Who did I miss?
November 22nd, 2023 at 8:46 AM ^
I get why JT Barrett is on here (2016) but IIRC he actually seemed like a pretty decent dude.
November 22nd, 2023 at 8:49 AM ^
I think we should just say the 2016 officiating crew is on this list.
Also surprised no mention of Tressel.
November 22nd, 2023 at 11:38 AM ^
No mention of Zach Smith either--sorry if I'm late to this
November 22nd, 2023 at 8:51 AM ^
Yeah, that was more about the fact he seemed to play forever and was really good and was on the right side of an all-time bogus call. I don't have a lot of animosity towards him generally.
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:15 AM ^
Pretty sure JT is on the Lions staff this year.
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:58 AM ^
The picture of DG kneeling next to him after his injury is one of my favorite moments in sports.
November 22nd, 2023 at 11:08 AM ^
I would agree about Barrett. Maybe switch him out for Troy Smith? There is also a very recency bias in this list, but I really can't disagree with it.
November 22nd, 2023 at 11:29 AM ^
Clarett has defended Harbaugh during the whole signgate thing. Also he only played one year at OSU so I wouldn't put him on the list.
November 22nd, 2023 at 8:49 AM ^
My Honorable Mentions: Anthony Gonzalez, Ezekeil Elliott, Brian Hartline, Nader Adbullah, and I read somewhere that John Legend is reportedly an Ohio St fan and I can't stand that guy, so him too. (And actually, Tom Tupa kinda ruled but he's still a Buckeye and a notable special teamer so he's on the list hahah.)
I forgot to add:Dustin Fox and as many pointed out, Chris Gamble especially.
November 22nd, 2023 at 10:47 AM ^
Pretty sure Legend is from Yellow Springs, so him being a nut fan tracks.
November 22nd, 2023 at 11:39 AM ^
Springfield--I grew up around there.
November 22nd, 2023 at 11:07 AM ^
I can't believe no one has said Art Schlichter!!!!
He's running a book out of prison!!
November 22nd, 2023 at 12:53 PM ^
Dude, not everyone is as old as you are 🤣
November 22nd, 2023 at 1:23 PM ^
I thought of Schlichter too but decided that was piling on--dude has a serious addiction problem. Plus I don't think his record against us was very good.
November 22nd, 2023 at 8:49 AM ^
For Urban and Ryan I think you inadvertently put a “t” on the end of their designations.
November 22nd, 2023 at 8:50 AM ^
Joey Galloway is an annoying prick on tv.
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:12 AM ^
For this week, Joey ranked the Buckeyes second, and Michigan sixth.
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:30 AM ^
He was twisting himself into all sorts of contradictions to make the case against Michigan last night on the CFP rankings show.
He argued that Michigan hasn't looked good the last two weeks, but failed to mention that UM's opponents the last two weeks also played OSU close. The only difference is that these two teams were at the back end of UM's schedule.
Dude's a hater through and through. And he doesn't even try to hide it.
November 22nd, 2023 at 1:33 PM ^
Did he get denied at Michigan? He thinks highly of himself, I could see how that could hurt his ego.
November 22nd, 2023 at 10:35 AM ^
Joey Galloway is an annoying prick o̶n̶ ̶t̶v̶ ̶.
FTFY
November 22nd, 2023 at 8:55 AM ^
I have way more respect for Woody Hayes than those two assistants on your list.
November 22nd, 2023 at 10:10 AM ^
Respect for a un-balanced petulant man-child? This fucker had an unhealthy fucked-up hatred for the State of Michigan. Why? Because one of his former assistants went to coach at U of M and beat his ass in 1969? Woody was a tantrum throwing nutcase who inspired a sick fanbase of non-students statewide with a serious inferiority complex.
November 22nd, 2023 at 10:37 AM ^
Yeah Woody Hayes can rot forever. The thing you have to understand about the median composite Ohio State fan is that they don't venerate Woody in spite of him punching Charlie Bauman, but because of the punch.
November 22nd, 2023 at 11:34 AM ^
He also excused War Crimes in Vietnam:
Speaking at a football banquet in 1969, Hayes spoke about the recently revealed My Lai Massacre. He stated that the Vietnamese men in My Lai deserved to die, "and I wouldn't be so sure those women were innocent. The children are obviously innocent – if they are less than five."
November 22nd, 2023 at 11:46 AM ^
What a piece of shit.
November 22nd, 2023 at 2:48 PM ^
This guy college footballs.
The utter psychosis from the "the ohios" is directly at Hayes' feet.
He punched a kid in the throat live on tv. He was an utter bastard.
November 22nd, 2023 at 12:16 PM ^
Not me. I became a Michigan fan during the 10 Year War. Hayes is the reason today you still see children giving the finger to Michigan fans and "adult" OSU fans spitting at us, while uttering obscenities at perfect strangers. Before him, the rivalry was spirited, but at least civil. His military, take-no-prisoners mindset made him a poor sport who set a bad example of how to lose, which you still see in a lot of Buckeye fans today.
