SI article on Connor Stalions (with text conversation from 2021)

I really hate to add another thread to this whole b.s., but... there is actually some new/relevant information in this article.  Provides insight into Stallions previous duties and his character.

The guy seemed a bit... too emotionally invested, for quite some time.

Jim Harbaugh: Welcome to the team Connor!

Connor: Thank you coach! This is TRUELY a dream come true! I would do anything for Michigan football!

Jim: That's what I like to hear! Enthusiasm unknown to mankind!

Connor: Hell yeah! Glad you brought that up. Here is a 600 page manifesto on my passion for Michigan football!

Jim: ...Uhhh, that's great...

Connor: Oh and here is all of my scouting reports! I took the liberty of scouting all our opponents and potential opponents! Even bought tickets on my own dime! That's attacking the day with enthusiasm unknown to mankind, am I right?!

Jim: ... (thinks - maybe time to change that saying)...

One of the things I remember about that series is that he launched out with it and understandably started to get some flack after a post or two. I figured it would die out on its own, that it was some 14-year-old who thought it would be fun a bit off more than he could chew.

He kept at it for longer than I expected, and I believe he stopped due to what became a “dog pile” of pushback. I now realize, with some awe and some horror, that he both fully intended and was fully capable of writing all 101 planned entries.

Now I wish we’d have let him finish.

He posted two diaries in the series (if you go to the diaries page and advance past the front page, you can change the url “page=1” to find any page of them; his are on page 74 or 75 or so, May 2012, counting down to that Alabama game). His posts quickly became the subject of animated debate, including appearances from guys like profitgoblue and even Seth. Pursuant to feedback he switched from diaries to board posts, one of which I posted in with a modest (and, unsurprisingly, lengthy) mix of encouragement and “try this instead” suggestion. Found this on page 1680 of the board archive.

So the real question is, if you could go back in time and post feedback on those threads, what do you pose? Do you plead with him to avoid a life of crime, or just to stick with tv broadcasts?

Connor, you seem like a nice kid, so I'm going to let you in on the secret.  Every Michigan victory is earned by sacrificing a young child to Cthulhu; OSU wins call for twins.  Also, Michigan football is uniquely polluting and will cause the heat death of the universe within a decade.

For the love of all that is holy, please redirect your passion to those glorious saviors of humanity who are working to try to rid the world of evil before it's too late, The® Ohio State Buckeyes.
