That's likely a season/career ender.
September 30th, 2023 at 9:57 PM ^
Huh?
No it's not...it's probably an ACL and he's out for the year, but he still has eligibility left, why would his career be over?
Edit: This remains inaccurate information. Cade is a RS Junior, due to his COVID year.
Also weird that some folks are almost rejoicing in this injury. Anyway, this is common knowledge, he and JJ have the same eligibility...that was part of the whole QB "debate". There is no reason to call this career ending.
October 1st, 2023 at 6:03 PM ^
Nobody's collegiate career is ever over post-covid. Isn't Rocky Lombardi on year 7?
September 30th, 2023 at 8:14 PM ^
Gotta wonder if that Iowa medical staff had him on the field when he had no business being out there considering he had a non contact injury in August as well.
September 30th, 2023 at 9:02 PM ^
Cade doesn't call the plays
October 1st, 2023 at 12:12 AM ^
Brian does. NTB
September 30th, 2023 at 8:16 PM ^
Not to do the whole “told ya so” thing but, he went outside of Michigan to get his knee fixed then very quickly re-injures that knee? Hmmm
September 30th, 2023 at 8:22 PM ^
Wait, he did? When did he have surgery?
September 30th, 2023 at 8:28 PM ^
He had surgery in LA IN December.
September 30th, 2023 at 8:28 PM ^
I thought that was All?
September 30th, 2023 at 8:35 PM ^
There’s a whole article somewhere about Cade and family members living in a retail building in LA getting surgery and watching M vs TCU.
September 30th, 2023 at 11:56 PM ^
If I recall correctly, that article seemed a little salty about medical care/recommendations. I've never known a physician who didn't give the absolute best advice for his patient that he could. And certainly not in umich medicine.
I really hope that this wasn't the result of a bad medical choice. It's tough to recover mentally and physically, even without having to have that dynamic to deal with.
October 1st, 2023 at 7:24 AM ^
Reviewing their comments on the medical reasons behind their departure, it seemed entirely possible if not likely that Cade and All were being sold a bill of goods, which is obviously dangerous when it comes to medical treatments. Hope his knee can recover. There’s more than a football career at stake- there are serious quality of life issues.
September 30th, 2023 at 8:37 PM ^
All had back surgery. In Florida maybe?
September 30th, 2023 at 8:38 PM ^
All's was in a strip mall in Florida.

Man that’s some funny shit, mooseman. I’ve been mopping up toddler puke and in a bad mood. I’m slightly happier now.
September 30th, 2023 at 9:52 PM ^
Oh man, been there. Glad to be of some help (with out actually cleaning up puke)!
September 30th, 2023 at 11:22 PM ^
next time get a cat. They'll eat their own puke.
September 30th, 2023 at 8:40 PM ^
No. Michigan doctors told him all he needed was rest, not surgery. He and his family sought a second opinion - always a good idea with injuries, especially if they possibly involve surgery. That doctor - a guy known for that particular type of surgery, recommended surgery. That is why Cade left when he did. He didn't want to sit and wait like the UM doctors recommended.
There's so much BS from that story. All people do is read the worst and run with it...
September 30th, 2023 at 9:01 PM ^
So a guy who performs surgery for a living recommended surgery? Shocker.
September 30th, 2023 at 9:19 PM ^
Is there someone else you'd want a surgery recommendation from?
September 30th, 2023 at 10:00 PM ^
My mail man.
October 1st, 2023 at 12:14 AM ^
Have you ever heard “when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail”? Surgeons are notorious for over-recommending surgery.
October 1st, 2023 at 12:38 AM ^
Bad surgeons do, IMO.
There are conservative surgeons as well and probably some that are too conservative.
Still, when a guy who does surgery for a living, enjoys doing surgery and gets paid for doing surgery recommends that you NOT have surgery, you might want to listen.
October 1st, 2023 at 2:37 PM ^
Literally the plot of a Scrubs episode.
A show that many medical professionals point to as one that actually somewhat gets it right (I mean…aside from the obvious comedically exaggerated bits)
September 30th, 2023 at 9:22 PM ^
To be fair, the UM doctors also do surgery for a living and recommended no surgery.
October 1st, 2023 at 12:09 PM ^
Especially since doctors working for an academic institution are less likely to be money chasers--they've already taken a massive pay cut by working there.
October 1st, 2023 at 12:40 AM ^
The most important thing a surgeon needs to know is when not to operate.
September 30th, 2023 at 9:03 PM ^
to be fair, the UM sports medical team fucked up my knee surgery several years ago. it can happen to anyone.
September 30th, 2023 at 9:46 PM ^
quad injury is what he had and it looked like he hurt the quad again by the look of it.
September 30th, 2023 at 11:05 PM ^
True, but Michigan medical staff doesn’t have a perfect track record, see Benjamin St Justie
October 1st, 2023 at 1:22 PM ^
Michigan wasn’t wrong with St. Juste. He had a recurring injury (hamstring) and it was their recommendation that he not continue to play. Different doctors can have different recommendations for the same injury, which is why “getting a second opinion” is often recommended. It was the opinion of the UM doctors that he could continue having issues with his hamstring and there was a potential for life altering injury. If St. Juste goes out next week and his hamstring blows up, would we still be questioning the UM medical staff’s decision?
At the end of the day, doctors can’t tell the future. They can look at the information they have, and they can give you their medical opinion and recommendations moving forward. Doesn’t mean they’re right or wrong, as not every case is the same and not every patient is the same.

He had surgery by one of the most renowned surgeons at this time, Dr. Neal ElAttrache https://www.maizenbrew.com/football/2022/11/11/23453055/michigan-football-cade-mcnamara-knee-surgery
This guy isn't some hack. He did Aaron Rogers' achilles surgery, Ohtani's elbow surgery, Tom Brady's knee, Kobe Bryant's achilles, Joe Burrow's torn ACL and MCL, Saquon Barkley's torn ACL, Chris Sale's Tommy John surgery, among others:
October 1st, 2023 at 10:41 AM ^
Dr Krimchek did my sons Tommy John and he came back throwing harder and had more control than ever. One of my sons teammates had different results , same surgery and same doc. You just never know.
October 1st, 2023 at 9:02 AM ^
It actually appears to be his quad. Some injury he had when the season ended. However it could very well be linked to the surgery he had on his knee
October 1st, 2023 at 9:04 AM ^
No way of knowing he doesn’t have the same injury following the UM advice.
Completely reasonable for 2 sets of doctors to have different advice.
September 30th, 2023 at 8:17 PM ^
one of the announcers was saying it was a quad injury. either way he left the field on the cart. He had a lingering knee injury at UM and now this. Feel bad for the guy.
September 30th, 2023 at 8:22 PM ^
The look on his face as he sat on the cart…just seemed so defeated. Kid hasn’t caught a break since September of last year
September 30th, 2023 at 8:28 PM ^
The way he twisted his knee sure looked like a ligament tear rather than a muscle injury. But who knows
September 30th, 2023 at 8:22 PM ^
Hope he gets better soon.
Strange to see a player injured when playing MSU and it not being because of a cheap shot
September 30th, 2023 at 10:57 PM ^
Told a coworker last season that I wasn't worried about msu until the 4th Q when they start taking cheap shots. Then msu changed it up and waited till after the game. "No one could have seen it coming" on Monday.
September 30th, 2023 at 8:22 PM ^
Yikes. Hope he's ok...
September 30th, 2023 at 8:34 PM ^
Somehow he will blame the Michigan football medical staff
