Who the hell forced JON FALK out if he didn't want to leave?
February 18th, 2016 at 12:46 PM ^
February 18th, 2016 at 12:48 PM ^
one guess.
February 18th, 2016 at 12:51 PM ^
He didn't...

Santa Claus. . .
DB, your douchiness gets douchier by the day. ..

Although I'd believe it I DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE IT.
February 18th, 2016 at 1:01 PM ^
just assuming. I hear he's the cause of the West/South Quad norovirus thing, too.
February 18th, 2016 at 2:37 PM ^
I'm imagining DB wearing Snidley Whiplash clothes while cackling and pouring a "norovirus powder" on SQuad dining hall's teriyaki chicken.
February 18th, 2016 at 12:57 PM ^
which stans for Douche-Bag....
but I could be wrong...

you even need to ask.
I wonder if there is a more widespread effort at recovering the many others that were forced out in Brandon's quest to obliviate the soul of Michigan athletics.
Brandon always struck me as someone that might poison your drinking water and not tell you about it. /s

I was always under the impression he wanted to retire. How did I miss this?
February 18th, 2016 at 2:13 PM ^
I was too, but recently I heard Bacon describe him as forced out.
February 18th, 2016 at 8:57 PM ^
How could something like that have been omitted from BLL?
February 18th, 2016 at 3:46 PM ^
Insider rumbling has suggested otherwise, but to his credit, Jon went out of the way to tell people it was his choice to retire. It's pretty clear now the insider rumblings were correct and Jon was just being the true professional he always is.

He could be Toying With Us....

February 18th, 2016 at 1:35 PM ^
That's negative TEN MILLION points.

Fairly certain his initials were D.B.

I'll be back at Michigan this weekend for some events. Hopefully, I will get a few nuggets. I also meet with John O'Korn on Saturday.

What's your source on this, OP? Both the fact that he's back and the claim that he was forced out.

February 18th, 2016 at 1:36 PM ^
A longtime (decades-long) friend of Jon's and one of the most connected people around Michigan athletics. He heard from Jon that he's back.
Falk being forced out has been an open secret for years, to the point that the WTKA shows have basically said it is what it is.

Rumor is he was asked to retire or would be let go...a casualty of db trying to put more "yes men" in the dept.

It's not on the Detroit News site any longer, but this gets to it:

He also made some comments on Facebook about the Fab Five and race, and had begun to get even more extreme in his role as a political commentator.
In the end, Michigan had a valid point in letting him go. Either you can be a political commentator or a sports broadcaster. His work in the former was reflecting poorly on the university, both in his tenor and the frequency of his headline-grabbing and somewhat ill-placed comments (to tiptoe around the obvious politics-are-verboten implications).

But fried chicken is the food of the Gods and anyone that thinks or says otherwise is wrong.
February 18th, 2016 at 1:34 PM ^
Ah yes, I remember his Fab Five comments, and I agree with your assessment.
February 18th, 2016 at 1:38 PM ^
Beckmann is not coming back, now or ever.
His political statements grew increasingly unbecoming of Michigan, even against Michigan in some ways, and he is still bitter about Michigan not keeping him on and endorsing his political views.
Contrast that with Falk and Madej, who left in name only and were never really 'gone' for good.

expect Michigan to endorse his views. Anyway, it's really the radio booth's loss...Brandy and Dierdorf are really not good together.
