Randy Edsall returns to UConn
Alot of us were waiting for the other shoe to drop after Diaco was fired. Apparently, they just wanted to bring back their personal Benedict Arnold -- though this still might be better than the "ConFLiCT Trophy" saleman they had before.
My take: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. This seems dumb.

So why not return home? Sounds like a good move for him.
December 28th, 2016 at 12:13 PM ^
But I don't know why UConn would take this POS back. How do you coach a team to a loss and then leave IMMEDIATELY to take an interview for another job? That's a jerk move.
December 28th, 2016 at 12:22 PM ^
It is a pretty good move for the school too, considering he was their most successful coach. He did the same thing other coaches do every year, leaving for another job, he just went about it in a chickenshit way.

Well their AD is David Benedict, so maybe he has a fondness for those types.

and the Fiesta Bowl. Just looking at straight winning percentage is very deceptive.

But after being single for a couple of years, dating trash and coming to the sad realization that your whore wife was still the best woman you've had or likely will have anytime soon you might at least consider it.
I know U Conn did.
December 28th, 2016 at 12:48 PM ^
But I thought you upgraded your wife. Where does this comment fit on the timeline?

I'm not U Conn.with this coaching change.
I'm University of Michigan

And maybe the whore wife will invite some of her whore girlfriends over?

If I was married to Jessica Alba, strangely I have this feeling somehow I'd overlook that.
Bottom line: pragmatism > principles. E.g. University of Louisville.

Hello.
I have nothing to add of consequence, I am just required to post a response whenever Jessica Alba is mentioned.
Have a great day.

Makes you think that Brady Hoke should return to Ball State or San Diego St. Everybody was happy.
December 28th, 2016 at 1:29 PM ^
I think SDSU is pretty content with their guy, Rocky Long.
Ball State, on the other hand...

Long is 66 years old and has been at SDSU since the 2009 season (two seasons as Hoke's DC and the last six as the head man). His teams have been good, bordering on great. I think he'll retire an Aztec.

With everyone returning to their old schools, I wonder if Brady would ever be interested in coming back as DL coach here. Luke Fickell took his embarassment as the 1-yr HC at OSU and stayed on, it would be a good fit for Hoke and everyone in Ann Arbor to swallow their pride and bring him back to coach the DL one day. Great guy, great recruiter, always had great D-lines.
December 28th, 2016 at 1:55 PM ^
That isn't a comparable situation, for three reasons. First, it was understood when Fickell took over that he was an interim HC, and that they'd be looking for a bigger name, so it wasn't so much a "demotion" for him as it was a return to his normal position. Second, Hoke is tied to the Shane Morris concussion fiasco, so I think there would be a lot of questions in bringing him back besides his coaching ability. Third, Hoke hasn't been a DL coach for 15 years, and we have a pretty awesome one already in Greg Mattison.
December 29th, 2016 at 11:13 AM ^
by stating that Hoke did not have a DL coach after Jerry Montgomery (?) left for OK (?). So he actually did coach the DL.
I feel like Hoke mismanaged the Morris situation but the biggest epic fail is on the part of the referees. If you review that play its one of the most egregious targeting violations ever committed, of a 270#-ish player head-launching into a 210# player who is looking somewhere else, after this rule went into effect and was a no-call. Get that call correct and a bunch of other stuff straightens up. People were mad about losing to Minnesota, that's the bottom line.
Mattison won't coach forever, I'd like him to stay as long as he wants but I think buried somewhere Harbaugh actually likes and respects Hoke but can't really acknowledge that further than his initial press conference.

MSU can rehire John L. Smith.
December 28th, 2016 at 1:24 PM ^
Edsall basically made UConn what it was before he left, going from the 1-AA level to a two-time BCS conference champion. After his embarrassing Maryland tenure, I doubt he'd jump ship anytime soon, plus I'm sure his contract will have some kind of clause discouraging another midnight train departure.
December 28th, 2016 at 4:14 PM ^
I get the idea of going after someone with previous head coaching experience, but really? They couldn't find a promising Sun Belt coach to poach?
