At What Point Does Warde’s Brand Taint Santa’s?
Need a distraction for an unpleasantly not slow news day. And FYI, this is not meant to be a Warde bashing post…
How long before Warde’s increasingly toxic brand begin to spoil the Wolverine sports fan good will for Santa Ono? And what would it take to get there?

Heh heh. He said "taint."

I still recall first learning about that word in the Modern Languages Building. IYKYK

oh man, did you know Joe too?

I mean the truth lies somewhere in between.
My opinion is somewhere in the middle but I feel this is an unexplored area.

Santa’s Taint smells like a 36 hour day and reindeer sadness

Taint Santas would be a pretty good band name.

Given Warde's tendency toward neglect, I don't want to think about his taint.

Just learned last year that it’s also referred to as the “Gooch.”

Not meant to be a Warde bashing post
Immediately begins bashing Warde in next sentence

The great thing about being negative is that a person can always be at least almost right:
1. The worst happens. The predictor can say he saw it coming.
2. Some bad things happen. Nothing's perfect, so point to all the bad things making you virtually correct.
3. Good happens? Even here, the doomsayer can take credit for identifying a bad thing, which alerted others to avoid it.

Warde has started to destroy the Michigan brand not just the Presidents.

I am truly amazed in this day and age, when we are all supposedly much more intelligent and enlightened, that some still go with the, "I don't mean to be rude/crass/petty/etc., but here I am being rude/crass/petty/etc." Astounding
I'd love to hear what you thought would come of a post that is a simple variation on about 30 others that have been brought to the board over the past couple of weeks.
/regret the click

I agree with you 100%, but I wanted to let you know that I upvoted you based on your username and avatar alone. Well done. If I could, I would upvote you twice.

I love Ono's passion for M athletics, and that's a clear differentiator between him and Schliss. But, he's not an athletic director. He has other things to worry about. He already handled the sign stealing with aplomb and recognizes the importance of football to the university.
So....it would take a lot more than I'd care to day-nightmare about

" ... this is not meant to be a Warde bashing post…How long before Warde’s increasingly toxic brand."
Could have fooled me.

The ol’ bait n switch. Classic

There’s got to be a reason he’s still there…I don’t think he makes it past next year though.

t'aint none of your business.

Rock 'n Roll taint noise pollution.

And to go way, way back:
'Taint What You Do (It's the Way That You Do It).

Definitely partial to the Fun Boy Three (band name kinda checks out) version.
February 1st, 2024 at 6:12 PM ^
Agreed. Was kind of thinking the same thing, at the end of the day, sports to me are really just entertaintment.
February 1st, 2024 at 9:12 PM ^
You haven't seen the numbers then...and for college football, it's a big one.
February 1st, 2024 at 5:07 PM ^
not sure it will fall on Ono but from a pure fireworks standpoint if the spring portal season goes sideways and any of a few key players depart its gonna be bad times.
February 1st, 2024 at 5:10 PM ^
Frankly, I don't give a shit about the Wolverine Sports Fan's perspective of Santa Ono.
What matters to me is the Wolverine Sports Donor's perspective of Santa Ono, and I would imagine that Santa's role as an administrator and fundraiser means that the athletic department suddenly foundering on the NIL front would be of major concern to him.
And I'll note that Warde's brand is not toxic; his brand is one of inaction. He's no Dave Brandon in that he's a slimeball - he just doesn't seem to hit the home runs he needs to.
February 1st, 2024 at 5:16 PM ^
Homeruns? At this point I'd be ecstatic if he just swung the bat.
February 1st, 2024 at 5:37 PM ^
Passivity, defensiveness, neglect… these things can be toxic
February 1st, 2024 at 6:38 PM ^
Warde isn’t even playing sports. If they’re playing baseball Warde is eating crayons in the dugout and they can’t even get him to play.
February 1st, 2024 at 5:11 PM ^
Speaking of taints, enough Warde threads.
February 1st, 2024 at 5:12 PM ^
Personally, I don’t think anyone should brand their taint.
February 1st, 2024 at 5:14 PM ^
And FYI, this is not meant to be a Warde bashing post…
no offense, but….
February 1st, 2024 at 5:17 PM ^
Oh, look, another thread about Warde!
February 1st, 2024 at 6:44 PM ^
Oh look someone else who enjoys being average and inept!
February 1st, 2024 at 10:51 PM ^
National Championship = "Inept"
February 1st, 2024 at 5:16 PM ^
Can we just create a snowflakes thread where people who want to blame everything bad on Warde just have a place to themselves?
We've gotten to the point where threads start with "not to bash Warde" and then the next sentence is ransom shit bashing Warde. Might as well keep it contained.
February 1st, 2024 at 5:33 PM ^
You want to combine all of MGOBOARD onto one thread?
February 1st, 2024 at 6:33 PM ^
There was a post in a few threads down where someone asked why can't we talk about championship season and the concerns about the program. LoL. All I see is concern after concern in every thread as if we are being coached by RichRod

February 1st, 2024 at 7:28 PM ^
amazingly, i remember watching this.
it was a season cliffhanger!
February 1st, 2024 at 8:34 PM ^
Me too. But even at 14 I knew that Milwaukee did not have sandy cliff beaches like that. They really gave up by the time the show reached that point.

I thought the premise was that the family and the whole gang went to Cali on vacation or something. Like the Bradys going to Hawaii.
