Braylon Edwards: A superhero?
Apparently Braylon Edwards saved an elderly man from an attack inside of a locker room at a local YMCA. I wonder if his cape is maize and blue colored with a big block M?
Braylon Edwards has always been my hero.
Braylon gets a lot of hate from the fanbase, and he's made a lot of very public mistakes. But I have to say that in every interaction I've ever had with him, he was a legitimately nice guy. Not something you get a lot with star-player-types. Great story.
I’m with you Bando. Very public mistakes and regrettable behavior but one time I ended up in a conversation with him at the DIA and he was very personable and kind.
As long as he's sober, he's awesome.
Which, come to think of it, probably applies to most people.
Why in the world would a 25 year old ever beat on an 80 year old?
Seriously wtf is wrong with people.
Because there wasn't an 81-year-old around.
“Seriously wtf is wrong with people.”
They are people. People are gonna people. We all mess up. Some more than others, some in different ways, but we are just people and people will always people.
Beating an 80 year-old goes beyond “messing up.”
Seams like this is happening more often than it used to. Maybe it’s just getting reported more often.
I think that respect in general and respect for older people in particular has been deteriorating for a long time.
Why do you think that is?
Since I'm old I can remember the 60s and the catch phrase: Don't trust anyone over 30. I really believe that was the the beginning. Elders were generally respected before then.
Shoot. Bad time to be getting old. Can I maybe hit pause and get old later, when the fad for beating up old people has become a fad for, say, helping people across the street?
This is as close to "everybody murders" as I've seen in a while
Please don't normalize it. That sort of casual acceptance and rationalizing of a completely inappropriate act only serves to encourage shitty behavior by "people".

It’s very hard for good people with no exposure to the criminal world to understand the criminal mindset. Your sense of right and wrong just doesn’t apply.
I'm sure alot of people would've considered me a "young punk" in my 20s but I would've never put a hand on an elderly person. I don't care where or how you grew up, you still know right from wrong
Who decides right from wrong? Depending how you were raised 100% changes that moral compass my man.
The litmus test is would you like what you’re doing to someone else happen to you my man.
Indeed, good call, Matthew 7:12
Who decides right from wrong?
Last time I checked, it's a criminal offense in most jurisdictions to physically assault someone.
Unbelievable that someone would downvote what you posted there, Don.
Just wow.
I down vote Don all the time. I upvote him as well. That is the point of the system
Yes it is. I meant in general who determines right from wrong. Moral compass comes from somehwhere, no?
Government is not necessarily a dependable source for determining right and wrong. (See North Korea, CCP China, Nazi Germany, today's Russia (come to think of it, also previous Soviet Union/Russia), Pol Pot's Cambodia, . . most governments throughout history..
Exactly. This is my point.
I am in agreement.
US had a government during well... you know.
And the USA
There's alcohol, there are drugs, there are people from rough backgrounds who are just pissed off at the world, there are people who grew up in circumstances where they have to fight to stay alive and that's their overriding instinct, etc. And some people are just plain sociopaths (who are not as rare as we might think).
It's a crazy world, man. It's hard to imagine how someone could do such horrible things when the overwhelming majority of people you or I interact with on a daily basis are sensible folks, but there's a reason why we have police, courts of law, and militaries in society. Bad shit happens, unfortunately.
It's true. Most criminals were either born without a moral compass or exposed to high dosages of lead. Or both.
Is that why you're the way you are, Vlad?
I don't know why you're being downvoted, but this is correct. If you're a product of that world, you don't always think like a normal person. That's part of the reason why so many people find it so difficult to break out of that cycle.
I’m no angel but this tests any bell curve.
It sounds like the elder man was complaining that the young guy was playing his music too loud, which apparently offended the latter's personal honor.
Earbuds, folks.
While ear buds would have been the polite thing to do. The elder man probably could have worn his own ear buds to block out the sound or ignored it. The problem is everyone thinks everything is about them and their needs and preferences. Our society/culture is the most selfish in the history of the world. Want a lesson is Meology 101, just open your eyes, it’s all around you and likely in your hand rn.
I think it's a basic courtesy to not play music out loud in a crowded, public place. The people around you shouldn't be forced to put up with it.
100% this.
The fuck are you talking about?
While headphones/earbuds might have deterred the situation from ever taking place, the fact is this person assaulted someone 55 years older than him to the point where someone else had to break up the "fight". I believe the person also ran away from the scene, which only reinforces the idea that he, himself, knew he was wrong. Unless we're talking about the most fit, in-shape 80 year old in the Detroit-metro area, there likely wasn't ever a physical threat to the young person in question. I mean, what's more selfish than beating the shit out of an 80-year old man who can't fight back?
If you ask me, the real problem with society is when people find it necessary to play devil's advocate regarding a situation that very clearly has a "right" and "wrong" response. Believe it or not, not every situation entitles someone a perspective from the other side. Unless I'm missing something or there is an element of the story that is being left out, this is not a case of having to walk a mile in someone else's shoes.
Im saying this likely could have been prevented if both chose to just go their own way. I have seen alot of people think that they can say whatever they want and they dont realize they are poking the bear so to speak. I dont think it was ok to assault the guy, im saying perhaps rather than worrying about himself being disrupted by the music, just walk away.
Always yield to elders
Wait I thought it was twenty 5 year olds?
I've seen the elderly get seriously upset about loud music in the gym. Only takes one to forget how old he is and pick a fight with some kid about it.
Only half joking, but yes kid should have earbuds and should not be assaulting old guys, no matter whose fault the fight was.
Why in the world would a 25 year old ever beat on an 80 year old?
I take it we're looking for a reason other than the obvious, "Because he's a gutless pussy."
Was he a sparty alum? That would explain it.
watch enough F@X news and you will find out.
How weird would it be to be in that locker room and (1) see a 25 year old dude start wailing on an 80 year old, then (2) randomly see Braylon Edwards emerge from nowhere to whoop the 25 year old.
Just another day at the YMCA.
This is why I workout at home.
