Don't forget about Eastern. They're actually going bowling too, unlike the rest of the FBS teams in Michigan.

True. Actually quite a bit of good football in the state this year.
Ferris State coach Tony Annese is an Alma Grad.

MIAA the oldest conference! Last NCAA Div III champ from the MIAA was Albion in 1994.

My niece called me and asked me about going to Albion. I sent her the US News and World Report data and it's almost $56k a year. Since it's private there is no difference between in/out of state. That's bananas.

It is bananas. It gets worse every year. Unless the family is "of means" (where 56K yearly is pocket change) that looks like a dreadful ROI.

This might be a tl;dr read, but I do not care.
About 5 years ago (give or take) on another board, someone posted the tuition and fees for all the MIAA schools. At that time, they all ranged from $45-49k/year. I'm close with Adrian College, and their president gave a speech about that same time saying that yeah, the sticker price is 47k/year, but he could count on one hand the number of students actually paying that price. At that time, Olivet literally had 0 students paying full tuition, meaning that every undergrad was getting some sort of aid/grant/scholarship. No one was paying their $49k.
The sticker at Albion may very well be $56k/year. But 1) the rest of the MIAA schools are very similar, and 2) very good chance your niece would not be paying that.

No one pays $56K to go to Albion. Not close to that. Michigan's small colleges give aid--regardless of means-- that make them comparable $-wise to the public schools.

Very few if any pay that or close to that. Tell her to check all the schools of interest out and see what it will cost for her. Not many important things in life that you pay sticker for.

Proud to say my cousin was an elite MIAA pitcher in his day. At Hope.

And his team went down last weekend to Grand Valley, who is now on to the D2 Quarterfinals after a comeback of their own versus Pittsburg State.
Go Lakers!

Except the Michigan MAC trophy and Cannon reside in Kzoo! Not bad for 1st year coach. Go Broncos.

This Menominee - Jackson Lumen Christi game has had it all. Back and forth they go. Every time I look up they have changed the lead. M up 30-27 plenty of time in the 4th.

JLC back up again with 4:04 to go after a 6min drive.
November 26th, 2023 at 12:13 PM ^
Menominee backed up to their own 10 on 4th and 5 the QB evades defenders at his 2 and 10yd lines to scramble for about 20. 2:13 to go own 35

Lumen is going to escape, 34-30, but that was one HELL of a game.
November 26th, 2023 at 12:46 PM ^
Lol. DAMN IT! I was in the bubble man! I’m vacationing in SE Asia and recorded the LCHS game on Bally sports channel. Had no idea it wasn’t safe to read MGOBLOG!!!
Go Lumen Christi High School Titans from the class of 76… The FIRST undefeated team in school history! All the way back when LCHS was Class B. This is MI state championship #13 I believe.

Watch it anyway. It'll be well worth your time. Holy hannah, what a game.

Are there any other teams in Michigan besides the ones listed? I can't remember.
Oh, wait, yeah, there is the one that just hired a coach who all the message board nutcases were pissing and moaning about just a week ago and are now backpedaling and gaslighting each other trying to pretend they wanted him all along and the two months of obsessing over Urban Meyer were just for funsies, because acting like pathetic fanboy losers and making bizarre AI images of grown men are DEFINITELY fun. I think it's the same fanbase under the hilariously mistaken impression anyone outside of East Landfill or Columbus or ESPN cares as much as they do about Michigan's "scandal," if at all.

I was thinking corunna but since they beat a team from ohio in dramatic fashion the Scots have my vote. Glad EMU is bowling!
November 26th, 2023 at 2:49 PM ^
Go Scots! My daughter is a Freshman now. Wife and I are class of ‘98
November 26th, 2023 at 3:09 PM ^
Met my wife at Alma. Class of 87 for me and 90 for her. She ran track under Coach Cole. Had a great time there!

Class of ‘86. Which Joe are you? I was football and track.
