Remembering Trey Burke's Three Pointer (Virtually) at the Buzzer vs Kansas
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqlPF2gak6Q
Trey Burke is a man.
Where did everybody see this play? I watched it live, which was pretty cool.
OK...
Yes Trey is a man, well I'm at least going to take him at his word on this
If you don't know how to embed maybe don't just throw up a full post without researching it? It is very simple to do, and has been discussed here on the site many times.
1. For the YouTube video find the embed code (should be under share tab) and copy it.
2, Switch to plain text editor for your post on MGoBlog.
3. Paste in embed code.
4. Switch back to rich text editor and you should see a box with the word IFRAME in the middle. That means the video's set.
5. Write whatever else you want and click save.
I was at Blue Tractor watching the game with Mike Hart and his wife who was slightly embarrassed at the amount of noise we were making... cool story bro!
I turned the game off.
One of my best friends from school(who has become my best friend since) had just gotten home from serving in Afghanistan and I was hosting him in my home, seeing him for the first time in many years. I had the game on, but I get famously grumpy when my teams are losing, especially UM basketball, as it's the sport closest to my heart. When things looked like they were getting out of hand I took action to make sure I wasn't going to be a shitty host. I didn't check the score until OT.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Off-season Gahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was at a bar called South in LA, which has unfortunately since closed. It was definitely the best Michigan bar in town and there were several hundred people in there just going crazy with the comeback. Probably as with most places, it was more disbelief than anything as once we were down big most people had just transitioned over to drinking heavily...
Almost felt sorry for the Kansas fans at the bar... but then again why were they there?

Gotta say, I'm glad cashing out took awhile as I would had left if I was done a few minutes earlier.
I was in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I tried and tried to find the game somewhere in the hotel, but no luck. (Never schedule a vacation in a foreign country during tournament time when your team is good.)
So we took a cab into town for dinner. What will be will be. After dinner, I was able to find a sports bar that had the game on one of the TVs. There were around 2 minutes left and we were down like 12 points. OK, this is over. Where can we get ice cream?
But the team kept coming back. I settled in and ordered a beer. Dos Equis lager in the green bottle. Refreshing.
Every time it looked over, we would come back, courtesy of Kansas and Elijah Johnson as much as us. Kansas misses a foul shot and we're down three. Trey drives up the floor . . . and then launches a rocket from damn near half court. Trey, Nooooo . . . . YESSSSS!!!
The place was quiet until then, but then it went nuts. More people were watching than I thought.
Overtime was intense, yet just a formality. I knew we were going to win, Michigan knew we were going to win, and most importantly, Kansas knew we were going to win. I ordered another beer.
After the game, I hoisted my seven year-old daughter on my shoulders and we walked down the very crowded street with her shouting at the top of her lungs: "Michigan!, clap, clap, clap . . . partying!! Michigan!, clap, clap, clap . . . partying!!"
We went for "Elite Eight Ice Cream" at the Playa del Carmen Dairy Queen. Ever since then, she gets Elite Eight Ice Cream when we make it that far.
Given the setting and the situation, it really was one of the coolest Michigan sports experiences I've had.
We also made the Final Four when I was down there, but that game was over by the time I was even able to check the score. We connected in Atlanta on the way home and I remember looking out the window of the plane at the Georgia Dome as we were landing thinking "We're going to be playing there in the Final Four in just a few days. Amazing."

Was pacing back and forth for the entire last minute yelling at my TV screen. When Burke sank that shot, I think everyone on my apartment floor could hear me scream.

Was at my grandparents house with my dad and brother. Everyone else was sleeping, and we woke the whole house up when Trey hit that shot.
I was right under the basket he made it into. Well, a few feet behind it, but the ball was falling almost toward me as it came down. (That's how I remember it) Pretty cool moment.
That whole tournament in general was awesome (except for a few parts at the very end...) I made a mini-shrine to that team in my room.
In Blondie's bar in NYC with some friends who are sports fans but not Michigan fans. They were all giving me condolence comments as I was losing hope and then the GRIII and Trey show took over...
Anyways, we're at a 2 story bar overlooking the coast and I'm the only Michigan clad patron in the building. Fortunately for me the bartender loved that and wouldn't stop bringing shots after Trey out down the dagger.
Thankfully I was in a strange land far far away from where I'm from, for i have never been so emotional and loud during a game in a public place.
Great freaking memory! Thank you Trey.
Front row in the third level of Cowboy Stadium. I was with Michigan and Florida friends and sat next to a Kansas fan by himself. We talked at half time about what to expect in the second half and I explicitly told him that Trey Burke would stop passing and start putting up some points on the board. At some point during the second half we joked about overtime. After the game, he just gave me his ticket for the elite 8 game.
When Trey made that shot my mom started bawling her eyes out. It was an emotional day but Trey made it so much better.

Is there an archive feature on this site where we can read the front-page articles from that great tourney run? I'd love to see them again without having to click back 279 pages.

The Trey happened as we were walking to the car.
We watched the rest of the game on my iPad in our car in the parking lot, then went home and watched the whole thing together.

I still get excited when I see the shot. A contested 30 footer that required an amazing screen by McGary.
That team was so much fun to watch. I'm not sure we will see another Beilein team THAT talented and explosive in the starting 5, but I think we will have teams that are one or two notches below that the next few years that will find success.
