OT: CBB - hoops action tonight - B1G and other teams - general discussion
It’s Tuesday evening and some B1G teams are playing. Are you watching? Do you care?
The Spartans play Duke in Chicago, followed by Kansas and Kentucky.
It’s about half way through the first half and - my hope is - those two teams (Duke / MSU) bring this exact same game if / when they face Michigan this season. The score is 12-11 after eleven minutes of play.
At 8:00 pm, Marquette tips off against Illinois in Champaign. Northwestern also adds to the Gavitt Games matchups as they host DePaul in a Chicago “north side” contest.
And, on the gridiron - there’s MACtion.
Oh, my choice for the meteor … Chicago’s United Center…
Have a great night.

This Duke/Sparty game is sloppy as hell
November 14th, 2023 at 7:35 PM ^
Perfect game for Spartans. Shitty basketball with questions around officiating. Mix it up and top with an ugly little elf and voila: MSU victory
November 14th, 2023 at 7:38 PM ^
Neither one of these teams can shoot. I have no idea how msu was a top 5 team.
November 14th, 2023 at 7:46 PM ^
Go Big East, Go Duke!
November 14th, 2023 at 8:28 PM ^
Go Duke? No. Fucking hate Duke basketball with passion.
Beat State.
November 14th, 2023 at 7:52 PM ^
Wisconsin got crushed.
November 14th, 2023 at 7:53 PM ^
I'll tell you what Bobby, watching this Duke/MSU game is making me appreciate our boys even more.
We play with great chemistry, great shooting, very cohesive.
Watching this shit is making my eyes hurt.
I think we have at least a sweet 16 level team this year that can win 25 games before the tourney.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:35 PM ^
Yeah this game is a complete mess. These teams are ass and they have played each other way to often. And Jay Bilas literally whispers on broadcasts.
November 15th, 2023 at 5:15 AM ^
It was 5-2 at the five-minute mark, and I thought I'd get more entertainment emptying the dehumidifier; I forgot to go back.
November 14th, 2023 at 7:53 PM ^
Playoff rankings come out at halftime
November 14th, 2023 at 7:55 PM ^
Not at HT, in between the 2 games.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:03 PM ^
so we have to watch this trash game to the end. thanks for the heads up
November 14th, 2023 at 8:20 PM ^
You bet, every stupid person network needs to milk the shit outta shit, if you will.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:42 PM ^
Davis just said we are a number two team even without harBaugh
November 14th, 2023 at 7:53 PM ^
Imma watching the Michigan St. John's game again...
November 14th, 2023 at 7:56 PM ^
It looks like Izzo has reached across the state and stolen (or trying to emulate) one of Michigan’s recognized coaches.
Yes, I’m referring to Fielding Yost and his “point a minute” teams.
November 14th, 2023 at 7:57 PM ^
I like our chances against this overrated MSU team this year.
I'll be rooting against all B1G teams from now on, fuck them all!!!
November 14th, 2023 at 8:02 PM ^
another epic shooting performance by sparty, that team is in a world of hurt.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:04 PM ^
MSU regularly looks like garbage early in the season. Defense is still there which means if their offense comes around they’ll be tough like any year
November 14th, 2023 at 8:05 PM ^
Sparty fans who were hoping that hoops would make them forget about football must be despondent. They can't shoot for shit. 29% FG% at half. Pathetic...
November 14th, 2023 at 9:26 PM ^
Good!! F those MooAnon pricks!!
November 14th, 2023 at 8:10 PM ^
Why is MSU in the "champions classic" every year? They've won 1 title in the last 40+ years. Is it bc of the media's hard on for Izzo?
November 14th, 2023 at 8:58 PM ^
In all fairness, who else do you put in it? UConn I guess. But I agree it seems like it’s these 4 teams every year.
