Michigan LB Joey Velazquez transfer to OSU
I get he's from Columbus but I mean why not go somewhere you can get on the field instead of a walk-on? Good luck to him I guess?

Edit: Hahaha, I feel like The Emperor in Star Wars with all these downvotes, "Let the hate flow through you!", keep 'em coming ya'll, "Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey to the dark side will be complete!"
Or, you know...maybe you could just read the article.

I don't think he was on the team by then. If I recall, he quit after OSU, so no B1G, Rose Bowl, or NC.
February 12th, 2024 at 11:27 AM ^
Whether or not Joey is awarded 2023 rings, he has 2021 and 2022 B1G Championship rings. Joey will also have something his OSU teammates will never have - a Michigan degree.
February 12th, 2024 at 4:08 PM ^
Oh, I wasn't knocking it. The poster above me said he'd be showing off his NC ring, or something to that affect. I was stating that he wasn't even with the team for it, along with the B1GCG, Rose Bowl and NC. Sucks he left early. He went the entire year without taking a snap... what's a few more weeks with your boys for those opportunities? Again, not knocking his decision. Although, on the surface, it's hard to understand, especially to pay your way at OSU and not play baseball.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:46 AM ^
This is really the only correct response--gallant, good-natured, and generous. And if I may also add: He can get f'd, eat poop, and expire.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:25 AM ^
I blame Warde
February 12th, 2024 at 10:26 AM ^
You better believe that staff is going to be interrogating him non-stop on what UM does on D. Though with Wink coming in I would hope any advantage that has would be largely mitigated.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:34 AM ^
Worked well when Alabama hired George Helow.
February 12th, 2024 at 6:20 PM ^
I miss Helow!!!
February 12th, 2024 at 10:27 AM ^
player safety issue
February 12th, 2024 at 10:30 AM ^
I would suggest pre-emptively suspending Ryan Day, but I don't think it would be fair to give OSU an on-field advantage like that.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:27 AM ^
Look, a buckeye can now say he won a natty.
February 12th, 2024 at 11:53 AM ^
And 3 Biggies
February 12th, 2024 at 10:27 AM ^
This is totally fine but iPhone videos made by people hired from Task Rabbit are the greatest scandal in the history of college athletics, if not the world.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:29 AM ^
So much weird shit that's inexplicable in college football that I can't care for everything. And I won't.
Please fast forward to September.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:31 AM ^
Because baseball is his main sport...you guys are incredibly uninformed fans based on the previous comments in this thread. It's not that hard folks...oh wait, never mind, EVERYBODY IS GOING TO TRANSFER AND THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!!
February 12th, 2024 at 10:35 AM ^
Someone didn't read the article. It's not that hard, folks.
He played both football and baseball at Michigan but per an OSU spokesman will only be playing football for the Buckeyes.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:37 AM ^
No I didn't, because the site is blocked at the school I work at, guarantee he suits up for baseball.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:43 AM ^
Maybe don't call the board uninformed if you can't read the article? We all know he played baseball.
February 12th, 2024 at 11:20 AM ^
If I were an Ohio State spokesman, I would also be adamant about him only playing football. This would clearly give Ohio State their first victory over us in close to 5 years.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:37 AM ^
Apparently its already been said he will only be playing football at OSU.
So what were you saying about baseball and how uninformed everyone is?
February 12th, 2024 at 10:38 AM ^
Hahaha, did they need another 6th string LB or something?
February 12th, 2024 at 12:34 PM ^
All time exposed comment right here. Laugh out loud bad. I mean, could not have gone worse. Read the article before being critical next time
February 12th, 2024 at 10:32 AM ^
What a shame. He'll only fail to chase the Don down from behind one day per year now.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:37 AM ^
Can we ask him to sign a non-compete or non-disclosure agreement?
February 12th, 2024 at 10:57 AM ^
after the last few years I think we've signed enough buckeyes to non-competes
February 12th, 2024 at 10:38 AM ^
Probably a good chance he won't even see the field next year at OSU.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:47 AM ^
That's not why they wanted him, and it's not why he's going there. This is pure information transfer.
