PSU Schadenfreude
Apparently Michigan has "stolen" PSU's season. In case they change the tone-deaf headline:
Good gravy I am so happy to have real writers here on MGoBlog. Imagine having that awful drivel instead.
Thanks, Alex, for an actually readable recap!

Stop whining and get a better team
November 11th, 2023 at 6:17 PM ^
And a better coach. Especially one doesn't do this every time he plays a top ranked team
November 11th, 2023 at 6:21 PM ^
No. No. No. Frames is great. Please keep him as long as possible.
November 11th, 2023 at 9:53 PM ^
100%. Anyone can see he is right on the verge of greatness. I cannot understand all the negativity.
November 11th, 2023 at 8:38 PM ^
As someone who was at the game today, PSU fans were nothing but class. Everyone is terrible online.
I still consider PSU to be the nicest people for an away game. Getting to the stadium on the winding, narrow roads with bad traffic is still the worst in the BIG however.
November 11th, 2023 at 10:23 PM ^
Nebraska should win nicest home fans. They are incredibly friendly, love college football history, and offer tailgate goodies.
November 11th, 2023 at 10:41 PM ^
Nebraska is better. They have no equal in CFB.
November 12th, 2023 at 2:37 AM ^
the "Fire Franklin" chants were my personal favorite. Likely somewhere else in the stadium at the same time there were people chanting "Free Harbaugh"
November 11th, 2023 at 10:26 PM ^
Please tell me this is real and not some beautiful photo shop
November 11th, 2023 at 6:15 PM ^
Facing 4th and 6 at their 30 yard line, and no clock left,...
??? They had four minutes left
...Penn State had to go for it,
No they didn't.
While the refs did no favors for Penn State, the reality is the defense played well enough to keep the team in the game. The ineffectiveness of the offense once again doomed the Lions, who now have a home game against a resurgent Rutgers squad to try to right the ship.
Blaming the refs?
Also, no mention of the stupidity of going for 2 in the 2nd quarter. Perhaps they don't recognize Frames' ineptitude. Good
November 11th, 2023 at 6:18 PM ^
Blaming the refs?
Would be on-brand.
November 11th, 2023 at 7:17 PM ^
I felt like the refs were fine.
November 11th, 2023 at 7:45 PM ^
I expect a boatload of Offense holding and Defense PI today. Glad I was wrong.
November 12th, 2023 at 12:00 AM ^
You were close. They permitted PSU OL to hold and PSU corners and linebackers to hold receivers.
So basically the same thing but without the telltale flags.
That's at least a 2 score difference, and Harbaugh is another 2 score difference. I'm irritated that it wasn't 53–10 like it should have been.
Great job by our guys, all things considered.
November 11th, 2023 at 8:01 PM ^
It was really weird because the first half the refs were absolutely fucking Michigan intentionally. Then after that they just sort of said fuck it, PSU sucks
November 11th, 2023 at 6:19 PM ^
No favors. Except a questionable DPI on Johnson, that stupid PF on Barrett for celebrating with his helmet off, multiple late hits not called on Penn State defenders…
November 11th, 2023 at 6:31 PM ^
DPI on Johnson was the right call and a stupid play by him
the two most blatant ref jobs was the picked up flag on the punt which wasn’t even close. Not even sure the defender was touched by a M player let alone anything close to blocked into the punter. The other was the blatant missed holding on the same play as the hands to the face. The hold was as obvious as the hands to the face
November 11th, 2023 at 6:32 PM ^
DPI on Johnson was the right call and a stupid play by him
Found Joel Klatt's account.
Edit: Seriously, the consensus is this was a good call? Am I remembering it incorrectly? As I recall he placed his hand on the guy's hip. He didn't grab him or turn him.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:44 PM ^
November 11th, 2023 at 6:55 PM ^
I thought the DPI on Johnson was legit. They could have let it go but not wrong for calling it.
November 11th, 2023 at 7:10 PM ^
Agreed. But since they did call it, it’s an example of Penn State getting a break on a close call instead of M.
