Slight OT - Dillon Gabriel to Oregon
Dillon Gabriel has committed to Oregon, as the first of the tranfer QB dominos falls. Dante Moore, our rumored target, was rumored to be scheduled to visit them next week, and I imagine that isn't the case anymore. Will be interesting to see where the big names end up, and hopefully we get one.

I dunno, Moore is reportedly OK with sitting a year (as he should be). So they could get both because I think Gabriel only has one year of eligibility remaining.
December 9th, 2023 at 3:31 PM ^
Or he could sit behind JJ if he comes back

Not OT, comrade OP, as this involves a future opponent. Thanks for posting!
December 9th, 2023 at 11:40 AM ^
Not good enough for Oklahoma but good enough for the Ducks. Okay then.
December 9th, 2023 at 11:49 AM ^
OU didn’t kick him out or not want him lol. HE broke up with THEM
December 9th, 2023 at 11:52 AM ^
It’s not YOU, it‘s ME. I’ve heard that more than once. Also, “Paul is a really good dancer..”
December 9th, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
He has a great personality.
But I think I’m this case Gabriel actually is a good dancer w a great personality. Lol.
December 9th, 2023 at 11:52 AM ^
Everything I saw and heard said OU wanted him to leave so they could make Jackson Arnold the starter.
December 9th, 2023 at 12:56 PM ^
I think it was a mutual parting of ways

(This really is the only gif out there of this I could find. A two part gif!)
December 9th, 2023 at 11:54 AM ^
Right lol, no tampering here at all.
December 9th, 2023 at 11:40 AM ^
I'll be cheering hard for the kid Oct 12th, I hope he locks up his seat in New York with 12 TDs..
December 9th, 2023 at 12:17 PM ^
Nice! I didn't even have to look at the schedule to know what you were talking about.
December 9th, 2023 at 11:42 AM ^
Neither are done deals, but it certainly makes it more likely we get Moore and OSU gets Cam Ward.
December 9th, 2023 at 11:45 AM ^
Is being said on X that Ward is down to 4 teams. FSU, Miami, Auburn and USC.
December 9th, 2023 at 11:52 AM ^
Heard it was FSU, Mami and Washington
December 9th, 2023 at 11:59 AM ^
Happy to be wrong about that!
December 9th, 2023 at 12:07 PM ^
Each passing year I'm more and more amazed that
- The money is so good in Miami that recruits continue to go there to go 7-5 and play in front of 5,000 people
and
- Miami boosters keep paying so much money for recruits every year just to get 7-5 results all the time
Miami football just feels like a money laundering front for Colombian cocaine trafficking or something

