black, Runyan, and Hudson. I devoured it, but find myself wanting more. The season opening kickoff is right around the corner, right?
Just 128 days.
Ugh.
Unfortunately
As an aside . . . Jim Harbaugh is #2 Trending on Yahoo Homepage.
Good publicity for coach and the program all over the place.
Maybe adjust your title there, guy.

and good to still get some football news this time of year. Still feel there is a lot of competition ahead for all positions and let the cream rise to the top by September.
did the Pope suit up?
Appreciate the news. Baumgardner still has a, um, style all his own, and he apparently aint changing it for no one.
Your post is quite vague. What do you see as Baumgardner's "style" and what is it you think he should change?
To be clear, I'm not disagreeing, but I'm curious what you mean.
