That last top-ten win was also against Clemson.
September 4th, 2023 at 11:28 PM ^
Largest win over Clemson since 1936
September 4th, 2023 at 11:29 PM ^
Rival fans tell me Michigan is always lustin’ after those duke football coaches.
September 4th, 2023 at 11:32 PM ^
Good. This makes going back to work tomorrow just a little less painful after the holiday weekend. Can’t wait to hear what the Clemson faithful have to say at work tomorrow.
September 5th, 2023 at 5:59 AM ^
I live in South Carolina and the fans here are used to Clemson success. Losing the first game in embarrassing fashion stings a bit, I'm sure.
September 4th, 2023 at 11:32 PM ^
Preseason polls are beyond stupid. How can you rank teams that haven’t played a game??!!!
September 5th, 2023 at 2:48 AM ^
Easy.
September 5th, 2023 at 6:17 AM ^
Michigan #1,
All others #2 or lower.
September 5th, 2023 at 6:34 AM ^
Because you know how the teams did last year and which ones generally return the top talent. It's obviously not exact, but 9 tines out of ten should be good enough as a starting point.
September 5th, 2023 at 7:47 AM ^
Damn, a fork with 9 tines. Haven't seen one of those in a while.
Guess Duke REALLY stuck a fork in them.
September 5th, 2023 at 8:34 AM ^
There are obviously 10 tines in the fork described above. ;)
September 5th, 2023 at 8:39 AM ^
Once upon a tine . . .
September 5th, 2023 at 7:24 AM ^
And the same prognosticators cal a team overrated because they lose. The term overrated is something I will never understand. The team didn't rank themselves. . Know nothing so called experts ranked them and then call a team overrated because the so called experts don't have a clue. Just my opinion
September 5th, 2023 at 7:28 AM ^
But it's not necessarily a criticism of the players on the team (though of course it feels that way). It just means that ... they were initially ranked too highly, no? I mean, it's literally 100% accurate. Those who evaluated them clearly over-estimated their talent. The team was ... overrated. What's the problem?
September 4th, 2023 at 11:37 PM ^
Pretty even game statistically, which no one expected.
But big plays and dumb turnovers shifted the course of events.
Sometimes when you're on.
September 5th, 2023 at 12:16 AM ^
Even without the mistakes, it looked like Duke was playing them evenly. It wasn't a given that they would win without the mistakes. That's got to be Clemson's biggest concern. The Duke victory wasn't just a fluke.
September 4th, 2023 at 11:38 PM ^
Clemson quickly plummeting into mediocrity
Dadgummit!
September 4th, 2023 at 11:44 PM ^
It sure does look like they had their moment, and it’s basically done now.
September 5th, 2023 at 12:12 AM ^
Oregon-esque.
September 5th, 2023 at 7:32 AM ^
I cannot definitively say it is the reason, but I find it interesting that there were certain teams which reportedly paid recruits to play at their school in the past have done extremely well. Now that all schools can offer money to students, and most of those school are no longer elite may or may not be a coincidence. Georgia is the exception.
September 5th, 2023 at 8:38 AM ^
Dabo also is stubbornly not exploiting the transfer portal. E.g. they could have used a Keon Coleman last night
September 5th, 2023 at 10:24 AM ^
Everyone needs a Keon Coleman. Michigan needs a Keon Coleman - wait, we already have a Colston Loveland…
September 5th, 2023 at 1:22 PM ^
Hell, even a Cade or Payton would have been better.
September 4th, 2023 at 11:46 PM ^
If you've seen the AI-generated commercial for the Toronto Blue Jays that devolves into a horror show, then you understand being a Clemson fan right now.
Starts off with such high hopes, and then...

Wow... LMAO!!! Thank you for posting that!
September 4th, 2023 at 11:52 PM ^
Bad mistakes on O did Clemson in, but their D looked pretty porous also. And basically quit at the end.
September 5th, 2023 at 10:12 AM ^
They did look like they quit at the end.
September 4th, 2023 at 11:53 PM ^
The beatdowns on LSU and Clemson were very satisfying. Ironically, we got to witness both on Disney-owned networks- ABC and ESPN. WHAT A SETUP!
