Kris Jenkins runs 4.91 40
Not a bad showing for our guy

I bet he had a huge smile before and afterwards - and maybe even during. That guy is so good-natured. And he’s an insanely good football player. And, a National Champion.

And a Michigan Wolverine!
February 29th, 2024 at 4:50 PM ^
And a true Michigan Man!

And my axe!
February 29th, 2024 at 9:24 PM ^
He smells nice, huh?

Most likely to be a commentator on TV one day.
February 29th, 2024 at 9:16 PM ^
Follow in the footsteps of Jake Butt! Pretty cool that the BTN has a number of former B1G players in the studio or on the sidelines.
February 29th, 2024 at 4:06 PM ^
Lol. Jim's up there with his stop watch. Probably questioning the laser timer
"I dunno. I got Kris at 4.85 on that one"
February 29th, 2024 at 6:37 PM ^
Just curious. Is 4.91 good for a DT? I really have no idea.
February 29th, 2024 at 6:43 PM ^
5th fastest out of the 19 DTs listed. That's pretty good. His vert wasn't as impressive, more middle of the pack, but he is also tied for 3rd for broad jump and has the 5th fastest 10 yard split.
I wanna know his bench press number compared to the other DTs. He should absolutely crush that.
If he does he'll probably have the best combination of size, speed, and strength in the whole DT class.
I'm nit picking, but if you watch his 40 he has a little hitch/pause right after he starts. I'm guessing he could shave 0.05 to 0.1 off his time if he fixed that. Track people might know what that is called. Bottom line is that he is pretty fast for a guy that size.
I demand a comparison with another Michigan Man. I want it run with the Rich Eisen 40 yard dash.
February 29th, 2024 at 4:12 PM ^
Nice. What’s Kenneth Grant’s 40 time? (Hint: Less than Kaytron Allen’s!)
February 29th, 2024 at 4:14 PM ^
got to be up there with worst RB moments - getting tackled from behind by a planet, albeit an athletic freak of a planet
February 29th, 2024 at 4:22 PM ^
That was so awesome....
ok frames... our HC won't be at the game, we're going to run the ball all second half. Well, we'll attempt one pass, but we're going to run on every play but one. Oh and our 340# d-lineman is going to chase down your RB from behind...... prepare for humiliation......
February 29th, 2024 at 4:43 PM ^
Look at how much bigger he is than Will Johnson! Of the last three years this play is 1A. The full A belongs to Mikey Sainristil.
February 29th, 2024 at 5:52 PM ^
It looks like Will Johnson is starting to peel off pursuit. That’s pretty funny. He be like “I got you Kaytron, oh wait, hello Kenneth, I’ll get out of the way now.”
February 29th, 2024 at 10:35 PM ^
I was at this game. It was so beautiful.
I think Anthony Morelli is still laying there.
The RB does a little 1st down show off with his teammates. He has no idea that Michigan fans are going to watch this over and over for a Michigan player making him look bad.

Allen can't elude gravitational force.
"That's no Moon."
February 29th, 2024 at 5:14 PM ^
I've watched this play a million times and showed it to folks while crowing about our S+C program.
At the catch, Grant executes a "perfect" hip-drop tackle, the same play which ended Jordan Travis NCAA career, and which Jimmy Rolder used to bring down Cade Stover during his one meaningful snap in The Game.
I've heard about it potentially being banned (NCAA or NFL?) as too likely to result in catastrophic injury to the ballcarrier. So, how do you bring a man down from behind once you've caught him? Keep running until you're along side and pancake him? What is the preferred technique?
February 29th, 2024 at 9:43 PM ^
The answer is the same as in a PI (college rules) - you do the hip-drop tackle when beaten & not doing it could result in a much longer than 15-yd gain.
And hope not to get called for it!

Gift from the FB Gods.

I wont celebrate our big 3 on defense until post spring game and OSU has not paid them each 3M to leave
February 29th, 2024 at 4:21 PM ^
Really looking forward to following all these guys in the NFL.
February 29th, 2024 at 4:26 PM ^
Damn
Kris Jenkins is a DT prospect in the 2024 draft class. He scored an unofficial 9.55 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 74 out of 1620 DT from 1987 to 2024.
February 29th, 2024 at 5:08 PM ^
Nice. I see that his measured weight was 299, which reminded me of the Schembechler years where -- supposedly -- the dial went up to only 300, which meant that there were a bunch of offensive linemen who weighed 298/299.
February 29th, 2024 at 11:52 PM ^
Hopefully we keep his s&c coach
oh wait
In other words, 95th percentile of all DT in the last 37 years. That's clear 5 star territory from a guy that was rated a 3 star recruit.
As a recruit, he was listed as a 240 lb DE with free agent NFL potential. His father was a 2nd round pick that played 10 years in the league and went to 2 Pro Bowls, so he has the genes but still fantastic development.
February 29th, 2024 at 5:07 PM ^
Anyone know why McGregor didn’t run the 40 with the other edge rushers?
February 29th, 2024 at 5:17 PM ^
That’s Clink behind Jim.
February 29th, 2024 at 5:21 PM ^
Chop Robinson with a 4.49, so that puts the PSU gameplan into perspective (not that it wasn't apparent just from viewing).
February 29th, 2024 at 6:25 PM ^
I don't think Jaylen Harrell ran the 40, but his vertical leap (37") was better than Chop's which was impressive as hell to me.
February 29th, 2024 at 11:53 PM ^
Chop is under sized and will be broken by elite OTs
out RT was not elite that game or even close to a NFL player
I'd wager 100 mgopoints that Chop has a nice NFL career, I kinda want the Lions to take him if he drops. You can't teach speed. And, ummmmm, Barnhart IS going to play in the NFL as a guard, he was out of position most of the season. Weird take....

The average person runs in the 5.5-5.9 range. Just in case you needed to be reminded that these dudes are terrifying.
February 29th, 2024 at 5:47 PM ^
Like trying to outrun a bear.
"I don't need to outrun the bear, I only need to outrun you."
I'm sure that is a very old joke but I only heard it for the first time when I saw "The Imitation Game" and I still chuckle every time I think of that line.
It is the second funniest joke I have ever heard in a non-comedy film right behind Little Bill's joke about Nebraska in "Unforgiven."
February 29th, 2024 at 6:05 PM ^
I'd be pretty surprised if the average person runs anywhere in the 5's.
February 29th, 2024 at 6:10 PM ^
I had the same thought. I watched a bunch of regular folks run the 40 before a Lions game this year. A couple of pretty fit, athletic teens were the best of the bunch and they were slightly above 5 seconds. Most were far worse. (In case anyone wants to cite "Quora," no, I don't trust those numbers.)
February 29th, 2024 at 6:52 PM ^
Yeah I don't know if it's scientific data, but I don't have the kind of time required to gather 8 billion folks to the line so I'm rolling with it.
February 29th, 2024 at 7:06 PM ^
ChatGPT says 5-5.5 seconds. I give this five fakes out of five.
February 29th, 2024 at 9:36 PM ^
As a senior in high school, I was "hand-timed" at 4.97, which seemed to make my coaches quite happy. I was above-average fast for a 180 lb. senior, but by no means a burner. That was probably the best shape of my life, and I'm led to believe laser timing would add a good 0.2 to my time.
No way I'm getting within a country mile of 5.5 today.
