Washington transfer QB Will Rogers re-enters portal - target for us if JJ goes?
Just committed to Washington from Mississippi St on December 15. SEC all time leader in attempts and completions. Grad transfer.
Facing a shorter list of available landing spots than before.
I'm praying #9 gives us one more year but if not, could Rogers be a 1-year rental for us?

Possibly. I’ll check with Counterstrike guy and report back
January 12th, 2024 at 9:46 PM ^
I think JJ is coming back.
But if not I like the Idea of Will Roger's > Bama. Milroe to U of M.
Milroe, Orji, Mullings, and Hall just batter the opposition to death.
January 12th, 2024 at 9:49 PM ^
Agree on JJ, but I sorta love this idea.
But undergrad transfers are what always seem to get caught up in admissions office/credit transfer hell, may be hard for milroe to jump to UM
January 12th, 2024 at 10:20 PM ^
Maybe Milroe (I think there would <1% he’d transfer; and less than that to here) is someone who is mostly banking in an NFL career and would do what Shea did and just basically forgo any credits that won’t transfer over.
January 12th, 2024 at 10:29 PM ^
Shea IIRC had to work like crazy in the summer to recover enough credits to have academic progress towards a degree, but I also want to say during the Rose Bowl they said Milroe does have his degree already...
January 12th, 2024 at 11:30 PM ^
Although Milroe has been at Alabama for three years, it seems to be common misconception that he is much younger. He also enrolled early, so it's very possible that he has a degree and could grad transfer already.
He's not. But he (very possibly) could.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:58 PM ^
Shoot I was under the assumption he was in his second year. If he’s a RS So and early enrollee he very well could have his degree no later than the end of the spring semester
January 13th, 2024 at 8:26 AM ^
IIRC his SEC patch had “graduate” on it.
January 13th, 2024 at 7:37 PM ^
I believe Milroe was in the same class as JJ.
January 13th, 2024 at 12:18 PM ^
Wait, have you heard about Alabama's engineering program tho??
January 13th, 2024 at 2:35 PM ^
Only if Harbaugh returns, IMHO.
January 12th, 2024 at 9:47 PM ^
Personally I am ready to see our younger QBs but I keep hearing others say we might need to portal someone next year
January 12th, 2024 at 9:55 PM ^
Poor Washington. You have to feel bad for them at this point.
January 13th, 2024 at 2:26 AM ^
Total gut punch to them.
Poor damn Washington.
January 13th, 2024 at 9:59 AM ^
Their roster has been gutted...
January 12th, 2024 at 9:55 PM ^
I don't want him. He struggled at Miss State when they moved to a more traditional offense. I don't see him as a major upgrade over our non-JJ options.
January 12th, 2024 at 10:02 PM ^
Hard no for me too. He was awful at Miss St.
1600yds 59% and 12tds/4ints.
If we have to settle for this coming off of the Natty, I'd rather roll with our current guys in the group.
January 13th, 2024 at 4:16 AM ^
Rogers racked up a lot of his passing stats under Mike Leach & an Air Raid offense. He transferred to Washington thinking that he would succeed Penix. He's looking for a team that throws the ball a lot. If Ryan Grubb, Kalen DeBoer's OC, is named HC at UW, Rogers will recommit to there. If Grubb joins DeBoer at Bama, Rogers will go there.
January 12th, 2024 at 10:03 PM ^
This makes me wonder if that Parker kid wants to come home. He could add a nice piece to the rotation after losing Jenkins and Goode.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:01 PM ^
Isn't there 2 Parker kids?
January 12th, 2024 at 10:27 PM ^
Rogers is an air raid QB through and through, not really sure how he’ll fit in a true pro style passing attack
January 12th, 2024 at 10:40 PM ^
I wanna see Orji at QB1 if JJ leaves.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:32 PM ^
Orgi has ran 15 plays in 2 years playing QB at Michigan and I guess he's completed 1 pass.
Orgi at a min got us prepared for Milroe.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:21 PM ^
The faith people have in Orgi is odd. He has thrown only one pass all year. He did nothing to show that he is anything more than a gadget player currently.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:27 PM ^
I like gadget plays.
And I hope Orji is devoting a lot of time and effort to his passing skills and his ability to read defenses. Hopefully, that process is already well along.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:28 PM ^
Found Moore’s MGoBoard account.
January 13th, 2024 at 4:17 AM ^
A lot off JJ's plays in his freshman year were gadget plays.
January 13th, 2024 at 10:03 AM ^
But he also had a green light to throw the ball. Do you not remember the NFL throw to Wilson in 2021, 20-some yds down the sideline between three defenders while rolling out against anOSU?

