Red Wings at Ohio Stadium in 2025
According to ESPN's John Buccigross, the Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets are playing outside in Ohio Stadium on March 1st, 2025.

It's also likely that the event will include Michigan vs Ohio State, as the event as a whole will be Michigan/Ohio State themed.

They needed to find a way to get a win for a red team in that toilet bowl.

Feel like the Red Wings will need an alternate uniform for this one

I wonder how well Donovan Edwards can skate

There’s nothing good in Ohio for me to go see the Wings play in the ShitShoe.

I’m sure it will be against Sparty. They say they own this state now.

Lol, what year did you post this? 2014?

Please courtesy flush before the game.

Excuse me, what's the name of the home team? The Columbus WHAT Jackets?
February 14th, 2024 at 10:18 PM ^
I believe the name should the Blew Jackoffs.

I know not everyone is a hockey fan but you've seriously never heard of this team before?
February 14th, 2024 at 10:14 PM ^
Heard a few weeks ago that Detroit will wear UM-based gear (colors only) and Columbus will do the same for OSU. Which is an odd reversal but could be neat.

Maize-and-blue with the winged wheel sounds pretty awesome if they do it right.

This is what I was thinking and hoping for. It's still iconic. A winged wheel in maize and blue? Sounds awesome. I need WD to show us what it would look like. Think about the old english D in different colors for different events (Memorial Day and 4th of July, for example). it's still Detroit.

Not going.
As much as I love the Red Wings, no damn way I go to the toilet bowl wearing any colors other than Maize and Blue.
February 14th, 2024 at 10:44 PM ^
Why not wear both?
When the Wings and Leafs played, I had on my Red Wings sweater and a maize and blue scarf.
February 14th, 2024 at 10:48 PM ^
I just can't align myself with the idea of wearing anything in any shade of red in such a hell hole.
February 14th, 2024 at 10:51 PM ^
Wear a white Wings jersey 😁
I get it. I really do.
February 15th, 2024 at 12:18 AM ^
The initial rumor a while back said the teams would wear the colors of UM and OSU. Not sure if it's true but it was leaked before the game was even made official, AFAIK.

Bad look for the NHL to be so insecure in your own product that you need to piggyback off college teams. Especially to the point of reversing the colors of the RED Wings and BLUE Jackets.
February 15th, 2024 at 11:39 AM ^
I agree with this. Detroit's color is RED, and it's iconic. Changing it even for a single game would be absurd.
If Detroit can't wear RED in Columbus, just have the Blue Jackets play the freaking Penguins at Ohio Stadium, keep Detroit out of it completely.

What about January 1, 2014?
Thousands (if not tens of thousands) of folks who are both Michigan football and Detroit Red Wings fans proudly wore RED to Michigan Stadium, to see their team face off against a historic rival wearing BLUE.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't see why anyone would bring U-M/OSU into this. It's a hockey game, that just happens to be using a college football stadium (and it's already been done before, in arguably the best NHL outdoor game ever).

In March? It’s liable to be 60 degrees down there
February 15th, 2024 at 1:41 AM ^
So, weather might be a factor? Where have I heard that before?

CJ Stroud is heading to Walgreen's as we speak. Loading up on Tussin and Vic's Vapo Rub.

I was just going to comment. Wasn't the ice in Cleveland terrible for OSU/Michigan last year? And that was in January or February. I can't see the ice being very good in Columbus on March 1st.

Gross.

This will be the Wings' fifth outdoor game (not counting the Marquette prison game in 1954). If it gets close to a sellout, it's likely to be the second highest attended, after the Michigan Stadium Winter Classic in 2014.
