OSU makes social media post about Cotton Bowl in the “desert”
SIAP, didn’t see it but that Ohio state education showing through. Their football players didn’t go there to play school because their school didn’t come there to play school.

Well at least give them credit for not including an image of Hitler.

Ohio St players sitting down for dinner in Arlington, TX
December 26th, 2023 at 6:09 AM ^
Guess they didn't check to see that the "Arlington desert" gets on average about 40 inches of rain a year. The DFW area, where Arlington is located, gets lots of rains and has some very large lakes.
December 26th, 2023 at 11:37 AM ^
It's climate is classified as Humid Subtropical.

3 years of getting their heads stove in by Michigan has broken their GPS, among other things. What do you expect from a state school with an 80-85% acceptance rate. It’s Sparty, with different colors.
December 26th, 2023 at 4:36 AM ^
Actually OSU is a lot harder to get into than it used to be, acceptance rate is around 55%. Still way above Michigan at around 22%.
December 26th, 2023 at 9:45 AM ^
Michigan acceptance rate is now 17-18%, steadily declining as the University attracts more and more out-of-state/international applicants.
December 26th, 2023 at 12:53 PM ^
came up with this:
Ohio State University / Acceptance rate
68%
As of 2020
entrance exam: can you fog a mirror? spell the word oh-io. congrats, you're a buckeye!
December 25th, 2023 at 11:15 PM ^
Even the social media person opted out of this game
December 26th, 2023 at 10:08 AM ^
....and didn't play school.
December 25th, 2023 at 11:17 PM ^
They don't play school at osu...
Go Blue!
Beat Bama!
December 25th, 2023 at 11:20 PM ^
Might as well be in the desert, only 3 CFB games matter this season and none of them involve OSU.
December 25th, 2023 at 11:22 PM ^
I am very surprised that so far, it looks like Harrison Jr, Egbuka, Stover, Henderson, and Burke all are going to play in this game.
December 25th, 2023 at 11:45 PM ^
Yeah that’s weird. If mjh comes back I will be mad
December 26th, 2023 at 1:04 AM ^
He's a surefire top 5. Every passing year that delays him to that second meaningful contract is a huge loss for him. Marv Sr. knows that. He'd be a fool to come back.
December 26th, 2023 at 1:09 PM ^
Jake Butt's ACL has entered the chat.
December 26th, 2023 at 10:56 AM ^
Especially weird since QB is a question mark for them at this point.
December 26th, 2023 at 1:03 PM ^
He’d be a fucking idiot to come back. He has nothing to prove, he’s guaranteed to be the first non - QB off the board this coming draft, and his ceiling can’t possibly go any higher.
He has nothing to gain and everything to lose by coming back.
December 26th, 2023 at 8:22 AM ^
I don't understand why guys announce so early when they are going to opt out. I would never expect MHJ to play this game. But if I were him, I'd let Mizzou set a bunch of time on fire prepping for me.
December 25th, 2023 at 11:26 PM ^
Yeah, that's dumb but so are the replies dunking on it with pictures of the city. Dallas is not the desert because it gets more than 10 inches of rain per year, not because there are buildings and man-planted trees.
December 26th, 2023 at 12:04 AM ^
Lived in Texas for a while. Driving IH-20 west from Texarkana, you can see the lush Southeast give way fairly quickly to the still-watered but noticably drier North Texas plains in which Dallas is situated. Then, barely out of Forth Worth on the way to Abilene, starts to all get dry and Western, very fast. By the US-84 split off IH-20 to Lubbock you're in the real stuff. Underrated drive. But Dallas is not the desert.
Living in Austin back then, I would drive up to SW Colorado (Pagosa, Durango) and the only way to do that efficiently was daisy-chaining (a very few) Interstates, (mostly) US Highways, and (some) state roads all the way up there diagonally NW. Really good times, saw a lot of our country that way.