Gonna bet they saw the YouTube video hyping his athletic ability and think he’s the next Milroe.
January 13th, 2024 at 12:01 AM ^
I mean his OMG shirtless 360 throw through the upright was mighty impressive…
If any QB currently on the roster to would be our starting QB next year (if JJ leaves) it will be Denegal.
January 13th, 2024 at 12:15 AM ^
RGIII made him a fan favorite.
January 13th, 2024 at 2:45 AM ^
I have faith in Orji. I want to see him complete a pass. I don't care if it's 5 yards. Then I want to see him truck-stick someone. If you have some kind of history to espouse, espouse it then. With impuunity!
January 13th, 2024 at 9:38 AM ^
Yeah, I'd be happy to see Orji used more as a change-up QB (and hopefully given more freedom to pass) but I would absolutely not feel comfortable with him as a starter.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:29 PM ^
Bizarre that his name keeps coming up. He's back in the transfer portal specifically because he needs an air raid system.
January 13th, 2024 at 1:01 AM ^
Won't he end up at Alabama if DeBoer liked him that much? No way Milroe can handle DeBoer's offense.
January 13th, 2024 at 2:15 PM ^
I mean they have the #1 QB recruit in the nation coming in. I bet that kid can handle DeBoer's offense
January 13th, 2024 at 2:41 AM ^
If JJ goes... then we all go
January 13th, 2024 at 7:02 AM ^
Hot take after watching tape of Denegal, he's the starter next year and probably is better than any lower tier transfer.
He's got good size and can probably at least play up to Cade's level and he's more mobile than Cade. Probably good enough as a bridge QB to let Davis learn and prepare.
January 13th, 2024 at 7:03 AM ^
This transfer portal free agency is so out of control. Even the NFL has rules on this. You can’t move after you just signed that is ridiculous.
meanwhile in East Lansing, Johnathan Smith is expressing regret of taking the MSU job with the Washington job open
January 13th, 2024 at 7:12 AM ^
This is why you don't jump at the first job open on the market.
January 13th, 2024 at 11:25 AM ^

If coaches are allowed to break contracts, why shouldn't the players also be allowed? Rogers signed to player under Deboer; Deboer left.
January 13th, 2024 at 1:29 PM ^
Exactly this. DeBoer got a new job less than a week. There should not be any outcry when players transfer. They transfer for the coach, not the school unlike some mouthbreathing fans insisting they should commit to the school, not the coach. Not how the recruiting works.
January 13th, 2024 at 7:25 AM ^
I hope not. His numbers flourished in Leach's system but he wasn't nearly as proficient out of it. I'd rather see Orji be given the opportunity, he's such an athlete.
January 13th, 2024 at 8:52 AM ^
I just can’t help but want this guy to come to Michigan, just so I can root for him and call him the Cherokee Kid… you know, like the other Will Rogers? Okay, nvm, it’s just me.
January 13th, 2024 at 1:28 PM ^
We Have our next Antonio bass ! We good
January 13th, 2024 at 1:34 PM ^
Sure, but I'm not giving up hope on JJ.
Will Rogers vs Will Howard. To the death.
