This isn't a confirmation or an announcement. It's simply stating what everyone knows already.

So easily overlooked in the frequently giddy atmosphere around these parts.

I would rather take on UF because a) they don't have Leonard Fournette b) they have a worse offense than LSU and c) Les Miles is the homie and I don't wanna root against him :(

Just like they kicked Arkansas' ass?

I don't understand the fear of LSU, I think they are a great matchup for us. We've been very tough against the run all year, with only two exceptions -- Indiana ran tempo and gassed us, and OSU had a deadly running QB and also went pretty fast. I don't think LSU can hurt us the way those teams could, even with the great RB. And I think Rudock will look good against their pass defense, which is mediocre. We win that game if it happens.

Those two exceptions are two of the three games that we have played since losing Glasgow. I believe that's why people are concerned about the run defense.

I'm a huge Miles fan and I think he's a lot better coach than many on this blog give him credit for, so it's not just about their monster RB. He's a Michigan man through and through, and I don't like to root against any of our own.

Indiana and OSU gashed us with basically the same strategy. LSU's run game is much closer to Penn State's who we stopped (and OSU, Northwestern, and State didn't stop) just fine without Glasgow. Fournette would get some against us, but it would not be cold blooded murder, we can hold our own against a power attack, even without Glasgow.

Hopefully Mone is back by then?
November 30th, 2015 at 10:16 PM ^
Would you rather have Mone for an entire year or in a semi meaningless bowl game?
It's one thing to get him back for PSU and OSU when you have a valid chance at playoffs. To lose an entire year of eligibility so we can pad our record? No.
November 30th, 2015 at 10:20 PM ^
No way we burn his redshirt on a bowl game.
November 30th, 2015 at 10:21 PM ^
I just really don't want to see another RB go all Biakabutuka on us is all.
December 1st, 2015 at 3:11 AM ^
You mean ENTIRELY meaningless. Look, of course you want to win every game, but any bowl game that isn't part of the playoff is a glorified exhibition game. There is no way in hell you would burn a player's redshirt in a non-playoff bowl game. NONE.
I have as much chance of playing in the Citrus Bowl as Mone does.

You do not burn a redshirt for a bowl game. Plain and simple. Its not a means to anything but game experience which Mone would get much more of with a full year to play. You make this call if you are playing for a national championship only.

Agree that there is no way you burn a redshirt on a bowl like this. 100% agree. But these bowls are not meaningless at all. Only 4 teams make the playoff. You can't just a season but just making the playoff or not. Michigan beating LSU and ending up in the top 15 matters. It won't get them a national championship but it is a guage on where this team and program are.
I never understood the importanace of bowl games until I was working as an atheltic trainer at BG and saw how much urban meyer cared about them. For an established team like osu who is truly in "championship or bust" mode that may be different for a team building and growing it most certainly matters and will go a long way in recruiting and showing where this program is at. It is not the be all end all and no reason to burn a redshirt I agree but it does matter.

Exactly! It's not the be all end all but it does matter and makes a difference for a team like michigan who is on the up and up.
November 30th, 2015 at 10:05 PM ^
So playing against the best RB in the country after getting destroyed by another top 5 RB the previous game. I'm not sure that I feel very good about that.

JT Barrett has something to say to you about being a not-very-good-passing-qb against Michigan when having a beast RB in the backfield. (See TD passes to Michael Thomas and Jalin Marshall)
I mean I hear you on the zone read and QB keeper stuff, but you cannot say our D minus Glasgow hasn't been a little exposed especially against elite running attacks.
I guess the question is whether LSU can try to keep us even a little honest throwing the ball with a month of prep. I haven't watched enough LSU ball this year to know if they can or not.

Glasgow most likely won't be playing. Pectoral injuries take awhile to heal.
