Maximum Humility, Maximum Support
This is a very meta slice of the Postgame Presser thread, but I'd like to discuss something very special that I don't think we've seen in this amount in a very long time at M - the humility of the starters is impressive, plain and simple. These kids are so young and they're showing wisdom and humility of people far older. That speaks volumes to the adults in the room and who they're learning from.
This clip just brought great pride in this being my chosen team: https://twitter.com/BradGalli/status/1731205111471386877

The other Big Ten coaches could use some humility.

In regards to SignGate, I do understand that they are trying to save face and/or save their jobs. (Although I adamantly disagree.)
The one who needs to learn humility is Little Tony.

It's called having integrity and telling the truth. The coaches, through their words around SignGate, have showed us who they really are.
It's funny, actually: SignGate has told us more about other coaches than it has about Harbaugh.

Humility: sitting at home knowing cheeseburgers didn't work, signs didn't work, and watching Jim lead his Team onto the field. They won't admit it, they won't say it out loud, but inside, where it eats at their soul, they all know he beat them all, literally or figuratively.

The entire press conference is worth a watch if you have not watched it yet. Amazing players and a coach that wants to always give them credit. This is a special group!

The culture of Team 144 is very special. My thanks and appreciation for everyone involved.
Go Blue!

Sainristil is extremely well spoken.

As the FOX talking head with the mic said "Boy so polished....." Yep, more than you.

Clearly Harbaugh and his staff have character, and this OP speaks to the evidence. Proud of them all. Go Blue!

This started in their homes. For all the complaining that people do about our recruiting, you don't get culture like this without looking for a specific type of kid from a specific type of home. I often hear about coaches establishing good relationships with the parents. That is not unrelated to what was on display last night.

I think you can make a legitimate argument that Michigan has hiring and oversight issues which need to be addressed. But you cannot question the character and heart of this team. The players clearly have the right attitude and are wonderful representatives of the university. Harbaugh deserves credit for building that culture.

Harbaugh would be the first one to deflect this statement and say that the players deserve the credit for building the culture.

I would also look at the postgame with Donovan for this same type of humility. He says “I asked Blake how close he was to the record… and I told him, if I pop one, I’m going out of bounds at the one yard line.”
December 3rd, 2023 at 10:43 AM ^
I wish he would have had the chance to do that, because I know he would have. What a gesture that would've been!

I guess technically on the first TD, Semaj went OOB for Blake. But I don’t think Semaj is humble enough to think up something like that.
December 3rd, 2023 at 10:26 AM ^
Humble except for Semaj. "No cap. Best freshman out here.... Great job, kid."
He was hilarious. I love listening to Sainristil, but we need moar Semaj interviews!

Ask and you shall receive.

The best thing about that interview with Semaj was Harbaugh taking him over to Jenny and making sure he got camera time! You could see them coming behind JJ - Harbaugh with his arm around Semaj and a big shit eating grin, with Semaj looking nervous.
Name one other coach with a team in the Top Ten that would do that. Just one.

That's a freshman moment. You could tell the reporter caught him off guard and he didn't think he'd be on a hot mike.
Grasshopper will learn, certainly.

Agree with this take 100 %. Really good people in the program is part of the reason this team chemistry is so good. Coaches deserve a lot of credit for this. Another word for this is Class, and this team has it up and down. What we see from this team is special.

This brings a tear to the eye. I love this team

Remember Walter Nolen? Nyckoles Harbor? How, when they committed elsewhere there was some bitching here along the lines of "How can we stop losing guys like him?" So instead UM "settles" for lower-rated guys like Rod Moore and Kenneth Grant.
It looks to me like Michigan bases its recruiting on "wantit": how hot does the fire burn in this kid? That might not show up in game film (especially if the guy is clear and away the best player on the field) or recruiting ratings, but I bet that's one of the first things that Jim looks for when he's in the kid's living room.
(I can picture him walking out of the Corum living room a few years back thinking, "we GOTTA nail this guy.")
