Michigan is pursuing former NFL standout outside linebacker Pernell McPhee for a defensive support staff role, sources tell 247Sports
McPhee played 11 seasons in the NFL, including seven with the Ravens with new Michigan DC Wink Martindale. Coaches that have been around McPhee view him as someone with the characteristics and makeup to be a fast riser in the coaching world and to eventually become a head coach.
Cool name.
Nickname should be "Nanny".
The Nanny comin to get ya!
This nanny spanks ya!
This nanny hits ha--
no,
nope
lo ciento
Adding more talented stars to our coaching staff always sounds good to me.
Apparently he's also from Pahokee.
I was going to post that if no else had.
Now all we need are Vincent Smith and Martavious Odoms for offensive analysts.
We like Pahokee, also Riviera Beach!
Thread title was not very informative.
Underrated.
Should have just titled it "Pernell McPhee, what do you think???" and not included a link.

or just "Pernell McPhee?"
"Justin Feagin did something with the Michigan football program at one time and has now become a meme on MGoBlog"
Now that's a thread title.
He's a dog. Took the role as Ravens pregame Hype Man after Ray Lewis and Suggs moved on.
This is how we're gonna do it.
We will become a football factory for future head coaches.
Mission Accomplishing:
Sherrone Moore
Mike McDonald
Biff Poggi
I know I've got to be missing some.

Hmmm...
Also a dude who made a cameo in my personal favorite Neck Sharpies where Seth breaks down the Ravens ameoba the year before it was installed by MacDonald.
He's was one of those oversized edge attackers. Would love to pick him up if he's a rising name in coaching, imagine him mentoring Derrick Moore or Enow Etta.
I'm surprised folks don't recognize the name.
He almost came to Michigan.
Rich Rod recruited him. Check out this post from "hold me" TomVH.

You beat me to this, but yeah I remember him being a RR target.
This would be a tremendous hire. Like 15/10

As a Ravens fan - LOVE this hire. I have no idea how he'll do as a coach but loved him as a player.

Take it for what’s worth, but the former stalbomb X handle has also mentioned another hire is happening that is from another rival. He did allude to a big time hire in presumably Tony Alford roughly a week ago, but he could have gotten that from a paywalled site. Interesting at the moment.

You know, it looked like it could go poorly early on, but I have to say, Coach Moore really did assemble what looks to be a really good staff.

Pulling Tony Alford from osu is *chef's kiss*

But is Pernell an OG?
Home run!

Wasn't he a RichRod recruit that either flipped commitment or we narrowly missed out on?

Mentioned earlier, Michigan and Florida recruited him hard out of junior college, but he committed to Mississippi State. He was captain of the team that beat Michigan 52-14 in the Gator Bowl at the end of the 2010 season (his senior year). Sad emoji.
Let's see if this makes sense.
Over a decade as a player in the NFL. Familiarity with the Ravens defense. Young and energetic. Played for Michigan's DC.
This sounds like a great fit.