September 5th, 2023 at 11:25 AM ^
LSU will drop to 9th until they get a win vs Vanderbilt then back to top 5.
September 4th, 2023 at 11:55 PM ^
Riley Leonard is legit.
September 4th, 2023 at 11:57 PM ^
Clemson’s 2nd half red zone offense was embarrassing. Missed 23 yard FG and 2 fumbles inside the 10. The only routes they seem to be able to run are flat passes to Shipley or opposite side hash throws to a 5’9 WR that looks like Dabo’s son. Pretty shocking lack of offensive execution or creativity after bringing Lincoln Riley’s brother in.
September 5th, 2023 at 10:54 AM ^
My brother's a legit rocket scientist running his own aerospace design company. Noone's clamoring to get in any vehicle I design. Especially anyone who knows me.
September 5th, 2023 at 11:13 AM ^
In 2020-2021 Riley had SMU's offense in the Top 15 twice in terms of production.
Last year TCU had the #9 offense and uh, was the only team to really shred Michigan's defense. He also won the Broyles Award as the best assistant in the country.
I am pretty sure he's proven he's a good OC.
September 5th, 2023 at 12:05 AM ^
It's gratifying to see Clemson and Ohio State look ordinary in the same weekend. I remember circa 2019 when these spread passing attacks with elite talent were supposed to be invincible and the rest of us were irrelevant. How the tables have turned
September 5th, 2023 at 10:07 AM ^
2019 Clemson and OSU both had NFL QBs. When the QB is a step down, so goes the whole offense. There may be other reasons but I think QB play explains the majority of the difference.
September 5th, 2023 at 10:48 AM ^
Certainly it's a big step down from Trevor Lawrence to Cade Klubnik. And while I don't want to jinx us by saying McCord can't get a lot better, he's doesn't have the upside of Justin Fields. But I don't think it's only QB play. College football has caught up tactically, as always happens. Lots of dropping 8 into coverage, for instance, which Duke did a bunch last night
I'd also add that Clemson is apparently--if you believe their fans--caught in a previous era of recruiting, whereby they still take unusually small classes and refuse to really harness the transfer portal. That's a huge handicap right now
September 5th, 2023 at 12:09 AM ^
Wait... What?
September 5th, 2023 at 12:55 AM ^
It's all true! I watched it happen.
September 5th, 2023 at 12:19 AM ^
LOL, looks like Clemson reign as a elite team is over. I'm hoping bama will be next. FSU has the ACC wrapped up.
September 5th, 2023 at 12:28 AM ^
Wont go that far. Unc has a defense that at least looks like it won’t be bottom 20 again. If unc defense can be somewhere around 40-50, that’s a playoff team.
September 5th, 2023 at 12:27 AM ^
Clemson’s qb is a dud. That slide on 4th down was one of the dumbest and whatever the opposite of heads up plays I’ve ever seen a player make. Every time the field got short and they needed him to actually do something, he failed. Became clear halfway through the game Riley had to rework the game plan because he kept shitting up and he had to try to Cole-proof the game plan and Cole still found ways to screw it up.
Clemsons era of national relevance is over. That league belongs to FSU, UNC and I guess Duke now. Elko is legit and deserves a tippy top job. If Harbaugh goes to the NFL he looks like a very good outsider option.
September 5th, 2023 at 3:47 AM ^
They now remind me of Michigan under Hoke. Supposedly have great talent (recruiting rankings), but zero talent development. Especially at the QB position.
September 5th, 2023 at 9:18 AM ^
I didn't see the play, but there is no way it was dumber than Dak Prescott running out the clock on his own team:
September 5th, 2023 at 12:28 AM ^
You love to see it.
September 5th, 2023 at 12:29 AM ^
Clemson lost because Dabo is too woke
September 5th, 2023 at 12:44 AM ^
Can't believe God would do this to Dabo.
September 5th, 2023 at 1:24 AM ^
Or maybe the Devil has come to South Carolina like The Master and Margarita.
Or maybe when your best offensive weapon is a 5’10” white guy, not even God can help you.
September 5th, 2023 at 1:47 AM ^
If he went all the way to South Carolina, the Devil must have been way behind.
September 5th, 2023 at 5:21 AM ^
hunter renfrow was pretty good