Miami football just feels like a money laundering front for Colombian cocaine trafficking or something
Let's be honest...would it really be that surprising if this were true?
December 9th, 2023 at 9:13 PM ^
Granted I live in central Florida but it's currently 70 out and tomorrow it will be in the 80's. Having lived in Michigan 30+ years I would never under any circumstance be willing to move back there. Not that weather is that important to everyone but to me it is...might be to others too.
December 9th, 2023 at 11:46 AM ^
USC is real competition for Cam Ward. They run an air raid, can financially compete with OSU, and are located in a more desirable location. It will be very interesting to see where he lands.
December 9th, 2023 at 12:01 PM ^
Plus say what you want about Lincoln Riley, but Wikipedia tells me he was the coach for 3 Heisman QBs, soon to be 3 #1 overall picks, and Jalen Hurts.
December 9th, 2023 at 12:10 PM ^
Which brings up the larger issue: Is USC greater competition with us, or with OSU? For a variety of reasons, starting with a certain level of sleaze, I'd like to think it's OSU. Beyond that, how do you think the other new entrants stack up with us as competition? My (maybe naive) supposition is that because of style of play, rep, scholastic credentials, it's Washington we'll vie with the most players for, and that Oregon. . . I have no idea. How do others see this?
December 9th, 2023 at 12:46 PM ^
I don't think recruiting will change a whole lot because of the regional differences. But yeah passing oriented guys would have to be the OSU/Oregon/USC group and rushing guys the M/PSU/Wash/UCLA group.
I would think some of the interesting on-field matchups would be Iowa/PSU vs. Washington/USC. Great defenses against great offenses that maybe don't have quite the talent gap that OSU does. Sorta like those MSU/Oregon games back when both were equally good in very contrasting ways.
December 9th, 2023 at 4:46 PM ^
Actually, probably UCLA if academics and playing style are the main considerations.
December 9th, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
So it looks like we gonna be playin' all these transfer QBs. So much for our schedule not being as hard as it appeared because they're all losing their QBs.
December 9th, 2023 at 2:51 PM ^
About 600 posts about how we will have a top end schedule vs walk on QBs. Wait a sec most of these guys are rentals right now why would that change next year?
December 9th, 2023 at 4:03 PM ^
I don't think anyone expected OSU/Oregon/Washington/USC to field their own version of Nick Sheridan. Just that they'd have new starters, who may or may not be as good as the ones who played this year. Oregon might pull off replacing Nix with Gabriel, but I don't know if the other three can completely replace their guys.
December 9th, 2023 at 4:09 PM ^
I can't believe anyone argued Michigan's 2024 schedule is anything but brutal; with FIVE likely Top 10-15 opponents -- OSU, Texas, Oregon, Washington, USC -- it's probably going to rank as the No. 1 schedule in the nation.
December 9th, 2023 at 8:36 PM ^
Heard Florida’s schedule will be harder
December 10th, 2023 at 1:31 AM ^
Petty must have had it in for Michigan even before the sign stealing BS. Ohio only has one of the tough new teams on their schedule. Michigan has 3. If Michigan had to play 3 big name newcomers they could have made UCLA one of them.
December 9th, 2023 at 2:15 PM ^
Your comment almost sounds like free agency [laughs awkwardly].
I'm good with it though.
December 9th, 2023 at 12:53 PM ^
Believe they’re in the running. Some talk about Riley Leonard going to osu. If that’s the case, osu lost transfer battles to others. McCord is also at Miami this weekend. He could be the next Cane QB. At this point, I want to see McCord blow up and be a heisman finalist. The buckeyes down here have been morons to McCord and I would love to see them claim McCord like burrows after running him out.
December 9th, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
Apparently there are rumblings that OSU will lose "another wave of transfers" after the bowl. It could be a turbulent off-season for them.
December 9th, 2023 at 4:16 PM ^
I certainly hope its a turbulent off-season for them especially given their role in helping create a turbulent in-season for UM.
December 9th, 2023 at 6:21 PM ^
IF I heard correctly, Riley Leonard is headed to ND
Cam Ward isn't considering OSU...I think DJ U is also looking at other schools, so it's very possible next years starter for the Bucks is already on the roster.
December 9th, 2023 at 2:01 PM ^
The mass exodus out of Columbus has to have the attention of these folks in the portal.
I'd be wondering what's wrong with them.
December 9th, 2023 at 7:02 PM ^
Cam Ward left OSU out of his top 4
December 9th, 2023 at 12:01 PM ^
Completely unrelated to this topic, but I didn't want to make a new post: does anyone remember a MGoPost where the author had a good idea to combat ticket reselling/scalping? I think it had to do with the prices starting out higher and gradually reducing them as gameday approached? I think it was Seth in a Ticket Watch" post. If you could link it/describe it better than I am here/point me in the right direction, it'd be much appreciated.
December 9th, 2023 at 1:14 PM ^
to combat ticket reselling/scalping
Why?
December 9th, 2023 at 2:29 PM ^
I guess so the school gets more than $100 for a ticket that resells on the market for 500+? Also so less Buckeye fans get tickets.
I forget the exact reasoning but Seth (I think) made it seem like a good idea.
December 9th, 2023 at 12:05 PM ^
I'll just leave this here.
December 9th, 2023 at 12:07 PM ^
This makes no sense.
I had understood from t(tm)OSU fans that Dillon Gabriel would be their QB in the next year.
(shrug emoji)
December 9th, 2023 at 12:15 PM ^
Oregon is on M's schedule next year so this isn't even slightly OT. I know it's still weird to think they'll be in the B1G in 2024.
December 9th, 2023 at 1:45 PM ^
Weird, but awesome. The B1G badly needed this infusion of competitive football programs. The annual dates with Rutgers, Indiana, and Maryland have gotten far past stale.
December 9th, 2023 at 3:52 PM ^
Yeah that didn't even register when I wrote the post. Oregon doesn't feel like a Big 10 team that's for sure. It's going to be a LONG time until that feels somewhat normal.
December 9th, 2023 at 12:15 PM ^
The question of who OSU will get that is a clear upgrade from McCord is really interesting. Cam Ward--if he's even considering them--is more athletic but more mistake prone. And is he a more reliably accurate passer? Unclear to me.
Beyond Ward I don't see anyone out there who is clearly better than McCord. I'm sure they will bring someone in but I'm not confident they are on the right track.
December 9th, 2023 at 12:18 PM ^
Lots of Kyle McCord to Nebraska talk out there. This is fascinating to me because:
- Rhule lamented spending $$ on a QB and wanted to develop Purdy, as of a week ago. Maybe McCord isn't getting lots of big offers?
- It was reported that McCord didn't want to go to a "lesser Big Ten team" and have to face Ohio State. Nebraska plays at OSU next year. That would not be fun for Kyle.
Maybe this is not happening.
