Potential Harbaugh NFL Staff
https://www.nfl.com/news/dolphins-dc-vic-fangio-mutually-agree-to-part-ways-after-one-season
With Jim in the NFL w/Chargers, speculation is will he take UM staff with him. Earlier today, longtime Harbaugh coach and former DC w/49ers Vic Fangio left the Miami Dolphins, maybe Harbaugh bring him on as DC allowing Michigan to retain Minter, as it is rumored him and Moore have been on the recruiting trail. Nothing is said on the subject, just something to keep in mind as it's been almost a decade since Harbaugh was last coaching in the league, there is a good chance he will want some new faces and some familiar ones to help him readjust and recreate the dominance he had in the Bay. Either way, Moore and Herbert seem like locks to stay, Minter is up in the air.

Osu fans must be excited - and I don’t blame them. But, a 3-5 head-to-head coach is being replaced by a 1-0 coach. Sherrone Moore is the anti Ryan day. He was born on 2nd base, but he consistently makes it to home plate.

I remember the eight games prior to 2021 that we played Ohio State and think it is still too early to be this bold in our trash talking.

No - this is MGoBlog. We are national champions. We don’t need to soften our internet barbs against our repeatedly vanquished rival - who happens to have been born on third base.

Moore started on third and got us home. That's more factual. Day started on third and brought program back to second.

Who named you the base umpire??

bought*

If Moore is 1- 0, then wouldn't Harbaugh be 2-5? Michigan beat OSU 3 times during the Harbaugh years....but you gave them 4 wins.
January 24th, 2024 at 9:52 PM ^
They both got that win - to the victors go the spoils
osu is always playing catch up.

Moore is 3-0, not 1-0, against the Buckeyes. That’s even better.

I think Brian Hartline would make a great wide receivers coach for the Chargers.

Minter staying would calm a lot of us down. Minter and Ben Herbert are major contributors to the current Michigan football culture and keeping them both is imperative.

Fangio is expected to land in Philly
January 24th, 2024 at 9:48 PM ^
That was all prior to Harbaugh being signed by LA. Things may change, especially knowing if Fangio goes to LA he has a longer leash than Philly, who almost fired their coach for winning 11 games after losing a close Super Bowl. Familiarity and low pressure (along with nicer living area) may be just enough to entice Fangio.

Schefter saying "a deal is expected" might as well mean "a deal is done". Also, he's specifically going to Philly to be near his family in Pennsylvania ...

Dude, that’s my avatar…

I don't see him hiring Vic over Minter imo.
January 24th, 2024 at 9:40 PM ^
I heard Fangio was likely going to the Eagles.

I'd be surprised if Minter is the DC next year. Very, very surprised. If Jim doesn't try to bring him, Michigan has to lock him up ASAP or a dozen NFL teams will be calling him soon. The NFL carousel still has a lot of turns left at HC and Coordinator spots.
I think it was just said that Jay and Herbert are expected to go with Jim. I'd love to retain Herbert.
January 24th, 2024 at 9:45 PM ^
Hate to say it but if we lose Herbert it'll be a massive blow. Hopefully he had an underling that can take over. Gotta keep it rolling...

That's the thinking!
January 24th, 2024 at 10:02 PM ^
Agree totally. The more likely retention, IMO, and massive.
We will see but I figured Minter gone no matter what as soon as we raised that trophy.

Herbert signed a 5 year, multi million dollar deal last offseason making him one of the wealthiest S&C coaches in the country, and if the retain Moore I'd imagine he stays in AA. I am not sure if NFL and CFB S&C practices and expectations transfer over well, and if NFL guys want to deal with the intensity and regimen Herbert demands and teaches. Plus if I'm Herbert, I don't recruit guys, I just mold them, and get to run it without someone looking over my shoulder or objecting.
January 24th, 2024 at 10:03 PM ^
NFL S&C guys make half of what Herbert makes here. UM could easily boost that too if need be.
I suspect Harbaugh will take as few as guys as he possibly can in order to help Moore.
January 24th, 2024 at 10:04 PM ^
None of that is wrong or not true but if Jim wants him Ben will follow. Jim may be closer to Ben than anyone at Michigan and Jim doesn't really care about what people think will or won't work.
We'll see and I certainly hope he stays.
January 24th, 2024 at 11:12 PM ^
Depends what Herbert values and what his career goals are. He'll be rich either way. If he values relationships with players, the NFL is nothing like college. The star players have their own personal wellness teams, train elsewhere in the offseason, and so forth. No relationship is closer than a college football player and a S&C team. They're together daily for years.
January 25th, 2024 at 8:32 AM ^
Yeah. I don’t see a bunch of millionaires being into meeting at the bottom of a mountain at 4:30 to run sprints. Herberts talent would surely be wasted in the nfl.
January 24th, 2024 at 9:52 PM ^
Minter is going to go with Jim. But hopefully we now have doubled our NFL pipeline for coaches if we need to fill some spots here in the future.
Thank you Jim for all that you’ve done here. Pulling the CFP National Title trophy out of SEC territory is no small feat, let alone bringing the trophy up north. Go chase your dream in the NFL.

Greg Roman, Tim Drevno, Lance Anderson, David Shaw, Pep Hamilton, and Jay Harbaugh.
January 25th, 2024 at 8:34 AM ^
I am hearing Roman may be on staff. He was one of the most despised playcallers in the league his last season under Jim.
January 25th, 2024 at 9:12 PM ^
He was one of the most despised playcallers when he was with Jim's brother as well.
He runs a Tecmo Bowl level playbook and doesn't make adjustments.

I wouldn't be surprised if Harbaugh finds a place for Partridge on his staff with the Chargers
