It's a simple did he make the 15 yard line or not. Ball starts on the 25, so the ball just needs to reach the 15. Clearly was short.

Michigan doesn't even have a chance to win without him today. He was basically the only reason the offense could move the ball at all. Also that pick 6 was more on the terrible play call and terrible pass protection than on Speight.

I don't agree with this. I do think Michigan will beat OSU with Meyer as coach. I think Harbaugh is an excellent coach. I think he is recruiting at Micihgan well enough that we could possibly beat them as early as next year. I wouldn't bet on it, but I wouldn't be surprised. However, I do think this was the year that Michigan was probably at an advantage talent wise. I'm sad they lost this one.

I don't think this is true. I think Michigan could beat OSU as early as next year. I wouldn't bet on it, but I wouldn't be surprised. That was a tough game to lose. In large part because I think Michigan was the more talented team.

Obviously, the officiating in this game was terrible. However, I don't agree with your assessment that it's getting worse, or has declined over time, with one exception - replay.
I believe replay has impacted games in two major ways:
1. Super slo-mo, high-def replay changes the perception of both replay officials and fans. Bang-bang plays are parsed frame-by-frame, and calls are altered because of it.
2. Refs are trained (or self-taught) to call things differently now, knowing that replay will make a final determination. Rather than making a judgment and standing by it, refs will call things in a way that allows for replay to overturn.
IMO, replay just doesn't seem to make watching games more satisfying. It slows things down, and so often doesn't "fix" things. Yesterday's game was a perfect example.
That said - I still have nightmares about Charles White's phantom touchdown...sigh.

Holy shit were the refs living in Urban's back pocket. We didn't help by taking a few correct ones of our own but there were several missed calls, any of which is probably enough to escape in regulations.

That was not a first down.
Hate to be 'that guy' but that wasn't a first down.

I agree. This must be what Sparty feels like.

We went toe to toe with them and lost. We're back. Losing AGAIN sucks so hard but for the first time in forever I feel like we were able to go toe to toe with OSU's best and be competitive.

Michigan showed Harbaugh could take the mess Hoke created and turn them into a top 3 team. We lose a ton on the defensive side so next year will probably be rough but we'll keep getting better over the next few years

Are we back? Right back to losing with our best shot? We've played competitive games with OSU before, so we just happened to be ranked higher in this loss.

Someone hold me and tell me we will win this game someday.
November 26th, 2016 at 4:29 PM ^
But if you would have told me at the beginning of this year that we'd lead most of the game and have a chance to win at Ohio Stadium in 2OTs, I'd have said no way. U-M got nuked in this game at home last year. There's been progress, even if it doesn't feel like it right now.
