He admitted to making a mockery of his votes weeks ago.
This is a guy who has a vote in deciding a national champion as far as the AP is concerned.
I'm in. Thinking of resigning my as voter immediately. https://t.co/2rlC3rEBB3

His Tweet actually reads like something a "drunk uncle" would say. Seriously, read it using a drunk accent, preferably while sitting on your couch with a Busch in your hand...

it would matter. But it doesn't. The AP poll exists for no other reason than to generate readership/conversation (in fact, that's the only reason any polls exists before the end of the season). Since no one cares about the AP poll once the CFP rankings come out, at least he's generating some buzz. If at the end of the year when national titles are on the line, he doesn't vote the winner of the CFP, then there'd be reason to complain.

You really should not have the privilege to vote if you do not take it seriously. What a jackass.

this is well done because while it eschews normal rules ("NO POLITICS") it does so in a way that makes it unclear as to the leanings of the poster. well done russian president. well done.

I agree with Josh Kendall. If PSU or Wisconsin ever had the chance to play Michigan they would win in a blowout!

That a team's resume, win/loss record and head to head wins all don't matter?

How in the hell does he have Bama at #1??? They were playing fucking Chattanooga for shit's sake. This guy is full of shit, he's just filling out his rankings like this for attention and it's working.

His argument is complete bullshit. Basically it's "I want to be different cause if everybody votes the same way it's not diverse enough."
So to him 2+2=7 is acceptable cause it's different and who are we to impose our standards of math upon him?
I know some people hate to hear this but certain things are just fucking WRONG. Not different-WRONG. His poll with Wisconsin at #2 and Penn Fucking State at #3 is wrong.

It was directed at him and anybody who supports the notion that there are no right or wrong answers - just different opinions.
You were just the messenger. Sorry if you took some friendly fire.

to vote PSU @ 3 and Michigan @ 9 when Michigan throttled PSU 49-10, and OSU behind Oklahoma when OSU throttled OU in Oklahoma. Don't get it.

What's funny about this dude's voting pattern with Michigan is....well....let's roll it back to Week 7:
Week 7- #4
Week 8 - #3
Week 9 - #3
Week 10 - #4
Week 11 - #4
Week 12 - #11 (Apparently, Iowa changed his mind)
....and then of course the current week.

His explanation on how he ranks teams is pretty informative and worth reading. I mean if you enjoy looking at the computer screen (or phone) and thinking how in the hell he has a vote for the national champion.
I rank teams based on where I believe they belong that day and that week, and I change my ballot a lot from week to week. I am not disturbed that my ballot looks much different from everybody else’s ballot. In fact, I’m proud of that fact. I will continue to pound on the table against the notion that we should all vote alike. It’s the worst of group think. The whole idea of this thing is we all have different opinions and the average of those opinions should lead to an accurate poll, but we all have to have different opinions for these rankings to work properly.

Once you realize he has no idea that the rankings are based on the collective work of the entire season it makes complete sense. Although very flawed concept of what the rankings actually are.
November 21st, 2016 at 11:32 PM ^
-- This guy has no concept of the whole "body of work" idea that founds the backbone of intelligent ranking systems.--
Mediocracy2 on idiot from SC that shouldn't have an AP vote due to ignorance.
November 22nd, 2016 at 12:08 AM ^
I mean it is unique and kind of interesting and I can sort of buy into a few ideas like having USC highly ranked. But some of the other teams like PSU and Oklahoma and Wisconsin scream recency bias and an over emphasis on killing lesser opponents rather than winning close games against good opponents.
His whole underlying premise is that his qualitative assessments of teams is more accurate than W-L but if you wanna go with that there are more objective complex and valid fancystat systems that are probably more useful than some random writer's opinion on who is good or not with minimal emphasis on actual outcomes (losses).
November 22nd, 2016 at 12:10 AM ^
Also, by his purported reasoning of ranking by how a team plays that week, how in the world do you wind up with Louisville ahead of Houston after getting spanked?
November 22nd, 2016 at 3:07 AM ^
If he actually followed his own logic then Houston would be #1 with the most impressive win this week and OSU would be somewhere around 50th having one of the least impressive wins of the week.