Back in the 80s I drove from New Orleans to San Diego; entering Beaumont on I-10 (right before getting caught by a speed trap) I despaired to see the sign “El Paso 897 Miles”. But yeah, there was a lot of spectacular desert as you headed west.
December 26th, 2023 at 10:57 AM ^
The fun doesn't really start on westbound I-10 until you get past Ft. Stockton. where the Chihuahuan Desert (a real desert) flattens out into western Texas and the winds start. No fun driving an RV from there to El Paso.
December 26th, 2023 at 10:24 PM ^
Technically, the Cotton Belt stretches into places most think of as Desert (NM, AZ), but.... yeah, no. Not Dallas.
December 26th, 2023 at 2:58 AM ^
We head out from Houston to Bryan to Waco. Then Forth Worth and straight to Amarillo for any Colorado destinations. Change is landscape is jarring. But we are used to it by now.
December 26th, 2023 at 9:14 AM ^
Did you get to Amarillo by morning?
I've driven from Denver to Houston myself. I only recall that one town with the stop sign, and the others very much like it. I must have taken the less scenic route.
December 26th, 2023 at 10:52 AM ^
We are in Amarillo by evening, if heading North; close to midnight when heading South. So far we have treated it as a stop along the way. It can be a hub for the local state parks.
December 26th, 2023 at 10:52 AM ^
Southern Colorado is underrated for beautiful and fun driving roads. CO 160 in either direction out of Pagosa Springs, 550 north out of Durango (the Million Dollar Highway are just two examples. The state highways, like CO 149 from South Fork up to Lake City, are a ton of fun on a motorcycle.
December 26th, 2023 at 11:55 AM ^
That part is still unexplored for us. Hopefully, soon.
December 25th, 2023 at 11:50 PM ^
I'm less interested in OSU football's twitter account's knowledge of north central Texas geography, and more interested in whether they ever found out what happened in the last 8 minutes of their game on November 24th. They were tweeting every first down and touchdown, Marvin Harrison had a highlight, and then... nothing. Weird.
December 25th, 2023 at 11:57 PM ^
Keep going down IH-20 until you hit IH-10 and you'll be there. One of my favorite parts of the country.
December 26th, 2023 at 3:00 AM ^
Just have the gas tank full.
December 26th, 2023 at 12:06 AM ^
It's easy to get confused with all those cottontail jackalopes running around out there.
December 26th, 2023 at 12:28 AM ^
Love me a good ohio state faux pas
December 26th, 2023 at 2:13 AM ^
Or faux pass - like the won Rod Moore caught to end the game.
December 26th, 2023 at 2:14 AM ^
Oops, I mean the ONE Rod Moore caught... Freudian slip, i guess ;)
December 26th, 2023 at 6:49 AM ^
Meanwhile, Gene Smith is out in Glendale wondering where the hell everyone has gone off to.....
December 26th, 2023 at 9:54 AM ^
He'll have a word with the ushers.
December 26th, 2023 at 8:24 AM ^
send those idiots to el paso
December 26th, 2023 at 8:48 AM ^
Either way, it is a game for soft teams

cotton soft.

Ohio State Butteyes:
Where 5-star Me players go to play!
Funny how Ryan Day has yet to figure out that a running mobile QB was always Michigan's kryptonite! He still thinks it the crossing patterns.
I hope he is just like Don Brown and is too stubborn to adapt.
December 26th, 2023 at 11:49 AM ^
Very surprised he hasn’t been fired yet. Waiting until the bowl loss to Mizzou with the block M helmet I guess
December 26th, 2023 at 10:22 AM ^
I heard this comment was posted AFTER the “US Geography” class final. In fact, this question was actually on the final exam.
I can understand how some could have gotten the answer incorrect - it was a graduate level course.
December 26th, 2023 at 12:13 PM ^
No wonder their starting QB transferred to school with a 6-7 football team..... with academic standards.
December 26th, 2023 at 3:47 PM ^
the parking lot around the stadium is rather large...
December 26th, 2023 at 7:14 PM ^
Maybe they meant cultural desert? Not saying, just saying
I mean, the pic showing empty parking lots as far as the eye can see looks like a desert in a few respects…
December 26th, 2023 at 9:07 PM ^
They weren't talking about the physical location of the game. They were talking about the metaphorical location their football program is currently lost in, roaming like a tribe in a famous book. Except in this version they never come out of it.
December 27th, 2023 at 6:07 PM ^
That Ohio education....