February 12th, 2024 at 11:24 AM ^
Is Ohio State that desperate that they are poaching kids on our team who barely saw Special Teams minutes? I am pretty sure Joey just wanted to move on and Ohio State is allowing him this opportunity. The idea that by taking him is now going to give OSU an information advantage is ridiculous!
February 12th, 2024 at 11:26 AM ^
Is that a rhetorical question? Yes, they are that desperate.
February 12th, 2024 at 11:29 AM ^
The team that cooked up the Stallions stuff by hiring a PI firm is absolutely that desperate.
February 12th, 2024 at 11:26 AM ^
here's to hoping he feeds them a bunch of bullshit...
February 12th, 2024 at 10:44 AM ^
Maybe he will excel like Chris Rock….
February 12th, 2024 at 10:47 AM ^
He is there to be pumped for information. It’s up to Michigan to respond accordingly.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:50 AM ^
I guarantee he was lured with NIL to learn Michigan’s defense.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:52 AM ^
Jokes on them because we're currently reinstalling Don Brown's defense...
February 12th, 2024 at 10:54 AM ^
If you're paying your own way* and walking on to the football team, chances are pretty good that you're actually there to play school and football may not be the most important thing in your life.
Good for him if he has a plan for life after football and he's carrying it out.
* no, I have no idea what NIL looks like for a deep bench special teams player
February 12th, 2024 at 11:49 AM ^
Or you could just go and get your master's degree and not not play football for your school's chief rival. You know, if all you want is to play school.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:55 AM ^
He's a grad student who has played for Michigan for 5 years. Do we know if he would have a scholarship here next year? There's a possibility that the Michigan football and/or baseball team has given him a firm handshake and thanked him for his time and said it's time to move on, but he wants to keep playing sports so he's moving back to his hometown to be able to do that. This really doesn't seem like an issue to me
February 12th, 2024 at 10:55 AM ^
Is he going there to finish out his baseball eligibility? Hasn't he been in school since the Clinton Administration?
February 12th, 2024 at 10:57 AM ^
Doesn't really make sense to me but also not something I really care about either.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:57 AM ^
I know he's a baseball player as well so this decision may stem more from a baseball perspective than a football one.
I don't wish him ill personally, but from a football perspective, his departure subtracts nothing from Michigan's program and adds nothing to OSU's. I'm not sure he saw the field once in his time here. I wish you nothing but pain and misery on the football field for the rest of your collegiate career.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:58 AM ^
The article states he's NOT playing baseball.
February 12th, 2024 at 2:17 PM ^
Then I guess my only question is how much is OSU paying him just to come down and tell them everything he knows about Michigan's playbook? Because he ain't coming down to start anywhere on that roster. Or even be a true depth piece anywhere.
Day is pushing all his chips to the middle of the table for this season. Its truly national title or bust, so given that Velazquez never saw the field when he was here, I imagine his only use to a program like OSU's is "Tell me everything you know about Michigan's playbook."
February 12th, 2024 at 4:13 PM ^
Meh... he's from Columbus. He was originally going to OSU. I thought he might end up at Iowa with Erick and Cade, but when All declared, I assumed he'd end up at a MAC school in Ohio. Surprised he'd choose to walk on there, with no baseball. But it's his decision.
February 12th, 2024 at 10:59 AM ^
What ever happened to OSU PI hiring and Catapult investigation? Do we have Mickey Mouse looking into this?
February 12th, 2024 at 10:59 AM ^
After losing 3 straight to Michigan, maxton auto group and digeranimo escavating and the like are pumping millions into their NIL efforts.... they're buying players like no one's business. they want Joey to be their Stalions, but Wink will change the signs, so it'll just be more money poured down the drain......
February 12th, 2024 at 11:02 AM ^
Huge loss. I don’t know who we’re gonna get to keep his spot on the bench warm. If he’s good enough to play at OSU then it’s worse than I thought over there. Special Teams asset I guess. In all seriousness, I hope he finds what he’s looking for.
February 12th, 2024 at 11:12 AM ^
I get he's from Columbus but I mean why not go somewhere you can get on the field instead of a walk-on?
I think you answered your own question. He’s a walk on. Wouldn’t he be paying out of state tuition at M? Maybe he still loves to compete but doesn’t want to owe a fuck-ton (or is it fuckton?) of money when he’s done?
Although he likely already is in pretty deep…
