Why? I want to see Jim having us go for 2 up 5 scores Saturday just for Mork's reaction.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:22 PM ^
And he should signal in the play with two middle fingers.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:31 PM ^
Jim stole that sign! I've seen people use it on I-94! I'm calling the NCAA.
October 19th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
Well, their definition of play is relative. They intended to "play" all their games so far.
October 19th, 2023 at 5:19 PM ^
Notice how Pete is trying to win the handshake by drawing Jim's hand closer? Pete makes a critical error because this move allows Jim to counter by accentuating his height advantage.
Obama was a master:
October 19th, 2023 at 5:23 PM ^
Yeah. Pete's thinking he can intimate Jim, forgetting how Jim's half a head taller.
October 19th, 2023 at 5:28 PM ^
Not sure if the typo is "intimate" instead of "intimidate" OR you're suggesting that Pete's trying to get intimate with Jim.

Yeah but we all know who had the size advantage below the belt
October 19th, 2023 at 9:11 PM ^
Yeah, Carroll always was a bigger ass.

Play in the same way the played a second half against Rutgers?
October 19th, 2023 at 5:35 PM ^
Does anyone remember the post game handshake between Harbaugh and Schiano earlier this season? I don't recall any outward animosity, but Schiano was angry in a halftime interview about things he said were going on. I wouldn't be surprised if he is behind these allegations,
Oddly, though, the score was 14-7 at the half, and then Michigan scored 17 unanswered points to end the game. If Schiano believed his signs were being stolen at halftime, shouldn't the game have gotten closer?
October 19th, 2023 at 5:45 PM ^
If stealing signs explains Rutgers' mediocrity on offense, there must be a whole lot of that going around.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:03 PM ^
Must have been a lot of sign-stealing going on in Piscataway in the fourth quarter last Saturday for Rutgers to come back from a 24-6 against Sparty.
Sign stealing isn't illegal. It's how you communicate what you know from that surveillance that is.
October 19th, 2023 at 5:59 PM ^
I thought he was angry about the officiating and was being careful not to say so.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:05 PM ^
He did apparently clarify that his comments were related the officiating, I believe
October 19th, 2023 at 6:24 PM ^
If Schiano believed the signs were being stolen at halftime, he should have changed them. End of discussion.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:37 PM ^
He was mad about the officiating as well as his team getting some procedural penalties and missing a FG. I know the MSU/OSU beat is all in on this but clearly that's not the reality.

Everyone remembers the "What's your deal?" handshake but the one with Schwartz was much more confrontational.
October 19th, 2023 at 5:45 PM ^
Harbaugh was offended on the behalf of football in general that Schwartz called himself a coach while putting that awful product on the field.
October 19th, 2023 at 7:42 PM ^
Schwartz was a good coach and got the Lions to the playoffs at least once. He wasn't good enough to take out the curse but he was solid. He's been a really good defensive coordinator since then.
October 19th, 2023 at 10:38 PM ^
You must be a Cleveland Browns fan, Schwartz was horrible! Even that one playoff season, the defense was one of the worst in the league, and showed it in a big way the last two games. On Offense anyone could have coached that team to 10 wins.
Coach Calls in the Playl: Throw the ball to 81.
Stafford: But he's triple teamed.
Coach: THROW THE DAMN BALL TO 81!

That “health and safety of our players” bullshit has the rotten stink of a psychopath who’s sniffed out the judge as a fellow misogynist and so not even hiding his smirk as he wails on the stand about “fearing for his life” while his spouse is in the courtroom still bearing bandaged stitches.
They not only have no remorse for last year’s attack; they’re publicly gloating about it.
But sure, let’s move on, people.
October 19th, 2023 at 5:51 PM ^
Yeah, like the guy in Dirty Harry claiming police brutality.
Fucking assaulters and cheap shot artists worried about "health and safety"
October 19th, 2023 at 5:49 PM ^
This whole NCAA thing is definitely a distraction but I can’t help but think with the leadership on our team that it is just going to add fuel and momentum to our fire. I just think we have too many players that are focused on the team and why they came back in the first place. To win two championships. Go Blue!
October 19th, 2023 at 5:54 PM ^
Sparty wishes we stole Mel’s sign…ature off that contact
We stole Mel’s signs but we aren’t sure what the jerking off motion means?
Harbaugh should resign!

