It never looked like McCord and Third Base had a good relationship.  Between that and just in general the Buckeyes did not seem to be having a lot of fun this season out there, perhaps its a cultural problem.  I mean, look at CJ Stroud... he went from looking fairly dour at tOSU to being mostly likely ROY in the NFL and showing a lot of joy in doing so.

I hope for the best for Mr McCord.

Cuse will have a lot of energy with Brown in 1st year, could finish 2nd in the ACC next year, make the playoff, and then McCord has legend status for decades.  Not a bad deal.

Sure beats having OSU fans rip him publicly for 12 months and very little chance next year to win a championship if MJH leaves.

Is there be a better landing spot than Cuse?

There is exactly and precisely 0 chance that OSU does not have a solid QB ready to go next year, who is playing great football come end of year. I wouldn't get too excited. Remember, Braxton Miller, who nearly nearly Michigan as a true freshman, got hurt, and that paved the way for JT Barrett to have a record breaking career.

LOL!!  Buckeye fans were salty that Michigan fans were loving him, and so they turned on him.  When he lost, they blew up - while we started giving him a lot of credit.  Now those OSU fans have to wonder what the hell just happened!  We’re in their fucking heads so deep, and rent free!!

He should do very well there. Not sure about Syracuse’s skill position, but new HC Fran Brown seems to have generated some excitement early on.

I hope he does well. He received a lot of grief for failing to do what CJ Stroud also could not do.

While I feel for McCord, this is delicious from a Michigan perspective.  The guy had an excellent year but gets run out of town for losing to Michigan.  We're breaking them.

Thought Nebraska had that in the bag.

Now imagine if they lose out on Raiola too, after a week or so of feeling like their hopes could finally go through the roof. Well, on second thought, if that all happens then I guess that’s just what it’s like to be a Nebraska fan.

Not going to lie, I had to look up who Syracuse hired to be their head coach (since I knew that the Dino Babers era finally reached its inevitable end).  I can't say I know the first thing about Fran Brown.

Given everything else about Syracuse I have to assume McCord is receiving a nice lil' bag and I extend my congratulations to him for whatever he's getting.  Good luck, young man, and enjoy the upstate NY winters.

As someone who has lived near there, i can say the winters there aren’t much different than winters in Michigan or New Wisconsin or New Hampshire. it’s really not appreciably different, especially now that climate change is making the country less snowy. The area is nice for most of the year.

i’d much rather live there than in the fetid swamp that is the Deep South. Or in the ugly hellhole called Ohio.

As a native Syracusan with a degree from S.U. this is great news. As a Michigan grad it brings double delight. Good work by Fran Brown, who is roping in transfers and recruits from across the NJ area. Also good news for Michigan as recruiting in NJ just got a little tougher for Rutgers.

And the paper in Columbus doing a semi hit piece on him saying it was about money and not wanting to compete as if why would anyone not want to play for ohio.  Even the media is entitled out there and schill for that program.

This is part of what makes Ohio different than Michigan. The media down there is part of the cult. The entire state is indoctrinated. Kids at public schools across the state learn the nut head fight song from the schools. Fans at Cleveland Cavaliers games ritualistically boo a maize block M that’s presented to them with no relevance at all to the game actually happening. People in Ohio brag that their OSU degree can get them a job anywhere in Ohio- that’s their loftiest ambition. It’s a sad, sorry place.

That kind of insular jingoism has its advantages, but once the deluge gets going, they’ll all turn on each other. Delusion is a helluva drug, and the hangover hits hard

Seems like McCord could have done better than Syracuse.  The pro for him is that they have a respectable but weak schedule.  Had he gone to Nebraska he would have had some tough games/losses.   At Syracuse he could get them into the playoffs and be a hero.

You should take a look at West Virginia's schedule for this season (2023), it is an absolute dumpster fire of a schedule and the only reason that they had a "good" season (8-4 regular season record) which saved their embattled head coach's job.

Their schedule included:

  • Duquesne
  • Pitt
  • Texas Tech
  • TCU
  • Houston
  • UCF
  • BYU
  • Cincinnati
  • Baylor

That is one FCS team, a god-awful ACC team, three mediocre to bad Big 12 teams and the four newly promoted teams who were group of 5 teams last season and still have group of 5 caliber talent on their rosters so those were like four extra non-conference games.

Only two of those teams listed made it to bowl games (UCF and Texas Tech) and they both finished the regular season 6-6.

They played three good opponents (Penn St., Oklahoma and Okie State) and got pounded into a fine powder by two of them.

I remain confused when I read through threads about how down OSU is. They were a missed field goal from a national title. They fixed their abysmal defense and were driving to try and win against a 12-0 Michigan team on the road. If that’s falling fast, sign me up!

I will continue to argue that it’s more exciting as a Michigan fan to appreciate how incredible it is that Michigan has beaten some great OSU teams as opposed to arguing that Ryan Day’s beard means he’s soft.

Seems like a good move for both parties. If I recall correctly, the Further Review of our defense in the Game pointed out that McCord played a solid game leading a pretty sophisticated passing offense. Yeah, the interceptions. You know who else threw untimely pick-6s in games (some of which Michigan won, some lost)? Wilton Speight (twice), Cade McNamara, and JJ McCarthy.