November 22nd, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
Honestly, you can say that for society as a whole. Back in the day we taught them the 'Script Ohio', and didn't they give Tom Harmon a standing ovation? People just aren't as...I don't know, you fill in the blank.
November 22nd, 2023 at 1:54 PM ^
Yep, in a way he is what Dantonio was to the MSU rivalry, turned it nasty.
That being said, may give an OSU fan or two a middle finger on Saturday, no reason for them to feel welcome in Ann Arbor after so many years of not being welcome there. I'll never condone physical contact (unless they do it first), but doesn't need to be the friendly confines either.
November 22nd, 2023 at 2:03 PM ^
I'm agreeing with you. Woody enlisted in the Navy in WW2. He rose in rank to Lieutenant Commander and commanded a Patrol Craft and later a Destroyer Escort.
He was part of the 'Greatest Generation' and he served his country during a war.
I can't hate the guy.
November 22nd, 2023 at 2:53 PM ^
I thank them for their service, but most of the "greatest generation" didn't volunteer to go to war, they were drafted.
November 22nd, 2023 at 6:32 PM ^
I don't think that makes a difference. They served.
November 22nd, 2023 at 7:10 PM ^
Most were drafted because volunteers could choose to avoid the infantry. So the army stopped accepting volunteers
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:05 AM ^
There should be 10,000 players on this list.
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:07 AM ^
Personally, I'm a big fan of Ryan Day.
Back to edit in the 3rd score.
30-24
45-23
42-27
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:13 AM ^
A Trifecta would just mean more.
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:08 AM ^
Maurice has been talking sense on Connorgate. No hate.
Some hate for Cris Carter.
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:11 AM ^
I'm so confused about Chris Spielman. I can't stand his Buckeye side but love his Lions side. It's like sticking one hand in ice water and the other hand in hot water.
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:26 AM ^
Chris was a class guy who respected the rivalry and played hard and clean
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:54 AM ^
agree with this. Chris Spielman is the OSU player that I extend great respect for. He played hard and fair. He knows/respects the game (I think I remember him scoring for the Lions and touching the ball into the end zone since that was how you used to score in the old days and he wanted to show respect for guys who played in the early days of the sport); he was a great TV analyst and (I thought) showed great respect for UM and the rivalry; he had a solid pro career AND most importantly he showed great devotion, support and love for his first wife Stefanie when she went through the cancer that eventually took her life. Yes OSU has many douche bags but Spielman is a good guy and if I didn't acknowledge that it would say a lot more about me than Chris.
November 22nd, 2023 at 11:48 AM ^
Spelman is and gas always been an asshole. I met him when he was with the Lions. A bigger prick I have not met!
November 22nd, 2023 at 1:17 PM ^
Your posting suggests the same
November 22nd, 2023 at 2:35 PM ^
I remember the exact touchdown that you refer to - it was Spielman's only pro touchdown ever, so it has to be the same play. My recollection is that it was against the Packers or Bears - so, extra good - and that it shows up in the box score as a fumble recovery but in reality Spielman simply reached in and took the ball away from the ballcarrier, and was most of the way to the end zone before too many people realized what had happened.
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:50 AM ^
In the 2007 documentary narrated by Liev Schreiber ("Michigan vs. Ohio State: The Rivalry"), Spielman said that he wanted to go to Michigan, but his dad forced him to go to Ohio State.
November 22nd, 2023 at 10:28 AM ^
Total respect for Spielman on and off the field. His relationship and support of his first wife, Stefanie through her five episodes of cancer, while also fund raising for breast cancer research was very admirable.
November 22nd, 2023 at 4:39 PM ^
Yeah he always seemed like a good dude. Even though he's one of the best all-time players, I didn't include guys like him and Eddie George and Orlando Pace because they seem like class acts. And of course American hero, Jesse Owens. I'll have to add them to the All Time Buckeye Good Guys list.
November 22nd, 2023 at 9:13 AM ^
I think that you missed the most obvious one, Robert Reynolds.
"Reynolds is known for an incident in college referred to as the Reynolds–Sorgi incident, where Reynolds intentionally choked Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Jim Sorgi, injuring Sorgi's trachea, after the play had been whistled dead."
He also attempted to injure Chris Perry by twisting his knee in the 2003 game and attempted to injure Kellen Winslow, Jr in the 2002 Fiesta Bowl. He also had a domestic dispute with his wife in 2006.
Reynolds is at the top of any Villain List.
November 22nd, 2023 at 12:04 PM ^
I remember watching that game vs Wisconsin when tried to crush his trachea.
November 22nd, 2023 at 12:23 PM ^
Oh yeah, he was a real dirty POS. Didn't the Big Ten only suspend him for like half a game for that? He should have been kicked out for the rest of the season at least for the Sorgi assault. Anyone who hasn't seen that should Google the video. He was basically choking him during a pileup.
November 22nd, 2023 at 2:40 PM ^
Choking a player? Big deal.
If he'd really wanted to incur the wrath of the B1G, he should have done something horrendous ... like stealing signs.