In Yahoo Sports news breaking account, it doesn't know the details of the cheating allegation, the actual violation or the nature of the case as it relates to how alleged sign stealing leads to a competitive advantage. Its story simply outlines the NCAA accusation to the Big Ten of the alleged cheating now under conference investigation.
The story reports that two Michigan opponents accused Michigan of having stolen their offensive or defensive signals, something that in itself is not illegal unless the inside information is communicated in real time by electronic device to the field.
The contention is that unnamed people have assisted in advanced scouting of Michigan future opponents including potential playoff opposition by attending their games for the purpose of surveilling their methods of sideline field communication to assist in preparation of future contests.
The only other significant detail is that Michigan State and all future conference opponents of Michigan this season have been advised of the pending investigation. No specific program allegations or individuals are named in the report.

Important note amongst the noise today, nobody has spoken/mentioned/pointed to/alluded/clarified that the above has actually happened. Merely that their signs were stolen (which totally never happens in football, a game where you spend countless hours trying to guess the opponent's next move)

I know conspiracy theories are quite popular in Ohio. I didn't realize they were in NJ, and wherever the NCAA claims to lie down.
October 19th, 2023 at 8:53 PM ^
Indianapolis
October 19th, 2023 at 6:36 PM ^
This sounds like an angle to ban us from playoffs this season. Like I don’t normally prescribe to conspiracy theories but this coming out 2 days before the state game smells to high heaven.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:37 PM ^
I just don't get how the conference can go to all the schools in the conference and pretty much say that they believe Michigan is cheating. That's fucking wild to me, and that the conference would would actually allow on any level MSU to just not play out of some moral high ground.
This conference is so fucking stupid and I hate it. They've bent over backwards for OSU before, but they wouldn't defend one of their main programs, instead they would actually try to sink them.
Michigan has not thrown their weight around nearly enough. They probably have less power now because of the new schools joining also being huge programs, but before that they should have told the B1G to watch their fucking attitude with regards to Michigan.
October 19th, 2023 at 7:04 PM ^
It is likely the source on this is Rutgers. Schiano alluded at halftime to a sideline reporter that something was "amiss." If Michigan, indeed, was reading Rutgers signs that could be for any number of reasons, and the mostly likely source of that is observation as the game was going on.
That said, if Rutgers complaints was all the NCAA had I do not believe there would be the basis for an investigation as the rules prohibit in personam scouting and not sign stealing.
October 19th, 2023 at 8:00 PM ^
Schiano clarified after the game he was alluding to the refereeing. Someone else posted that earlier in this thread.
October 19th, 2023 at 5:58 PM ^
Did Michigan steal signs when they posted 70+ on Rutgers?
October 19th, 2023 at 5:59 PM ^
This game gonna be ugly with a mad Michigan team and Jim Harbaugh. 78-0 here we come.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:22 PM ^
It's big of them to go ahead and play us.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:45 PM ^
It's gotta be one heck of a motivation to their players that their coaches/administration thought seriously, if only for a moment, about forfeiting the game...and went public with it.
Way to say "We're with you all the way, guys!"
October 19th, 2023 at 6:24 PM ^
What I'm hoping is happening inside Schembechler hall is they're not paying attention to any of this bullshit and instead are focusing on kicking State's ass Saturday.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:37 PM ^
I hope so too but this is bad juju still don’t get how the ncaa just lobs this shit out there without Willy nillly
October 19th, 2023 at 7:19 PM ^
I think once everyone at MSU realized that this game probably represents the highest revenue game on the schedule, they couldn't back down from the 'threat' of not playing Michigan fast enough.
Let's be honest - if this game wasn't the 2nd highest revenue game for Michigan, it sure as hell wouldn't be a protected rivalry on the schedule.
MSU trying to gaslight everyone as if they are the victims of the violence perpetrated in this 'rivalry' is so little brother.
October 19th, 2023 at 8:18 PM ^
I think we should simply compliment them on their graciousness in playing the game. It's not easy to somehow let it be known that you considered ditching a shot at your in-state rival because of various minor, likely unfounded allegations which don't concern you. It's not easy to publicly mull chickening out and then pull back from it. We should compliment them on choosing the brave path after all.

Despite being green with envy? I hope they pull through. Participation trophies are in order since the pride comes before the fall but after the unnecessary beating.
