BOB ain't gonna take that job unless he gets to call plays. I can see them both yelling at each other over who gets to call plays in some key moments..

They are both strong personalities who want it their way.

Obrien is nfl old school run the football. This may help them play to their strenghs of rb and more time of possession nfl style game that lets defense win games - wrs gonna get shorted but they got okorn QBs over there so its smart move.

but they aint running against Michigans bully af DL - no chance.

Let's add some DL from the portal. Our starting DL is terrific, just need some depth. LB should be ok and secondary will be lights out. They probably can't throw on us with Howard.

(a) this does not scream Buckeye Culture

(b) sideline fades comin'

This may be Ryan Day and their program in crisis mode, but when you pay attention to something like your life depends on it, things tend to go well.  I'm expecting Ohio State to look an be very good next year.  Who knows if the o line will come together or if they can get that tiny QB to November, but you have to say they are the team to beat until they're not.

Seriously, Ryan Day is going to put someone else in charge of his offense? He couldn't do that last  season when he had supposedly the best wideouts in the country. Also, Jalen Milroe didn't exactly give O'Brien a sterling reference during Rose Bowl preparation.

And I never heard any coach on the Alabama staff try to temper Milroe's complaint about O'Brien which seemed tinged as more than qb coach criticism of Milroe's quarterbacking skills. Ryan has to win one game next year and is loading up his roster and staff to meet the Michigan challenge.

To me the open question is how do the pieces fit together.  Day is making a lot of changes, but are they components of a cohesive plan that will compliment each other, or is it almost randomly hoping everything meshes.  They landed a QB who is not in the Ryan Day mode.  OSU insiders think he'll look much better because he'll be throwing to better receivers.  What is O'Brien's offensive philosophy?  Will they run his, Day's or some kind of blend?  They added a good RB, mostly for depth and a change of pace, I guess.  Their biggest issue is OL, and they added a center who Alabama couldn't coach up to snap the ball.  Maybe they'll move him to guard, but what happens with Hinzman who got benched for telling the truth?  All is forgiven there on both sides?  It feels like Day is panicking.  All change is not good change.  He has repeated the line often enough about the team that wins the rushing battle wins The Game that I think he believes that.  Unfortunately, he's a passing game guru.  If he tries to change his identity, that risks detracting from what he is really best at and pushing him into an area in which he has no competitive advantage.

He has been a 100% failure since his PSU days.  Look at the resume, cannot stay at one job for more that 1 or 2 years.

Texans HC and ruined the franchise as HC and GM out in 2020

Bama OC 2 years, they won despite his play calling

Back to Patriots for last year and look at that offense and how Mac Jones regressed. This is a good thing for Michigan, that offense is going to fall apart.
