GBMWolverine article on Harbaugh Contract Progress
Decent read. Nothing concrete, but hearing anything positive regarding Harbaugh's contract makes me happy.
November 28th, 2023 at 3:55 PM ^
In case you didn't read it, its an article based on a tweet from Josh Henschke, followed by the usual arguments that Signgate should have been a nothing burger.
November 28th, 2023 at 4:31 PM ^
To be fair, that tweet contains a link to a story, but it's paywalled.
November 28th, 2023 at 6:09 PM ^
Granted I've never negotiated for a personal contract ~10 million/year. But why is this so hard? The dude is worth $20 million/year to UM football if he's worth a dime. This is one of the richest school's in America. Find out whatever the Top coach in America gets and give Jim 5% more. No buyout if he goes pro. Make his assistant salary pool top 5, and ink up the pen.
November 28th, 2023 at 7:09 PM ^
Need a huge buyout to combat the "he's going to the NFL" anti recruiting tactics
November 28th, 2023 at 3:56 PM ^
The lede is just a feeling based around Henschke's vague tweet.
November 28th, 2023 at 4:06 PM ^
A feeling based on a tweet that's vague.
Sounds legit.

I have virtually no confidence in anything I read from insiders anymore (and never really did - my blog fandom life started in the early 2000s with Tom Beaver, yikes!), but I certainly hope everything in there is true!
November 28th, 2023 at 3:59 PM ^
I agree about not having faith in the insiders, but we can hope. I'm just trying to do my part by speaking an extension into existence!
November 28th, 2023 at 4:02 PM ^
What if I told you there was a 50.1% chance that it happens?
November 28th, 2023 at 4:20 PM ^
Oh, those updates were the best. He would go above 50.1% and everyone would freak out because that was a "lock" and then he'd be wrong and say, "well, I only said 50.1%." It was dumb

I guess the positives out of the whole signgate nonsense are:
1. We now KNOW the rest of the B1G and most of college football really do hate us. I mean before this I'd think it but then I'd be "oh, dont be so paranoid, not everybody hates Michigan" Well guess what, they freaking DO hate us.
2. "Insiders" dont know sweet dick all more than anybody here. They pretend they do so you'll buy subscriptions to their insider newsletter but at the end of the day they're just guessing like the rest of us. I mean when I hear an ad on the radio for crazy Eddie's Monday night lock of the week that goes "call my recorded line for the absolute winner in tonight's game between the Bears & the Vikings. I'm now 11-0 on Monday night and I've never felt better about a pick than i do tonight. Call my recorded line for the winning play." Well that's how everyone should see the various "insiders", like crazy Eddie, are all completely full of shit.
November 28th, 2023 at 4:32 PM ^
Completely agree with all this. Why anyone pays for insider information is ridiculous after all this. I don't know how much more proof people need that these people don't know anything about what's actually going on. Smh
And yes all of college football hates us, and I love it
November 28th, 2023 at 4:35 PM ^
You know, I used to feel this way. But the last 10 years or so of regular news has taught me one very big thing. These reporters aren't just making shit up generally. Someone has told them this. Someone who is or represents themselves as "in the know". It's that person you have to identify the agenda of.
The reporter is just naively, or likely not naively, passing along the information because wrong information sells just as well as right information.
I assume almost all of the contract talk is just people on the inside who know a contract exists, and could be signed, but haven't the foggiest why it hasn't been. It's not bad pub for M and Harbaugh to keep that contract in the news so no harm no foul right now.
November 28th, 2023 at 5:34 PM ^
This just isn’t true. The OSU site reporters were on top of the Stalions stuff a month before anybody else. So their sources clearly knew something about Michigan football prior to anyone else. How that could possibly be….
November 28th, 2023 at 5:19 PM ^
Insiders all shot their shot during Signgate and missed badly. Big risk professionally
November 28th, 2023 at 5:31 PM ^

I feel like this has been the same damn story for the last 3 years.
November 28th, 2023 at 4:00 PM ^
No idea if this is actually getting done but I sure hope so.
The article does give a nice synopsis of why this whole thing is so stupid in the first place.
November 28th, 2023 at 4:01 PM ^
Henschke also reported that Sherrone Moore will likely get a raise/extension once Harbaugh's contract is done, and that Moore turned down a job interview at another place.
November 28th, 2023 at 6:44 PM ^
If Moore is turning down interviews, he really does love Harbaugh and Michigan!
Maybe he knows he's the HC in waiting (if the AD doesn't have changeover) when Harbaugh retires. Maybe a bad take, but it makes sense.
November 28th, 2023 at 4:02 PM ^
I can't see Jim Harbaugh creating a crusade to get college players their piece of the pie then abandoning them before reaching that goal. He's coming back.
November 28th, 2023 at 4:14 PM ^
I like what you said so I will believe it

November 28th, 2023 at 5:41 PM ^
Second that emotion! Twice, even.
November 28th, 2023 at 4:31 PM ^
There may be some merit in saying he still feels some juice left in fighting this for the players, but 'abandoning' is quite steep. Even if he plans to leave he could still speak on issues he feels important until he boxes up his desk

November 28th, 2023 at 4:09 PM ^
This article makes a good argument on why the signgate is stupid. Well, it seems like we will find out about NCAA findings this week. I am sure they will wait until Friday evening to release it. Regardless UM has 90 days to respond. Hopefully, it says nothing there and move on.
Get the contract done already.
November 28th, 2023 at 4:11 PM ^
I demand Harbaugh gets a lifetime contract
November 28th, 2023 at 4:16 PM ^
Sign it Harbs.
All we're asking for is another 20 years. In the end if we average 13-14 wins you will pass JoPa for most wins ever.
November 28th, 2023 at 4:19 PM ^
Open up the checkbook, Santa & Warde. Let's get this done and lock in the 3 amigos for as long as we can.
November 28th, 2023 at 4:31 PM ^
Honestly, it just feels like the contract is there for Harbaugh to sign, but he just doesn't want to commit until after the season, where he can explore all options.