November 14th, 2023 at 9:28 PM ^
Maybe someone who has won a NC in this century? That would be a start.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:10 PM ^
ESPN host on promo for playoff rankings, “does Georgia jump osu.” Zero mention of Michigan being in the mix. They don’t even pretend to hide their SEC bias on anything.
November 15th, 2023 at 5:17 AM ^
We boycott ESPN here; just say no.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:10 PM ^
What always gets me about these early-season "championship" tournaments is that MSU keeps being included despite winning one (1) title 23 years ago and making the title game once on top of that. Villanova's got 2 titles in the past decade, UNC's got 3 over that span, hell Louisville and Maryland have more recent titles but we don't talk about them in such hallowed terms.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:33 PM ^
I was just going to ask that, how the hell is Sparty included in this Champions Classic??
November 14th, 2023 at 9:09 PM ^
Yeah, it's all marketing but I feel like once Izzo goes we're going to see a pretty significant drop in MSU's public recognition as an "elite" program.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:24 PM ^
Wait until basketball season
November 14th, 2023 at 8:30 PM ^
my distaste for sparty has grown to the point that i would actually root for duke to win. as if dantoniack wasn't bad enough, after the tunnel incident i want nothing but sparty wandering aimlessly in the desert for 40 yrs. clean house completely. then let's talk.
go duke.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:59 PM ^
There has never been a time in my life where I wouldn’t have cheered for Duke to beat Staee.
November 14th, 2023 at 9:29 PM ^
Agreed!
November 14th, 2023 at 8:30 PM ^
I mean I’ll root for a fellow ACC team in this Champions Classic game!
November 14th, 2023 at 8:36 PM ^
I see what you did there and I like it.
The ACC would be a great spot to land, think about it:
- many like-minded academic schools.
- fertile recruiting areas.
- most away games would be in good weather, when those schools come to A2 in the latter half of the season, it would be cold most likely. Even road game at Syracuse is in a dome.
- also, I highly doubt FSU and Clemson would want to leave if our money cannot joined.
Probably other advantages.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:31 PM ^
Michigan women beating the hell out of Oakland. 66-27 after 3.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:33 PM ^
I use to cheer for most of the big ten teams. anymore I hope they all crumble minus Michigan. go duke
November 14th, 2023 at 8:35 PM ^
I hate Duke, but I hate Sparty worse than the most painful kidney stone!
November 14th, 2023 at 8:42 PM ^
I agree, I hate that it's come to this ( I never cheered for osu / MSU before this BS) but once we hit March or football bowl season id pull for teams like Purdue , Wisconsin , Indiana ..But moving forward, hard pass
November 14th, 2023 at 10:28 PM ^
Kidney stones suck, but the morphine almost makes them worth it…
November 14th, 2023 at 8:33 PM ^
Marquette-Illinois playing at a pretty quick clip so far. Kolek seems healthy, so a boost for MU.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:39 PM ^
And of course since I posted this, IL has taken every possession down to the last few seconds. Looking like a Bo Ryan badger team out there now…
November 14th, 2023 at 8:38 PM ^
Still have no idea why any high school recruit would want to play for the tiny angry green elf??
November 14th, 2023 at 8:45 PM ^
Michigan women crush Oakland, 80-39.
November 14th, 2023 at 8:52 PM ^
Go Big East! Hope they win 7-1. Go Duke!
November 14th, 2023 at 9:12 PM ^
Heartbreaking seeIng Sparty lose.
November 14th, 2023 at 9:15 PM ^
A loss for the B1G - so sad /s
November 14th, 2023 at 9:15 PM ^
Good riddance to Sparty. Can never get enough of them losing.
November 14th, 2023 at 9:17 PM ^
Oh my, this is terrible. Both MSU and Wisconsin have 1-2 records.
LOL.. just kidding. What a nice start to the season for those two squads..
November 14th, 2023 at 9:17 PM ^
F Tom izzo calling timeout with 17 seconds left just to let the other team dribble it out. Lose a finger.