November 11th, 2023 at 11:06 PM ^
The dB coach should have them all wear the same color gloves as the opponents jerseys. Lots of db's do it in the NFL just for that reason.
November 11th, 2023 at 8:31 PM ^
I agree with you. Live, Inthought it was a fair call but on replay I thought it was tickytack. Not the worst DPI I’ve ever seen by any means, but definitely not enough contact to really merit a flag.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:37 PM ^
The hold on Allar's TD was more obvious and right in the view of the umpire.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:57 PM ^
Thank you!! Graham got fucking bearhugged on that play! Such an obvious hold.
November 11th, 2023 at 8:16 PM ^
No hold on that play but our running backs can get holding calls from Mars... but at least not today.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:45 PM ^
They missed about 15 holding calls on the PSU Oline
November 12th, 2023 at 5:39 AM ^
They could call holding whenever they want. If they called all those penalties it would be unwatchable.
November 11th, 2023 at 9:21 PM ^
The other was the missed holding on the Allar TD just before the half.
November 11th, 2023 at 10:05 PM ^
I completely agree. The WR wasn’t even going to come close to catching that ball so not sure why Johnson felt the need to turn his waist. You could even tell with Johnson’s reaction that he knew he was guilty. That no call for the running/roughing the punter was ridiculous. I will say though that as worried as I was about the refs today, I thought there were no ill intent calls made against Michigan due to the ongoing circus by the B1G.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:44 PM ^
Holding the entire game, never called.
Overturning an INT that was a good catch with zero video evidence.
The DPI and INT were both to extend their scoring drives.
All they did was give PSU favors.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:58 PM ^
That interception was clearly NOT a catch. He clearly trapped it as shown by replay
November 11th, 2023 at 7:08 PM ^
I agree with that but I hated that they gave Barrett a penalty (and PSU a 1st down) for celebrating an INT the Refs themselves called.
November 11th, 2023 at 9:12 PM ^
That sucked but you can't take that flag back.
November 11th, 2023 at 10:05 PM ^
But he still put on the glasses which I love every time.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:22 PM ^
Like when they picked up that huge flag for being blocked into running the kicker? Like when they had that egregious holding on their first touchdown? Refs were clearly favoring PSU in my highly unbiased opinion.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:50 PM ^
Very PSU early. Balanced out a bit later.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:25 PM ^
No team blames reds more than Penn State. They still have new guy syndrome after all these years.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:38 PM ^
Blaming reds against the maize and blue is an interesting strategy indeed
November 11th, 2023 at 6:42 PM ^
You'd think McCarthy would be blaming the reds.
November 11th, 2023 at 10:07 PM ^
Communism was a red herring!
November 11th, 2023 at 8:17 PM ^
Best they blame the refs and keep their coach.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:25 PM ^
The refs called zero holding penalties on PSU's OL. That's at least a half dozen favors. What more could they expect?
November 11th, 2023 at 7:23 PM ^
Yeah.... What lens do they have.. refs were not letting Penn State hold constantly while we get interesting calls (and lack there of.. like running in the punter)..
Added, Rutgers actually made Iowa have some offense at the end of the game.. Rutgers lay an egg on their game...
November 11th, 2023 at 9:04 PM ^
I literally laughed out loud on a replay of an incomplete pass by Allar where it showed McGregor being held as bad as you you could possibly be held with no flag, and of course it happened all game. But please PSU, go ahead, blame refs
November 11th, 2023 at 6:16 PM ^
What a bunch of sore losers.
I guarantee they've had our signs like others. They knew they could change or go to a play wrist card.
Babies.
November 11th, 2023 at 6:37 PM ^
They had a wrist play card. The cameras clearly showed Allar looking at it at least once.
November 11th, 2023 at 7:09 PM ^
Both QBs did.
November 11th, 2023 at 8:56 PM ^
But Pettiti was told it's too difficult for teams to do that. And he finds that information to be credible.
